Speaker 1: Stop me if you've heard this one before. Twenty guys
Speaker 1: fly to the West Coast, work really hard, but fail
Speaker 1: to take advantage of easy opportunities and let a win
Speaker 1: slip from their grasp. Yep, that's right. This Bruins road
Speaker 1: trip has started out as a copy paste of their
Speaker 1: last Western trip. But with key guys hurt and out
Speaker 1: of the lineup, can the young guns pick up the
Speaker 1: slack and keep Boston at second in the Atlantic. This
Speaker 1: is a Bruins tape to tape snapshot.
Speaker 2: The Boston Bruins started their West Coast trip on Wednesday
Speaker 2: night with a four to three loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Speaker 2: The bad news with regard to the start of this
Speaker 2: trip is that it appears that the Bruins will be
Speaker 2: likely without Charlie McAvoy as a result of having some
Speaker 2: quote unquote facial surgery, as was put by Marco Sturm.
Speaker 2: Good news is that Elias Lindholm did travel with the
Speaker 2: team to the West Coats coast, and the hope is
Speaker 2: that he'll slot back into the lineup at some point.
Speaker 2: The game itself against the Anaheim Ducks, to me, was
Speaker 2: won and lost in the first period by the Boston Bruins.
Speaker 2: The Bruins got down two to nothing quickly to the
Speaker 2: Anaheim Ducks, and although they were able to cut the
Speaker 2: score to two to one in that first period, they
Speaker 2: were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities that presented themselves.
Speaker 2: And credit to the Anaheim Ducks goaltender Lucas Dostell, who
Speaker 2: was absolutely excellent in that game against the Bruins. The
Speaker 2: Bruins were statistically the better team in that game, but
Speaker 2: unfortunately a couple of defensive lapses is what cost the
Speaker 2: Bruins points in this game. And I have some motherly
Speaker 2: advice for the Boston Bruins. You have all worked so
Speaker 2: hard to get yourself into a playoff posi position and
Speaker 2: at the top of the Atlantic Division standings. Don't miss
Speaker 2: out on opportunities to take points away. We are not
Speaker 2: expecting you to win every game on a road trip,
Speaker 2: or on this road trip in particular, but a game
Speaker 2: such as you played against the Anaheim Ducks where you
Speaker 2: walk away with simply no points is not going to
Speaker 2: help your cause in trying to stay at the top
Speaker 2: of the standings.
Speaker 1: The Bruins stayed in Southern California after last night's loss
Speaker 1: and they face a dark horse in the La Kings.
Speaker 1: They may have had a slow start, but this Kings
Speaker 1: team is making sure that Copaitar's farewell tour is a
Speaker 1: memorable one one thing in Boston's favor. They're hanging out
Speaker 1: in LA waiting for the Kings to come home from
Speaker 1: a trip to the Bay Area where they play the
Speaker 1: Sharks on Thursday and then immediately the Bees on Friday night.
Speaker 1: Probably explains the ten thirty pm Eastern seven thirty pm
Speaker 1: Pacific start time. In fact, not only are the Kings
Speaker 1: playing the Bruins on the second night of a back
Speaker 1: to back, it's the King's first game home off of
Speaker 1: a six game mostly East Coast road trip, so maybe
Speaker 1: they'll be extra tired. This could be quite the battle
Speaker 1: of the goaltenders if we see Kemper and Net against Swayman.
Speaker 1: I'm actually curious to see which goalie they play in
Speaker 1: San Jose and which in LA. That might tell us
Speaker 1: how much of a threat they think Boston is. If
Speaker 1: it is Kemper and Net, he's been doing exceptionally well.
Speaker 1: Both he and Swayman have nearly identical stats at this
Speaker 1: point in the season, a sub three goals against over
Speaker 1: nine hundred safe percentage and they both have over ten GSAX.
Speaker 1: Go read the substack post to put out this past
Speaker 1: weekend about GSAX and why you should be using it
Speaker 1: in your evaluation of goalies from here on. Out link
Speaker 1: is in the notes. On the skater side of things,
Speaker 1: the Kings are considered pretty even in their playing style,
Speaker 1: if maybe a little boring. They've struggled much of the
Speaker 1: season so far, with their gold differentials only just going
Speaker 1: into the positive on November thirteenth, But don't let that
Speaker 1: fool you. With players like Perry and Fiala seriously overperforming
Speaker 1: when it comes to goal scoring and can be shooting
Speaker 1: like his life depends on it, the Bruins are going
Speaker 1: to have to figure out a way to get on
Speaker 1: top of prime opportunities. Again. Remember our expectation during the
Speaker 1: losing streak was that if Boston could just manage one
Speaker 1: more goal on the power play, or take advantage of
Speaker 1: just one more opportunity, no matter what it is, it
Speaker 1: could really change the outcome of the game. They've got
Speaker 1: the right drive, persistence, and overall attitude. They just need
Speaker 1: to capitalize on it.
