Boston Bruins Win Three and Return to Their Identity | Ep. 125
Liner notes
🎙️After a brutal loss in Seattle threatened to derail another week, the Bruins responded with their best stretch of hockey in what seemed like ages; tightening discipline, rediscovering five-on-five structure, and banking crucial points in a congested Eastern Conference wild-card race. Boston rebounded with wins over Calgary, a historic 10-goal explosion against the Rangers, and a grind-it-out shutout against Pittsburgh. The common thread? Fewer penalties, better structure, and elite goaltending when it mattered most. The margin remains thin, but the blueprint is suddenly clearer. Speaker 1: Can you start a podcast with me? Please? I need
Speaker 1: something to do. I'll Jack send it out a trough
Speaker 1: o'bocking to saydays, watch today, here's a chance, popa right
Speaker 1: down with goalie Scars. Oh my one a move by
Speaker 1: the rookie too on one Pastor not moving in Marsh
Speaker 1: getting Jost on his own oil dances in podcast wat
Speaker 1: home right away corner Pastor Chester, what is that for? Most?
Speaker 1: Welcome in everyone to another episode of Bruin's Tape to Tape.
Speaker 2: We are recording on Monday, January twelfth. Bruins have had
Speaker 2: a significant amount of activity to start twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2: But before we dive into the week that was for
Speaker 2: the Boston Bruins, I want to welcome in, my lovely
Speaker 2: but I'd last a bit tired. Hockey Mom co host
Speaker 2: Caroline with a k. You are on hockey overload.
Speaker 1: My friends him Maria, Oh my god, it's if I'm
Speaker 1: not at a rink. Something must be seriously wrong at
Speaker 1: this point in the season.
Speaker 2: Been there, done that, been there, done that. Don't I'm
Speaker 2: not going to say, don't care to do it again
Speaker 2: because there are times that I miss it. Yep, Oh,
Speaker 2: where are you off to? Where do you think another ring. Well,
Speaker 2: having experienced many an arena myself across the New England area,
Speaker 2: we felt pretty goddamn lucky to have the rinks that
Speaker 2: we had in State of Maine. Given some of the
Speaker 2: arenas that.
Speaker 1: Our boys have played at, it's always a crapshoot when
Speaker 1: you're going to a new one, so you never know
Speaker 1: what you're gonna get.
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, when you have to tell the kids
Speaker 2: when you put your equipment on and you're done, make
Speaker 2: sure you zip up your bags so no critters can
Speaker 2: get inside your hockey bags.
Speaker 1: Okay, no, it's horrible. AnyWho.
Speaker 2: The Bruins have had themselves a week since we last recorded.
Speaker 2: Most of it has been has been good, and we'll
Speaker 2: talk about what the difference has been or is in
Speaker 2: the fact that they've you know, figured out and corrected
Speaker 2: some things in their games. But before we get gone,
Speaker 2: there's a little bit of news in that just quickly,
Speaker 2: I don't know, for those of you who haven't been
Speaker 2: on social media or are curious, the Patriots played their
Speaker 2: first playoff game in New England in quite some time
Speaker 2: and actually won the game. I believe it's the first
Speaker 2: playoff game they've won since they won Super Bowl in
Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, believe it or not, and Christian Gonzales arrived
Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium pregame rocking his Zadano. Shara attires, if
Speaker 2: anyone hasn't seen that, it's a pretty pretty cool photo
Speaker 2: that's been circulating on social media.
Speaker 1: So put on.
Speaker 2: Christian for paying homage to Big Z. In addition to that,
Speaker 2: we have a little injury to talk about. Another injury
Speaker 2: to campus lind Home, a bit of a mysterious injury
Speaker 2: and one in which we haven't gotten a great deal
Speaker 2: of insight on or transparency from the Boston Bruins at
Speaker 2: this point in time. But troubling nonetheless, because this is
Speaker 2: becoming a little bit of a pattern with this player,
Speaker 2: and not in a good way. Also, so, Jonathan Asparo
Speaker 2: signed a two year extension with the Boston Bruins at
Speaker 2: eight seven five.
Speaker 1: Not a bad not a bad little deal. And this
Speaker 1: guy's been solid. You know, I've liked his play.
Speaker 2: I like his fopus and his intensity and his I'm
Speaker 2: just gonna work my butt off attitude.
Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on this player? I love this guy.
Speaker 1: We've affectionately called him the Mustache. In our discord because
Speaker 1: he's rocking the pretty solid mustache out there. As a
Speaker 1: young guy, I can't quite put my finger on it yet.
Speaker 1: I got to spend a little bit more time actually
Speaker 1: just specifically watching him because the circus that has been
Speaker 1: going on the last few.
Speaker 2: Weeks has made it hard.
Speaker 1: But the stats don't lie. The Bruins have been what
Speaker 1: five one and zero or something like that, since he's
Speaker 1: he cam back and he's a traditional defenseman, which sometimes
Speaker 1: you just need to have on the team. You know,
Speaker 1: every team needs those stay at home yes, and Eddie
Speaker 1: Eddie's yeah. And I think the Bruins, with the departure
Speaker 1: of Brandon Carlow last March, really then put themselves in
Speaker 1: a position where they didn't have a completely stay at
Speaker 1: home defenceman on the roster. You know, we've got a
Speaker 1: lot of guys who played defense who are obviously very defensive,
Speaker 1: but not really completely in the way that Asparo really
Speaker 1: plays his game. And you just need it, especially if
Speaker 1: the core values of the Bruins franchise includes extremely solid
Speaker 1: defensive structure, you have to have that as part of
Speaker 1: the recipe. Very exciting to see that. I think if
Speaker 1: I was not expecting it. The announcement, yes, no, no,
Speaker 1: I came out of a little bit of nowhere, right,
Speaker 1: a little bit out of left field. But I think
Speaker 1: in all the best ways, it kind of pumped everyone up.
Speaker 1: We're like, yes, management sees him, they recognize his contribution,
Speaker 1: and they're rewarding players who are coming in, working within
Speaker 1: the confines of the system and executing on it. And
Speaker 1: I think that that's going to have a huge return
Speaker 1: on what's happening in that locker room, because it's saying
Speaker 1: we reward players who come in. We had no expectations,
Speaker 1: and he's doing more than what we asked. So let
Speaker 1: me ask you this.
Speaker 2: Hear me out, or is this laying the foundation to
Speaker 2: lock this guy in, who is a very serviceable defenseman
Speaker 2: to a two year deal, had a good amount of
Speaker 2: money in order to be able to either move him
Speaker 2: at the trade deadline or in the off season to
Speaker 2: a team that again you have to if we're you know,
Speaker 2: just something that popped into my head. I like the
Speaker 2: way he plays. I like what he's done now. Nakeda
Speaker 2: Zadora leads the team of plus minus. He's played forty
Speaker 2: six games. He hasn't missed a game, he's a plus fifteen.
Speaker 2: Jonathan Asparo, who has played in only twenty six games,
Speaker 2: is a plus fifteen. Now, I know that's not the
Speaker 2: bo and end all, but clearly this guy, he's doing
Speaker 2: his job and he's doing it well. And if he's
Speaker 2: still a member of this roster come March, April, May,
Speaker 2: June and rate. But if Dawn Sweeney is actually doing
Speaker 2: what he should be doing as a general manager, which
Speaker 2: is trying to line things up for the future, good
Speaker 2: on him.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, no matter how you slice it, even
Speaker 1: if that I think, you know, I think this is
Speaker 1: one of those things where two things could absolutely be true.
Speaker 1: Because he certainly was deserving of it, and I'm thrilled
Speaker 1: to see someone being rewarded in that way. But there's
Speaker 1: you know, it is still a business. And if some
Speaker 1: of that motivation for front office to make this deal
Speaker 1: happen was, hey, we want to kind of value him
Speaker 1: a little higher so that way he has a higher
Speaker 1: rate of return from that time.
Speaker 2: I mean they know that he has value.
Speaker 1: It's not a false inflation, like falsely inflated value that
Speaker 1: they're placing on him because they're hoping to get more
Speaker 1: than they could for him.
Speaker 2: And they can ill afford to do that on this roster. Now,
Speaker 2: I mean that would be just egregious on the part of.
Speaker 1: Swinging.
Speaker 2: You don't have a whole ton of room to begin
Speaker 2: with everything, But yeah, not a lot of breathing wiom.
Speaker 2: The next big event coming up for the Boston Bruins
Speaker 2: is the Zadano Chara Retirement, which is sounding and shaping
Speaker 2: up to be the event of.
Speaker 1: The season here.
Speaker 2: It's going to be hosted by Andrew Ferrence and those
Speaker 2: of us who are season ticket holders have been receiving
Speaker 2: all kinds of information about timetables and timing and this
Speaker 2: is when this is happening, and red carpet entrances and
Speaker 2: be in your seats, and the itinerary is four fifteen.
Speaker 2: There's a gold carpet entrance at the main hub and
Speaker 2: entrance of the TV Garden. Five o'clock the doors will
Speaker 2: open all ticket holders. They're encouraging all ticket holders to
Speaker 2: be in their seats by six', ten six twenty the
Speaker 2: ceremony begins and the game is not scheduled to start
Speaker 2: until eight. Pm eight.
Speaker 1: Pm that's according to.
Speaker 2: This, Now i'm assuming then that means that the ceremony
Speaker 2: itself is going to be a, minimum likely an hour
Speaker 2: lawn and they're going to want the teams to be
Speaker 2: able to warm up as they would normally warm.
Speaker 1: Up so there you have.
Speaker 2: It that was the information that we received from The Boston. Bruins,
Speaker 2: well and it's rightly.
Speaker 1: So The Boston bruins haven't retired a number Since january
Speaker 1: of twenty twenty, two so it's been four years since
Speaker 1: they last did one of, these SO i don't remember
Speaker 1: all of the details around that as. Well but he
Speaker 1: is also the First european player to have his number
Speaker 1: one retired by The, bruins and only the thirteenth overall
Speaker 1: retired by the, organization and quite, frankly this one was
Speaker 1: a long time. Coming you've said before in the past
Speaker 1: that whether it's The jacob's family or whomever makes those,
Speaker 1: decisions that The bruins are, notorious notorious for being particularly
Speaker 1: slow at giving this kind of honor to players who
Speaker 1: have defined this. FRANCHISE i, mean for crying out, loud
Speaker 1: the only reason Why Ray bork's number got retired as
Speaker 1: fast as it did was because they were retiring it In,
Speaker 1: colorado And boston, said we'll be damned if that happens,
Speaker 1: First like he spent twenty one years In.
Speaker 2: Boston so, Yeah AND i, mean as much AS i
Speaker 2: like to crap on The jacob's, family you, know sometimes,
Speaker 2: too it's also a timing. Issue if they're a particular
Speaker 2: pece both that are, critical crucial and important to this
Speaker 2: ceremony Or Za dan, o'chara they want to make sure
Speaker 2: that they're able to get them get them. There LIKE
Speaker 2: i believe that a lot of members of the two
Speaker 2: thousand and Eleven Stanley cup championship team are going to
Speaker 2: be at this ceremony and somewhat active in the ceremony yeah.
Speaker 1: Itself, yes, yeah and all but one are retired at this,
Speaker 1: point so time has to pass and obviously scheduling is
Speaker 1: a legitimate. Thing shortly after he had, retired we then
Speaker 1: we had The willie, o'reewan and you don't want to
Speaker 1: have one every. YEAR i understand. That then it was
Speaker 1: the centennial and there was a question mark of is
Speaker 1: that going to be part of it or? Not and it,
Speaker 1: didn't which was, Okay like that made sense as, well
Speaker 1: and SO i THINK i wouldn't be surprised if there
Speaker 1: were a couple of extenuating circumstances that were then really
Speaker 1: forcing The jacob's family to all, right it has to
Speaker 1: happen now because a he was inducted to The hall Of.
Speaker 1: Fame how how long do you make a person who
Speaker 1: is induction into The hall Of fame wait for? That
Speaker 1: but B i mean not to count chickens before eggs
Speaker 1: have been. Hatched but another former captain of The Boston
Speaker 1: brewers who is retired becomes eligible for The Hockey hall Of.
Speaker 1: Fame this jew this, Juice he's going in first. Ballot
Speaker 1: it's a no. Brainer he's going. In and how you
Speaker 1: can't possibly then make that man wait to retire that
Speaker 1: number number thirty Seven for those of you who are
Speaker 1: new and are not, following uh, like it's it has
Speaker 1: to happen because of just the timing of. It so
Speaker 1: they really kind of put it, off so to, speak
Speaker 1: as late as they possibly. Could they're they're doing this
Speaker 1: at the elene the hour to squeeze in because it's
Speaker 1: it's gonna. Happen we're gonna see too very, quickly which is.
Speaker 2: Great we don't see and deserves These these are no
Speaker 2: brainers in terms of numbers of The Boston bruins whose
Speaker 2: numbers should go up into the. Rafters and you, know
Speaker 2: that's a conversation for another, day because sometimes there's too many,
Speaker 2: Numbers like you look at The Boston celtics when you
Speaker 2: go into THE Tv garden and see how Many celtics
Speaker 2: numbers have been, retired and you're, like how many more
Speaker 2: can we put up?
Speaker 1: There? Right but you can't deny that that The Boston
Speaker 1: bruins have had arguably Two golden. Eras there was The
Speaker 1: Golden era where we see a large number of players
Speaker 1: from that are hanging up there from you, know the
Speaker 1: late sixties into the, seventies and then The Golden era
Speaker 1: that was basically the tenure Of zadanochara up until.
Speaker 2: Last year it and we were really pushing it really
Speaker 2: it was through twenty. Nineteen so the fact that.
Speaker 1: There's Patrice bergeron is not going to be the last
Speaker 1: number retired from this, Era like it's it's just.
Speaker 2: Unavoidable you can't not these people made that era happen.
Speaker 1: BECAUSE i don't know who ELSE i would put up
Speaker 1: there After patrese right, Now, no, well there there's where
Speaker 1: there's one who's gonna have his number up there, eventually eighty.
Speaker 2: Eight oh, yeah but we're taught that's going every. Time
Speaker 2: that's down down the road and currently retired no, no, no,
Speaker 2: no currently.
Speaker 1: Retired. No But i'm thinking sixty three is going to
Speaker 1: be up. There eighty eight is going to be up.
Speaker 1: There they're part of that olden.
Speaker 2: Era sixty three popped into my, head AND i wonder
Speaker 2: how that would be handled by The bruins. ORGANIZATION i, mean,
Speaker 2: espo he can't back right that ORLY i think time
Speaker 2: not not without being. Did he was a bit, Disgruntled
Speaker 2: he had some animosity towards the organization and, right but
Speaker 2: he came back for and And ray bork erased all
Speaker 2: of the the shittiness Of Harry sindon when he took
Speaker 2: off that.
Speaker 1: Jersey. Yeah, Yeah SO i think those are, we're you,
Speaker 1: know very far into the, future but those are two
Speaker 1: players also from this golden age that it's just kind
Speaker 1: of something that happens when you have such a magnificent
Speaker 1: stretch for a. TEAM i can't speak to what that
Speaker 1: what's happening with The celtics BECAUSE i don't watch.
Speaker 2: Basketball oh, no IT'S i, mean you look up at
Speaker 2: the numbers and you're, like, OKAY i can see why
Speaker 2: these numbers are up, there but at some point you
Speaker 2: say to, yourself, like how many more are we gonna
Speaker 2: lift up? There? RIGHT i, Mean Jason tatum will likely
Speaker 2: be up there at some point in. Time but moving,
Speaker 2: on and for anyone who has tickets to the, game
Speaker 2: everyone will be provided with A Zadane olchara. Bobblehead so amazing,
Speaker 2: though it'll, be it'll it'll. Be it'll be pretty. Cool
Speaker 2: it'll be pretty cool and well. Deserved you, know he
Speaker 2: single handedly fixed the culture of The boss And bruins
Speaker 2: when he arrived as a free. Agent it wasn't always,
Speaker 2: easy it wasn't always, easy but he got he got
Speaker 2: the job, Done so congratulations To BIG.
Speaker 1: Z moving on to our around the rink. Segment there
Speaker 1: have been some milestones that have been accomplished and we
Speaker 1: would be remiss if we didn't touch upon them. Briefly
Speaker 1: in this, segment we Have Alex, ovechkin Who Jesus christ
Speaker 1: seems to have found the fountain of you because he
Speaker 1: has scored over twenty goals for the twenty first time
Speaker 1: in his, career which is it's fringing. Amazing this guy's
Speaker 1: like an iron, man, DUDE i mean he's just like
Speaker 1: is he really?
Speaker 2: IS i, mean He's he's just a.
Speaker 1: Machine that's. It he's a. Machine he's a.
Speaker 2: Cyborg he is not a.
Speaker 1: Human.
Speaker 2: Unbelievable party keeps, Going, YEAH i, know, yeah, yeah. Good
Speaker 2: so congratulations to O. VETCHKIN i threw this in. There
Speaker 2: i'm going to Give Austin matthews a, flower a, flower
Speaker 2: one singular, flower one single one flower because he broke
Speaker 2: matt sundeen all Time Toronto Maple leafs scoring, record and
Speaker 2: there was a big ceremony that took place At Maple
Speaker 2: Leafs garden or whatever the hell it's called to commemorate
Speaker 2: For Austin. Matthews, so you, know congratulations to. Him do
Speaker 2: you remember how how many?
Speaker 1: Goals BECAUSE i do want to point out the fact
Speaker 1: that he is now The leaf's all time leading scorer
Speaker 1: and it's not even.
Speaker 2: Close to What Johnny busic accomplished four hundred and twenty.
Speaker 1: One Bret marshan had four hundred and twenty two just
Speaker 1: with The Boston. BROOKE i, MEAN i, mean good On,
Speaker 1: matthews but like this is more of a swipe at The,
Speaker 1: leafs like you've been around for longer than The bruins
Speaker 1: and your top scorer hasn't even cracked five. Hundred, okay he,
Speaker 1: will but little, SHADE i, mean, yeah we got to
Speaker 1: give give it and take the shade back to a little.
Speaker 2: Bit so and then we had Another Miles, Stone Leon
Speaker 2: Drives sidle a THOUSAND nhl points recently crazy and Then
Speaker 2: steven stamkost six hundred CAREER nhl.
Speaker 1: Goals so no.
Speaker 2: Joke these these are, legit you, know legit, Players, yeah
Speaker 2: setting legit milestones for. Themselves so it's these are these
Speaker 2: are you, know all kidding, aside even when it comes
Speaker 2: To Austin, matthews these are pretty pretty pretty damn good,
Speaker 2: accomplishments and you, know and these players are all very
Speaker 2: humbled and very humble when speaking about these accomplishments and
Speaker 2: giving credit to you, know teammates and coaches.
Speaker 1: And, good you, know good good for. Them. Yeah, yeah
Speaker 1: it's great for the game to see records. Fall it always.
Speaker 1: Is and then we have a little bit of drama
Speaker 1: going on In New.
Speaker 2: JERSEY i don't know what is happening with The New
Speaker 2: Jersey devils And Dougie hamilton and he's being healthy scratched
Speaker 2: and being told it's.
Speaker 1: Just a numbers. Game and this guy's back in the
Speaker 1: lineup and he's playing, better and he's got no movement,
Speaker 1: clauses and he said no to The San Jose sharks
Speaker 1: over the summer to be. Moved but now his agent is,
Speaker 1: saying you, know we're open to looking at a trade
Speaker 1: and may look the past are no you, know our
Speaker 1: list of teams and have no movement. Closet, well what
Speaker 1: the hell is happening? THERE i don't, KNOW i, mean
Speaker 1: what is going on In New? JERSEY i? KNOW I, well,
Speaker 1: hopefully well we'll have a new friend of the pot
Speaker 1: on sometimes soon to kind of enlighten, us because this
Speaker 1: seemed a little bit out of left field for me
Speaker 1: WHEN i saw this come, out AND i tend to
Speaker 1: be pretty aware of what's happening around the, league and
Speaker 1: so clearly something's a mess because between g uonder what
Speaker 1: actually happened at that rookie dinner With Jack, hughes.
Speaker 2: AND i still think there's more to meet the eye
Speaker 2: to that, story and only because we've had experience with
Speaker 2: that here In boston with a little hand injury To DAVID.
Speaker 1: Pastrona, okay so, right that's All i'm going to. Say about.
Speaker 1: That but then you, KNOW i Thought dougie was a
Speaker 1: pretty well liked member of the team and critical part
Speaker 1: of the, organization and then you, see, uh they're just
Speaker 1: in a tail spin as a, team and you're, like,
Speaker 1: what what is what is happening down? THERE i don't,
Speaker 1: Know so we're going to keep our eyes, open especially
Speaker 1: as we get closer and closer to the trade. Deadline
Speaker 1: there is a freeze for The olympics in terms of,
Speaker 1: Business so if we don't see anything in the next
Speaker 1: what is, it like two and a half, weeks we're
Speaker 1: not gonna see anything until almost the, deadline which we
Speaker 1: kind of have been speculating would be the case. Anyway
Speaker 1: so this is one that we're gonna we're gonna be
Speaker 1: keeping an eye on because he's a good, Player so
Speaker 1: this could be a pretty big deal that goes. DOWN
Speaker 1: i don't. Know it'll be interesting to see what.
Speaker 2: Happens and, yes he has been a solid player for,
Speaker 2: them AND i know he's he's had some some significant, injuries,
Speaker 2: yeah that have impacted him during his time with With New.
Speaker 2: JERSEY i also think he's a little bit of an odd.
Speaker 2: Ball that was some of what we've heard when he
Speaker 2: was here In, boston that he's kind of a, different different.
Speaker 2: Guy different cat doesn't mean good or, bad just, yeah but. Yeah,
Speaker 2: anyways it's just. Interesting it's like this stuff comes out of.
Speaker 2: Nowhere and you, KNOW i don't know if we want
Speaker 2: to give this story any life for food and want
Speaker 2: to just move.
Speaker 1: On but some of the the.
Speaker 2: Shitty stuff that's been heaved at Linus omark and members
Speaker 2: of The Attawa senators by people who should just stay
Speaker 2: in their basement and don't crawl out of the cesspool
Speaker 2: that is your basement. Awful and for those who are
Speaker 2: not familiar with what's happening here is Linus omark has
Speaker 2: taken a personal leave of absence from The Ottawa. Senators
Speaker 2: AND i think sometimes there are fans and maybe to
Speaker 2: some degree, media BUT i don't think media takes it
Speaker 2: this far that just feel that they need to know everybody's.
Speaker 2: Business they need to know why he's away from the
Speaker 2: team and why he's not there for the, team and you,
Speaker 2: know he's getting paid to play and block blah blah blah. Blah,
Speaker 2: Okay so then a story starts circulating which sounds so far.
Speaker 2: Fetched the fact that someone could just throw this shit
Speaker 2: out there and saying that players on The Ottawa senators
Speaker 2: are having extramarital, affairs that those affairs were and this
Speaker 2: was telling his wife about, them his wife told the other.
Speaker 2: JET i, mean it's just beyond ridiculous to the fact
Speaker 2: that The Ottawa senators issued a very very strong statement
Speaker 2: because in my, view the only way to respond to
Speaker 2: a bully is to be a bully. Back, Yeah and
Speaker 2: that statement basically pushed back on the bully or bullies
Speaker 2: who are dragging in a send people and families into
Speaker 2: this shit storm that shouldn't even be a shit. Storm
Speaker 2: And brady could choock, agreed spoke out and basically, said
Speaker 2: leave af freaking families.
Speaker 1: Alone this is.
Speaker 2: Bullshit we're Supporting lenus whatever he's going, through and they
Speaker 2: clearly know as teammates what he's going, through and the
Speaker 2: fact that they all have to be responding to this.
Speaker 2: Crap and, today this is WHY i say social media
Speaker 2: has been to some degree the ruination of society because
Speaker 2: it's so easy to hide behind your keyboard and type
Speaker 2: whatever the hell you want and see if it.
Speaker 1: Sticks as AS i always like to, say just because
Speaker 1: you can doesn't mean you. Should SO i applaud The
Speaker 1: Attawa senators for having their players backs and responding so.
Speaker 2: STRONGLY i think they even referred to them as liars and.
Speaker 2: Trolls all, right, now we're going to talk about some.
Speaker 2: Hockey when last we met The, bruins, well we're trending
Speaker 2: not in the right. Direction and it started with a
Speaker 2: disgusting loss to frustrating but disgusting loss to The Seattle
Speaker 2: kraken by a score of seven to. Four and this
Speaker 2: was not the first time that a six or seventh
Speaker 2: spot had been put up against The bruins this, season
Speaker 2: and it seems to be Consistently Jeremy, swayman who is
Speaker 2: in net when this. Happens now we can talk about
Speaker 2: whether or not you know this, workload if he's being
Speaker 2: impacted by this, workload because he was bearing the burden
Speaker 2: of a bunch of work where we hadn't Seen Jones
Speaker 2: corposalo in what seemed like it seems like weeks but
Speaker 2: likely days this. Point but the goaltending was not good
Speaker 2: in This nothing was really good in That seattle.
Speaker 1: Game and they gave up three power play goals on four,
Speaker 1: opportunities which again so first, reading, yeah it was.
Speaker 2: Frustrating it was. Frustrating you're again on a game where
Speaker 2: they were their own worst, enemies their own.
Speaker 1: Worst, yeah it was you know. What and it didn't
Speaker 1: start off. Terrible, uh they were in it for about
Speaker 1: thirty eight. Minutes they were doing what they needed to.
Speaker 1: Do was it their best?
Speaker 2: Hockey? No But alsto was basically putting the team on his.
Speaker 2: Back brady scored two beautiful. Goals.
Speaker 1: Yes, Well and as a, sidebar if this past week
Speaker 1: hasn't convinced, if if if The Boston bruins front office
Speaker 1: is telling, us these are your three candidates for who's
Speaker 1: to get THE ce, next let's assume that those are
Speaker 1: the only three candidates that we are allowed to choose.
Speaker 1: From if this past week has not convinced, you That
Speaker 1: David posternach should be the next one with, that, SEE
Speaker 1: i want to hear why because that, game the game
Speaker 1: against The.
Speaker 2: Rangers how many games does he have to put this
Speaker 2: team on his?
Speaker 1: Back and not in the way like we would see
Speaker 1: let's Say Brad, marshan who had a tenacity and he
Speaker 1: would just kind of have the attitude of all, right
Speaker 1: if you're not gonna do, It i'm gonna do, it
Speaker 1: And i'm gonna get you excited Because i'm gonna do it, right, correct.
Speaker 2: Because you're gonna follow. Me you're gonna follow, me yes, Promised.
Speaker 1: Lamb posternach's approach has Been i'm gonna feed you who the,
Speaker 1: Passes i'm gonna set up the, plays and by, god
Speaker 1: you're going to score the.
Speaker 2: Goal and that's what he did all. Week that is
Speaker 2: what he did all.
Speaker 1: Week and people have been, saying, well how Come David,
Speaker 1: pasternak you know his goal?
Speaker 2: Scoring where's his goal?
Speaker 1: Scoring my?
Speaker 2: Dude the points that he is wrecking.
Speaker 1: Up SO i just in the last four, games in
Speaker 1: the last four games the stretch that we're going to
Speaker 1: talk about right, now, folks from starting with the sixth
Speaker 1: and ending with the game that The bruins played On
Speaker 1: sunday night Against. Pittsburgh four, games, yep two goals and
Speaker 1: seven assists for pasta and you, know not far behind.
Speaker 1: Him and we're going to talk about, this kiddo when
Speaker 1: we get to The rangers, game because that was his
Speaker 1: coming out. Party Is marrekstadina four, games four, goals three,
Speaker 1: assists seven. Points and then you've got a steady diet
Speaker 1: of solid points From Pablo Zach Victor, Ardwardson Elias. Slyndholm,
Speaker 1: okay after That seattle game and the fact that they
Speaker 1: were embarrassed yet, again nobody was happy with the way they,
Speaker 1: played including. Themselves they come home on home ice and
Speaker 1: finally start turning things.
Speaker 2: Around Why Why because they finally play five the five
Speaker 2: hockey and staying for the most, part staying out of
Speaker 2: the dam penalty. Box.
Speaker 1: Yeah the other thing THAT i realized that you, know,
Speaker 1: yes we have said basically since almost since day, one
Speaker 1: the penalty box is the biggest. Issue that they have
Speaker 1: to be five on.
Speaker 2: Five but it's not even just that being at five
Speaker 2: on five is so key to their.
Speaker 1: Success it also.
Speaker 2: Then allows lines like the cast elect lines to do their.
Speaker 1: Job we have not seen The identity line do their
Speaker 1: thing in forever because they have not been able to
Speaker 1: play their game because of being in the penalty. Box
Speaker 1: you it's it's it's the penalty box has a multitude
Speaker 1: of negative. Impacts, Right it's not just, okay you're down a, Player,
Speaker 1: okay you then you may allow a. Goal it means
Speaker 1: that critical players can't be out there on the lines
Speaker 1: that they're most effective for the number of minutes that
Speaker 1: they need to be out there to be, effective and
Speaker 1: we are seeing a very immediate direct result of what
Speaker 1: happens when you're not going to the box constantly for
Speaker 1: stupid stick in, fractions.
Speaker 2: Right and it's a very different thing when you can
Speaker 2: put that trio that you referred to on a on
Speaker 2: a penalty kill as opposed to doing their regular. Job
Speaker 2: they can really be as aggressive as they are and
Speaker 2: as tenacious as you are because they're charged with the responsibility,
Speaker 2: of you, know helping to kill off a.
Speaker 1: Penalty.
Speaker 2: Right so it just stands to reason and IF i
Speaker 2: have said all along that in order for this team
Speaker 2: to be able to compete and play within the structure
Speaker 2: that they want to play, in it has.
Speaker 1: To be by the bye. Hockey, yes, yes and AMAZINGLY
Speaker 1: i mean not to jump too far. Ahead but not
Speaker 1: only did we see a reduction in trips to the penalty,
Speaker 1: box the trips we did see to the penalty box
Speaker 1: were not the idiotic stick in. Fractions you, know we're
Speaker 1: talking about trips. Holds not Because hampus Lind holme's not
Speaker 1: in a lineup right, now.
Speaker 2: Your favorite player right. Now the penalties are NOT.
Speaker 1: I LOVE i like his game when he's able to,
Speaker 1: play and he's not in the penalty. Box he's being
Speaker 1: a bonehead right, now well not now because he's out
Speaker 1: with them as three.
Speaker 2: Injury but.
Speaker 1: You, know there are certain acceptable and unacceptable, penalties and
Speaker 1: the fact of the matter is That boston was not
Speaker 1: only just getting a ridiculous number of, penalties the type
Speaker 1: of penalty is also. Huge and so the penalties that
Speaker 1: we did see WERE i almost want to call them
Speaker 1: either justifiable penalties because they were maybe a match penalty
Speaker 1: or like a not necessarily match but simultaneous penalty with
Speaker 1: the other, team or sometimes they're, unavoidable you, know watching
Speaker 1: my nerves right or like it, happens it's a it's
Speaker 1: a stupid. Penalty but like look. Physics you, Know i'm
Speaker 1: not going to be mad At MASON lowrii for sending
Speaker 1: a puck. Out it's not like he does it all the.
Speaker 1: Time but you, know the rest of, Them, OKAY i
Speaker 1: can live with that because this is. Hockey that's that's
Speaker 1: what the game. Is SO i was pleased on the,
Speaker 1: whole especially in that.
Speaker 2: Regard, no it was it was nice to see because,
Speaker 2: again concern was building up for me in that you,
Speaker 2: know you keep leaving points or losing. Games and This Eastern, conference,
Speaker 2: right no one really seems to want to separate themselves
Speaker 2: in The, east so you're leaving crucial points on the
Speaker 2: table at this point in. Time so you, know The
Speaker 2: bruins come.
Speaker 1: Back home and they right the ship against The Calgary,
Speaker 1: flames a little bit of redemption after having lost to
Speaker 1: them on the.
Speaker 2: Road came up with a four to one. Win we
Speaker 2: had a little bit of balance scoring in that, game
Speaker 2: which was nice to. See we had goals From Sean,
Speaker 2: Corally Elias lindholme and even strength goal From Elias lindholme
Speaker 2: And Mason murai And Casey middlestat Or pasalo saved their
Speaker 2: ass in this, game especially in the second period where you,
Speaker 2: know The bruins Let calgary think that they had some
Speaker 2: signs of life and you, know spent a little bit
Speaker 2: more time than they should have in The bruins defensive.
Speaker 2: Zone and here's a good stat in this, game this
Speaker 2: is where you start to see a little bit of
Speaker 2: a turnaround for The. Bruins only three penalties taken in this,
Speaker 2: game one for a. Period that's not a lot to ask.
Speaker 2: Guys one penalty per period is. Doable, yeah and not
Speaker 2: a single one of them was a stick in, Fraction
Speaker 2: so you, know.
Speaker 1: These are penalties that are part of, game you, know,
Speaker 1: interference a, trip, okay, fine you. Know the other key
Speaker 1: element was That boston scored. First they are definitely a
Speaker 1: team that needs that right, now because it's it's it's
Speaker 1: always going to be harder when you're you're the team
Speaker 1: that doesn't score first to have you always then have
Speaker 1: to score two goals to get at least, ahead you,
Speaker 1: know and.
Speaker 2: It's just a much harder.
Speaker 1: Lift and this, team while they are not a bad,
Speaker 1: team their ability to convert on their many many excellent,
Speaker 1: plays many excellent, chances all these, opportunities it's just something
Speaker 1: that's not happening with a frequency that we would certainly
Speaker 1: like to. See and so to start a game ahead
Speaker 1: is particularly critical for this team this, season and chasing
Speaker 1: a game takes more energy and it just. Does it
Speaker 1: stands to, reason it just. Does, Yes And i'm still
Speaker 1: super nervous when we go into a second. Period that
Speaker 1: still seems to be for the most part the time
Speaker 1: that If boston has a good control over the, first
Speaker 1: the second period is still seemingly the exception of The
Speaker 1: rangers game their weakest, period so it's still mildly. Stressful
Speaker 1: BUT i was glad That boston was able to capitalize
Speaker 1: in The calgary game on the continued chances That corposollo gave,
Speaker 1: them because many a time we have seen them squander those,
Speaker 1: chances AND i think in this case some of this
Speaker 1: was luck Because Dustin wolf had played the night, before
Speaker 1: and typically you don't in MODERN nhl. Games you're not
Speaker 1: seeing your starting goaltender do that that you're really seeing
Speaker 1: those get. Split and you, know Whatever calgary's strategy, was
Speaker 1: they're fighting to try and make the, playoffs so they're
Speaker 1: throwing whatever they can at. Them wolf is a fantastic.
Speaker 1: Goaltender the travel wasn't very. Far he really stymied The
Speaker 1: bruins forwards in their last, game like they really just
Speaker 1: couldn't get past. Him and so maybe the fact that
Speaker 1: he had played the night before was just enough that
Speaker 1: they were then able to actually get through.
Speaker 2: HIM i don't, know but it worked.
Speaker 1: OUT i don't. Care as long as we get the
Speaker 1: w that's that's that's that's A calgary, problem not A
Speaker 1: ruin ye, As i'm. Concerned so the fact that you
Speaker 1: know they, have they're taking advantage of those. Opportunities, yeah
Speaker 1: is is big in my. View so then let's fast
Speaker 1: forward to the game that Was NATIONAL tv Game january
Speaker 1: tenth or two original. Sixteens, Yeah York rangers celebrating their centennial,
Speaker 1: season so they wore their centennial, jerseys which Gave They've
Speaker 1: bruins the opportunity to wear their home whites for a,
Speaker 1: change which was cool to. See i'm still old. SCHOOL
Speaker 1: i PREFER i would like to see from whites more
Speaker 1: often than. Not but whatever the case may.
Speaker 2: Be and you thought at Pet drop that this was
Speaker 2: going to be don't even tell me this is going
Speaker 2: to be the same as The Black friday game because
Speaker 2: second shot on Goal micausavanajad sport to WHICH i said
Speaker 2: in our, Discord swimon better be on a short leash
Speaker 2: today Because i'm not watching another seven spot and put
Speaker 2: up on The.
Speaker 1: Growers, yeah but, boy oh, boy did they make me
Speaker 1: eat my. Words The Boston Ruins yeah. Yeah ten.
Speaker 2: Goals, Yeah it's been a minute since they've had a
Speaker 2: game like.
Speaker 1: THAT i mean ten freaking, goals two different players with
Speaker 1: hat tricks.
Speaker 2: And a third on a hattie WATCH.
Speaker 1: I Mean maret Wh's tadanov? Like four? Goals, yeah four.
Speaker 2: Goals David pasternak six six assists points tied the, record
Speaker 2: the franchise record from most points in a single, game
Speaker 2: currently held by Both Ken hodge And Bobby.
Speaker 1: ORR i, mean it's, unbelievable. Unbelievable and not to take
Speaker 1: away anything from The bruins at, all because they they
Speaker 1: obviously they played really. Well but, again the thing That
Speaker 1: boston was able to do was to actually take advantage
Speaker 1: of the situation and, convert because the situation was the
Speaker 1: fact that Surprisingly Jonathan QUICK i believe he's the Winningest
Speaker 1: american goaltender in any tel AND i think that was.
Speaker 2: THAT abc was, right was a. MCDONAUGH i forget who said.
Speaker 2: It that was a Mercyful that wasn't all On. QUICK
Speaker 2: i mean, no, no it wasn't continue, dude after he got.
Speaker 1: Pulled you, know he's he's a fantastic, goaltender so and
Speaker 1: he's been put in this position where you, know he's
Speaker 1: an older. Goaltender his job is back, up it's just
Speaker 1: striking is. Out he hurt his knee and Then Adam, fox,
Speaker 1: yes and so it just seemed And quick also wasn't
Speaker 1: on his. GAME i mean to quote, you he was
Speaker 1: throwing a lot of pizzas out. There an just absolutely,
Speaker 1: unreal and this is something that this is not something
Speaker 1: that we have seen from a player of quick. Pedigree
Speaker 1: so they had a goaltender that was just giving them
Speaker 1: shots back to continue to pepper him. With and it
Speaker 1: seemed like The rangers just didn't show, up which is
Speaker 1: a surprise because they have been one of the best
Speaker 1: road teams and not just like good they annihilate teams
Speaker 1: on the.
Speaker 2: Road and that's WHY i was so shocking and WHY
Speaker 2: i was clenching my guts as soon as the buck
Speaker 2: dropped Where i'm, like.
Speaker 1: Are you kidding?
Speaker 2: Me be one of these games where The rangers are
Speaker 2: going to score a boatload of goals on someone else's.
Speaker 2: Ice that was the third loss in a row for The. Villagers,
Speaker 2: YES i was JUST i just pulled up thirteen. Stats
Speaker 2: so they lost To utah in overtime three to.
Speaker 1: Two they had a couple of days, off they lost
Speaker 1: The sabers five to, two and then they lost to
Speaker 1: The bees into two ouch OUCH. I this game for
Speaker 1: The Boston, BRUINS i think was one of the most
Speaker 1: important games that they could have right, now And i'll
Speaker 1: tell you why we are in the dog days of the.
Speaker 1: Season this is when it becomes a real. Slog you're
Speaker 1: at that point where you've been playing all of these.
Speaker 1: Games it's been compounded by the fact that they've been
Speaker 1: playing more games in a shorter period of. Time april
Speaker 1: still feels like a long ways away because it, is, yes,
Speaker 1: okay it is still very far away for this team
Speaker 1: that has gone up and. Down they have struggled as
Speaker 1: a team, mentally things just not going their. WAY a
Speaker 1: game like this hopefully reminded them that it's fun to
Speaker 1: play that it reminded them of the joy of what
Speaker 1: they get to do all every day of the, week and.
Speaker 2: Hopefully took some of that pressure off and just.
Speaker 1: Gave Them i'm not GONNA i don't want to say
Speaker 1: an easy, win because no win in The National Hockey
Speaker 1: league is an easy.
Speaker 2: Win but to just have a game like this where
Speaker 2: you've got all these fun things.
Speaker 1: Happening you've Got Pavel, zaka who's been in the league
Speaker 1: for a while, now he's a.
Speaker 2: Veteran ever first hat trick like that's. Phenomenal the team's gonna.
Speaker 2: LINE i felt a little badly for, him BECAUSE i
Speaker 2: don't think it was as celebrated as it would normally
Speaker 2: be because of that very late. Goal was it in
Speaker 2: the first, Period that wasn't really it wasn't looked at
Speaker 2: until you, know after the period was overain some degree
Speaker 2: and called a, Goal so things might not have been
Speaker 2: aware of the fact, that oh he got credited.
Speaker 1: With that they were.
Speaker 2: GOAL i mean friend of the Pod Mary, beth she
Speaker 2: was at the. Game she was already in line at
Speaker 2: the bathroom when.
Speaker 1: They called them.
Speaker 2: Back she didn't know that it.
Speaker 1: Happened but you, know it's gonna be an uplifting thing
Speaker 1: for the team to have him experience, this a veteran
Speaker 1: getting his first, kid getting his first In Husnadina minton
Speaker 1: get in two goals and contributing like he's been, contributing
Speaker 1: and pasta just being at the center of all of these.
Speaker 1: Plays like they needed a game like this with a
Speaker 1: result like, that to just lift them up out of
Speaker 1: the doldrums of this time of, year because the very
Speaker 1: next game was against The, penguins and it's back to.
Speaker 1: Business it's buckled down and get serious because they are
Speaker 1: fighting for a wild card spot up against The, penguins
Speaker 1: and AND i thought it was?
Speaker 2: Hysterical was it early on in the? Game where was
Speaker 2: It rempi who was wanting to go With zadorov or
Speaker 2: the other way? Around and the kid is just, like
Speaker 2: are you are you? Stupid are? You karin is already Toothpaste?
Speaker 1: Marina, YES i, mean are you truly? Stupid good On
Speaker 1: nikita for like saying TO i can't even? Bother Was
Speaker 1: someway right? Away? Exactly. Yeah and we joke in the
Speaker 1: in the discord, like, okay so is If boston scored ten,
Speaker 1: goals are they going to have any goals to score
Speaker 1: against The?
Speaker 2: Penguins, well.
Speaker 1: They had one goal and that's all they needed to
Speaker 1: get through that. Game that one was.
Speaker 2: Stressful that one was very stressful for.
Speaker 1: Me, WELL i think that game is the very definition
Speaker 1: of the grinded out games that we thought we would
Speaker 1: see when they announced, That, okay this is the way
Speaker 1: we want to, play this is our defensive.
Speaker 2: Structure JUST i just want to quickly go back one.
Speaker 2: Point on The rangers, game there was a penalty shot
Speaker 2: awarded To Vincent trocheck which was just fucking, ridiculous fucking.
Speaker 2: Ridiculous i'm sorry that was that was only made. Twofold
Speaker 2: in my, view the ref's feeling sorry for The New
Speaker 2: York rangers and the fact that they're on NATIONAL. Tv,
Speaker 2: oh let's throw a penalty shot in here for our
Speaker 2: NATIONAL tv. Audiences like it was Just, Lane it was absolutely.
Speaker 2: Lame you didn't have a clean, breakaway he was.
Speaker 1: Not there was not enough separation between him And charlie
Speaker 1: McAvoy to warrant a penalty. Shot so very, lame very.
Speaker 1: LAME i agree on the part of the.
Speaker 2: OFFICIALS i thought it was a Garbage to, me it's
Speaker 2: embarrassing as an official that you're making that call to
Speaker 2: award a penalty.
Speaker 1: Shot we move, on we move. On, yeah so uh it.
Speaker 2: Wins The penguins came to. Town Sidney crosby came to.
Speaker 2: Town he's always still very much so a threat That.
Speaker 1: Core you Got, Crosby, malkins still got gas in the.
Speaker 2: Tank. Tang the tang is still a little gnat on.
Speaker 1: Defense and no shortage of Former bruins players on that.
Speaker 1: Team apparently people's favorite colors are black and, yellow because
Speaker 1: we had we saw Justin, brazo.
Speaker 2: We Saw Parker.
Speaker 1: Wilderspoon he's he's he's their number he's one of their
Speaker 1: number One darren, guys that's. Yeah Conor clifton, There, YES i.
Speaker 1: Forgot he got traded From buffalo And corpusalo was just,
Speaker 1: Fantastic AND i think he was that fantastic because he
Speaker 1: had played within the.
Speaker 2: Week we know he's.
Speaker 1: Good he a Good, God, yeah he's he's, yes, yes, yes,
Speaker 1: yes and. Yes but you can't go oho for six
Speaker 1: on the power.
Speaker 2: PLAY i understand that The penguins are the number one
Speaker 2: penalty killing team in the, league but you still can't
Speaker 2: Go oho for six in a one nothing. Game you've
Speaker 2: got to capitalize on one or two of those opportunities
Speaker 2: to give yourself. Separation because what you do in an
Speaker 2: instance like, that when you have the likes Of Sidney
Speaker 2: crosby And Guinny malkin and the rest of the cast of, characters,
Speaker 2: hey you are giving them an opportunity to get themselves
Speaker 2: back in the. Game and there was no shortages of, that,
Speaker 2: ESPECIALLY i believe was it in the second period Where
Speaker 2: jonas had to make SOME a plus plus saves Against Sidney.
Speaker 1: Croski, yes he took a direct shot and then sid
Speaker 1: got the puck back on a rebound and then tried
Speaker 1: to do a backhanded shot right along the post And
Speaker 1: corpie was there with his.
Speaker 2: Glove it was unbelievable to see him.
Speaker 1: Just so on his. Game and you, Know boston came
Speaker 1: out really strong in that. Game in the first, period
Speaker 1: they led in shots on, goal but then from There
Speaker 1: pittsburgh was just throwing everything that they had at The,
Speaker 1: bruins at Corpus allo and they just couldn't get couldn't get.
Speaker 1: THROUGH i will Say i'm in one hundred percent agreement with.
Speaker 1: You when you have six power play, opportunities you got
Speaker 1: to convert on at least one of. Them, however if
Speaker 1: the trade off is staying out of the, box staying
Speaker 1: at five on at least having five players out there
Speaker 1: at all, Times i'm. Okay i'm okay with that trade.
Speaker 1: OFF i would rather see you know WHAT i, mean
Speaker 1: if we're only allowed to have one thing, again, yes,
Speaker 1: yes and. NO i mean you only had four shots on.
Speaker 1: Goal The bruins only had four shots on goal in
Speaker 1: the second period and many four shots on goal in
Speaker 1: the third, Period and So i'm looking at that going
Speaker 1: you had six kicks at a power play, opportunity even
Speaker 1: if you make it tune an. Up you have.
Speaker 2: To i'm, sorry you've got to be able to.
Speaker 1: Convert you have.
Speaker 2: To, so but they walk away with the crucial points
Speaker 2: that we. Need they are maintaining a push for a.
Speaker 1: While spot ahead of them right now is The Buffalo, sabers,
Speaker 1: who for some, reason pretty much everyone else in these
Speaker 1: races has played like forty four to forty five to
Speaker 1: forty six. Games buffalo's only played forty. Three it just
Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense to. Me but you are maintaining
Speaker 1: pace with The Washington.
Speaker 2: Capitals, yeah the only they have more loser points than you,
Speaker 2: do which is why they are ahead of you in That,
Speaker 2: well you have the same number of, points but because
Speaker 2: they have more loser, points.
Speaker 1: Yes they have, Also so The, capitals they've played forty six.
Speaker 1: Games they have twenty three wins To boston's twenty five,
Speaker 1: wins which is just. Obnoxious But boston, has you, know nineteen.
Speaker 1: Losses washington has seventeen. Losses but the difference there is
Speaker 1: again the overtime losses for The capitals is six and
Speaker 1: The bruins is. Two otherwise they are identical at fifty two.
Speaker 1: Points their points percentage is the same at five sixty
Speaker 1: five it's it's the.
Speaker 2: OVERTIME i, mean it's. Idiotic it's. Idiotic this, whole this
Speaker 2: whole wild card scenario race is is crazy because you've
Speaker 2: got The caps The bruins at fifty two. Points don't look,
Speaker 2: now but The Maple leafs are starting to figure things
Speaker 2: out In toronto and they're only they got their games in, hand,
Speaker 2: right and they have two games in. Hand they're sniffing
Speaker 2: on everyone's feels at fifty one, points as are The Pittsburgh. Penguins,
Speaker 2: now those those points last night were crucial for The
Speaker 2: bees as well as very hurtful to The.
Speaker 1: Penguins, yeah so. Yep, well and one other stat THAT
Speaker 1: i want to throw out there to point out to
Speaker 1: folks that's really really easy to understand and see when
Speaker 1: you're looking at the you, know let's say THE nhl
Speaker 1: dot com standing or any place that you go to
Speaker 1: look at the, standings typically teams that makes the playoffs
Speaker 1: are the ones that have a positive goal. Differential it's
Speaker 1: that diffdiff column that you'll, see and everyone below The
Speaker 1: Pittsburgh penguins has a negative gold, differential and that's typically
Speaker 1: not a good sign of things to. Come everybody, ELSE
Speaker 1: i mean is in the in the positive of for
Speaker 1: crying out. Loud The Tampa Bay lightning are at a
Speaker 1: plus thirty nine and The Red wings have come seemingly
Speaker 1: out of nowhere as, well BECAUSE i think it's just
Speaker 1: because we haven't seen much Of detroit play against The.
Speaker 1: Bruins all the other divisional team.
Speaker 2: Know and talk about a guy who's found the fountain of,
Speaker 2: youth As Patrick kane has. Been, yeah for, them they
Speaker 2: they're coming.
Speaker 1: In they're coming into THE Td garden having one three
Speaker 1: games in a, row, yes five three win Against, ottawa
Speaker 1: five one win against The canucks and a four nothing
Speaker 1: drubbing of The Montreal.
Speaker 2: Canadiens, now The Red wings are playing Tonight Monday night
Speaker 2: against The Carolina hurricanes and then need to make their
Speaker 2: way To boston play The bruins On tuesday, night which
Speaker 2: is a seven thirty start time because the game is
Speaker 2: being carried BY. Tnt detroit is at the top of
Speaker 2: The ATLANTIC ps standings right.
Speaker 1: Now so, yeah and this IS i, mean this is
Speaker 1: this is one where we can't leave points on the
Speaker 1: table because, oh absolutely. Not The Red wings Are they're
Speaker 1: twelve seven and three when they're, away so they're not
Speaker 1: necessarily guaranteed to run away with. It when it comes
Speaker 1: to playing In, boston they have more overtime losses on
Speaker 1: the road than they do at. Home so hopefully this
Speaker 1: means that we're going to see a good competitive game
Speaker 1: and That boston just, again if they stay out of the,
Speaker 1: box they continue doing what they've been doing this past,
Speaker 1: week they're gonna be. Okay they're gonna be. Okay then
Speaker 1: we have The.
Speaker 2: Kraken coming into town on a Reneaf thursday, night, yese
Speaker 2: The bruins will exact a little bit of, revenge, Yes
Speaker 2: and then they head off To chicago for An original
Speaker 2: six matchup against The, blackhawks who they've had a bit
Speaker 2: of an up and, down up and, down up and down.
Speaker 1: Season and that's another centennial. Team so there are three
Speaker 1: centennial teams in twenty twenty, six And detroit seems to
Speaker 1: be the only one that's having a good centennial season
Speaker 1: as opposed to The New York rangers and The chicago
Speaker 1: Black rangers and the Black.
Speaker 2: Hawks where, YEAH i DON'T i don't feel. THAT i
Speaker 2: don't feel after, that all, Right so but, Again, Bruins
Speaker 2: bruins are doing what they need to, do figured out
Speaker 2: that they need to stay out of the penalty.
Speaker 1: Box is it? Sustainable let's hope that it, is because
Speaker 1: clearly they've seen the benefit of successful results when they
Speaker 1: play five on five.
Speaker 2: Hockey And i'm not saying that they're. Not there's not
Speaker 2: going to be a game where there's an abundance of.
Speaker 2: Penalties but it can't be the norm any.
Speaker 1: LONGER i just.
Speaker 2: Can't here's hoping for a good. Week let's, hope all,
Speaker 2: Right so now we're going to get to our stick
Speaker 2: taps and penalty. Box, yes why don't we start with stick?
Speaker 1: Taps. UNSCORPUSLO i, mean he was amazing in his two
Speaker 1: games that we saw in the past. Week he gave
Speaker 1: The bruins every opportunity they actually took advantage of, it
Speaker 1: AND i WAS i couldn't believe. IT i, MEAN i
Speaker 1: should not have been so, prize BUT i. Was that
Speaker 1: it was the first shutout of the season by The.
Speaker 1: BEES i, KNOW i found that that was a very standarding,
Speaker 1: statistic but, wow, Yeah usually we're not seeing that happen
Speaker 1: for the first time In. January usually it's, LIKE i don't,
Speaker 1: know end Of, october sometime In, november right, right, Right
Speaker 1: but stick taps to the entire team for staying well
Speaker 1: behaved and keeping their hands to, themselves for their limited. Penalties,
Speaker 1: finally and of course the ultimate stick tap to That
Speaker 1: corally you Know castel like, LINE i mean that identity line.
Speaker 2: When they have they were they were good against The,
Speaker 2: rangers but, shit they were really good against The. Penguins
Speaker 2: they gave The penguins fits last, night app And marco
Speaker 2: wasn't afraid to play them Against crosby's, line which is
Speaker 2: that speaks volumes the job that those guys are. DOING i, agree,
Speaker 2: Yeah and you Know corrally's for like he's gonna jokingly
Speaker 2: say an old, man but old by hoppey standards on this.
Speaker 2: Team wropping the, gloves, yes, right mixing it, up not
Speaker 2: afraid to mix it.
Speaker 1: Up he's been waking up the you, know in the past,
Speaker 1: month so it's it's good to. See it's good to see.
Speaker 1: Him was in the penalty. Box what's in the penalty?
Speaker 1: BOX i mean the power, play which is just kind of.
Speaker 1: Ironic it's, like, uh, what what's that game The woodchucks
Speaker 1: or The gophers whatever that popped their head up and,
Speaker 1: oh whack them moll, as not even closed whack them
Speaker 1: all whack a. Mole, yeah you, know so this this
Speaker 1: week it's it's the power. PLAY i, mean one for
Speaker 1: three Against, seattle oh for Two, calgary one for three
Speaker 1: Against New, york oh for six against The.
Speaker 2: Pens not good, Enough not good.
Speaker 1: Enough and it's not for a lack of not having
Speaker 1: people that are able to. Score you.
Speaker 2: Know the one thing we didn't touch upon during this
Speaker 2: series of, games and we can just do it quickly
Speaker 2: here BECAUSE i know we're at just about a time Is.
Speaker 2: Morgan geeky has seemed to have hit a little bit
Speaker 2: of a roadwalk with, scoring and he had some game
Speaker 2: close in a couple of. OPPORTUNITIES i think he had
Speaker 2: been he was deferring a little too much in these
Speaker 2: in these recent.
Speaker 1: Games but we need to get him back back on
Speaker 1: his scoring scoring.
Speaker 2: Track And i'm not putting him in the penalty box
Speaker 2: because if it's not for, him, no, no this team
Speaker 2: would be in a freaking rail of heart right.
Speaker 1: Now but it's just something to look out.
Speaker 2: FOR i think his particular situation is two, things.
Speaker 1: Right it's the league has gotten wise to him and
Speaker 1: now are they're viewing him as a legitimate, threat and
Speaker 1: so they're going to cover him.
Speaker 2: More they're going to go after him, more just like
Speaker 2: they do With.
Speaker 1: Pasta and the other thing is players have these things,
Speaker 1: happen and he just needs something to spark. Him so
Speaker 1: if that means hopefully when he's, back that he gets
Speaker 1: some playing time With pasta to get lit up, Again
Speaker 1: i'm sure they're going to figure it out and they're
Speaker 1: going to get him squared, away BECAUSE i don't he
Speaker 1: is not a flash in the. PAN i really don't think. So,
Speaker 1: NO i don't think so.
Speaker 2: EITHER i know that that was something that was kind
Speaker 2: of a monkey on his back right where he came from.
Speaker 2: Previously but let's just. Hope and, AGAIN i think all
Speaker 2: all scores go through a little bit of a. Lull
Speaker 2: we've seen it happen across the. League we've seen it
Speaker 2: happen To David. Postorov just let's hope it's just.
Speaker 1: Temporary. Yes so with that, said folks know The ruins
Speaker 1: are still fighting for a wild card. Spot all we
Speaker 1: can ask them to do is continue, fighting continue playing
Speaker 1: up to their.
