1:22 Speaker 1: of a rink probably five days a week at this point.

1:25 Speaker 1: So and it's only gonna keep going every weekend. So

1:30 Speaker 1: here we go. This is really just the start, Let's

1:32 Speaker 1: be honest, because it's only November.

1:34 Speaker 2: Been there, done that, so I know what you're dealing

1:39 Speaker 2: with these days. In addition to the fact that you know,

1:42 Speaker 2: we had games that didn't start until ten ten thirty.

1:49 Speaker 2: Last night's game was a bit of a treat in

1:51 Speaker 2: being able to watch the entirety of it live.

1:55 Speaker 1: But was it a treat. I wouldn't have called it

1:58 Speaker 1: a treat, well, for sure, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

2:00 Speaker 2: Well we're gonna get to all of that, folks, because

2:03 Speaker 2: some of us is starting to get a tad bit

2:06 Speaker 2: annoyed with our Boston Bruins.

2:08 Speaker 1: Be that as it may, I am very much so

2:11 Speaker 1: looking forward to this entire week because, like I said,

2:14 Speaker 1: it's a big week. It's kind of the first milestone

2:19 Speaker 1: for the season where all of the teams are kind

2:22 Speaker 1: of inching closer to about game twenty to twenty two.

2:28 Speaker 1: That's usually a big marker for the first predictions around

2:33 Speaker 1: playoffs to begin. And as you recall, last year, I

2:37 Speaker 1: ran a little model to kind of make a guess

2:40 Speaker 1: as to where the Bruins were going to land, and

2:42 Speaker 1: I think it did a pretty decent job. And so

2:45 Speaker 1: keep an eye out on the sub stack to see

2:48 Speaker 1: how the Bruins are fair in the model this year.

2:52 Speaker 1: I'm optimistic but we will discuss shortly some of the hesitation.

3:27 Speaker 2: I'll have both of my kids at the Thanksgiving table.

3:34 Speaker 2: schedules aren't aligning, so selfishly, I get to have them

3:40 Speaker 2: with me for Thanksgiving and probably do a little bit

3:50 Speaker 2: attendance at the Black Friday Rowan's Rangers.

5:26 Speaker 1: situation in terms of Bruins news. Obviously, with injuries every

5:32 Speaker 1: team except for I think, like maybe Detroit is suffering

5:38 Speaker 1: injuries left and right.

5:40 Speaker 2: I'm already starting to lose track. Yeah, the list is

5:43 Speaker 2: getting long for each team. I've got the ESPN injury list,

5:48 Speaker 2: NHL injury list, and you're right, it looks like the

5:52 Speaker 2: actually the Detroit Red Wings and the LA Kings right now,

5:56 Speaker 2: probably the teams that don't have a laundry list of

6:00 Speaker 2: injuries right now piling up.

6:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, And there's been a lot of speculation and conversation

6:06 Speaker 1: that I've seen personally just across the different socials. Is

6:11 Speaker 1: it this compressed schedule? And certainly I think it's not helping.

6:16 Speaker 1: Perhaps some of our older guys across the league are

6:20 Speaker 1: going to be feeling it as they're playing much more

6:23 Speaker 1: frequently each week.

6:24 Speaker 2: Dance to reason, this has been a problem in the

6:27 Speaker 2: NFL to start seasons, because you know, they're there, there's

6:33 Speaker 2: only so many days they're practicing. Sometimes they're not practicing

6:36 Speaker 2: in pads, you know, right, Bruins haven't had a lot

6:40 Speaker 2: of practice time because of this chaotic schedule. They're not alone,

6:45 Speaker 2: so it makes sense they're not getting that practice time,

6:48 Speaker 2: they're not being able to access maybe the facility to

6:51 Speaker 2: get things treated that may be nagging at them because

6:55 Speaker 2: they're constantly, you know, back and forth, back and forth

6:58 Speaker 2: with all of these games. So yeah, I think, yeah,

7:02 Speaker 2: I don't think that this has been the benefit to

7:04 Speaker 2: have this kind of a chaotic schedule because of this

7:08 Speaker 2: Olympic break that's coming, which then lends me even more

7:13 Speaker 2: concern about what may happen to players once they go

7:18 Speaker 2: to Milan.

7:19 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you know, never underestimate the critical importance of

7:26 Speaker 1: just rest and recovery in part of the entire package

7:30 Speaker 1: of conditioning and being in top shape. I think folks

7:34 Speaker 1: tend to forget about the importance of that that resting

7:38 Speaker 1: is doing something, and that element isn't quite as robust

7:43 Speaker 1: this season as it has been in the past. And

7:45 Speaker 1: so it very likely that your hunch, dear listener, of

7:51 Speaker 1: all these injuries piling up a lot faster than usual

7:54 Speaker 1: because of this schedule, very legitimate interpretation of events.

8:00 Speaker 2: And the Bruins. The Bruins aren't alone, I mean, there

8:02 Speaker 2: have been other teams that are suffering some significant injuries

8:07 Speaker 2: two key players. We'll get we'll get to one of

8:10 Speaker 2: them in our around the rink of report. But yeah,

8:13 Speaker 2: it is. It is concerning. But as a lot of

8:17 Speaker 2: coaches are saying, because they get too tired of answering

8:20 Speaker 2: the question of do you have an update?

8:22 Speaker 1: Do you know when? But in the great they don't.

8:25 Speaker 2: So they've got to make two and they've got to

8:27 Speaker 2: figure it out with the guys that they have available

8:31 Speaker 2: to them.

8:31 Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And because of the increased number of games

8:36 Speaker 1: that can happen in the span of seven days, players

8:40 Speaker 1: are going to be missing more games because if an

8:44 Speaker 1: injury takes two weeks to recover, it takes two weeks

8:47 Speaker 1: to recover. Last season, two weeks may have been five games,

8:52 Speaker 1: six games. This season that could be almost ten games, right,

8:58 Speaker 1: you know, it's the impact is greater too. Yeah.

9:02 Speaker 2: So, and is it ideal? No, because you want your stars,

9:07 Speaker 2: you want your key players. You need your key players

9:09 Speaker 2: if you're going to exact, and you need your key

9:12 Speaker 2: players to stay in the lineup consistently. So you know,

9:16 Speaker 2: it's not an ideal scenario for teams, and it's not

9:19 Speaker 2: likely an ideal scenario for the league either.

9:22 Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah, Well, and then speaking of key players, e

9:27 Speaker 1: Lias Linnholm was back on Sunday night in San Jose,

9:32 Speaker 1: certainly easing him in a little bit, but still also

9:36 Speaker 1: throwing him in quite a bit as well. He admitted

9:39 Speaker 1: after the first period that you know, he didn't actually

9:42 Speaker 1: say the words that he was gassed, but he referenced

9:46 Speaker 1: needing to get his breathing back under control, which means

9:50 Speaker 1: he was huffing and puffing a little bit, right right then,

9:53 Speaker 1: I think we saw that with hampuslind Holme.

9:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, when he first got back into the lineup, you know,

9:59 Speaker 2: the first first period of the first game he played,

10:02 Speaker 2: he looked a bit slow and out of sorts, and right,

10:06 Speaker 2: there's something to be said for building up your stamina.

10:15 Speaker 2: but then to get into the actual nitty gritty of

10:19 Speaker 2: a game is a very different thing altogether, exactly.

10:22 Speaker 1: And as I believe someone in our Discord group mentioned

10:26 Speaker 1: in the in the game day chat last night, which

10:28 Speaker 1: if you're not part of the Discord group, you should

10:30 Speaker 1: absolutely join us, especially for game days. And welcome to

10:37 Speaker 1: and someone had commented that Linnholm was also the type

10:43 Speaker 1: of player who was a little bit slower to ramp

10:45 Speaker 1: up anyway, So his turnaround time to getting back to

10:49 Speaker 1: where we saw him really moving at the start of

10:53 Speaker 1: the season could also be a couple of games as well.

10:55 Speaker 1: But that's fine. It is what it is. He's out there.

10:58 Speaker 1: We want him to get better, we want to see

11:00 Speaker 1: him continue that upper trajectory.

11:01 Speaker 2: Getting guys back is a positive sign, and we'll get

11:05 Speaker 2: to yes, the necessity of why we need to get

11:08 Speaker 2: these regulars back in the lineup, because I am becoming

11:13 Speaker 2: concerned about two very specific areas of the Bruins game

11:17 Speaker 2: of late Yeah, and.

11:19 Speaker 1: On the flip side, Charlie McAvoy. Obviously we have not

11:22 Speaker 1: had any new news. However, his wife did post a

11:26 Speaker 1: picture of him and their son and it was in

11:29 Speaker 1: black and white, and my dad even made the comment

11:33 Speaker 1: it's a good thing that it was done in black

11:35 Speaker 1: and white, and I was like, that's a fair point.

11:37 Speaker 1: I know it was artistic. I know she does a

11:39 Speaker 1: lot of pictures like that, but he's probably all sorts

11:42 Speaker 1: of colors too, because he's now got the face of

11:44 Speaker 1: an NHL defenceman and.

11:47 Speaker 2: Just quickly on her post, and maybe I'm reading too

11:50 Speaker 2: much into it, but her post, and I can't remember

11:53 Speaker 2: the exact words, but she made reference to the last

11:56 Speaker 2: couple of weeks have been a little bit challenging in

11:59 Speaker 2: their household, and both of her boys are very tough.

12:02 Speaker 2: So now I'm starting to wonder if the day that

12:05 Speaker 2: Charlie McAvoy was away from the team for personal reasons

12:09 Speaker 2: and Mike Sullivan was also away for personal reasons, I

12:12 Speaker 2: wonder if you know, there was some ailment or something

12:15 Speaker 2: to their young son that necessitated him being away, or

12:19 Speaker 2: both of them being away, and her making that reference

12:22 Speaker 2: to to both both of her boys being being tough.

12:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, that was my assumption when Charlie wasn't there, because

12:30 Speaker 1: I mean, that would make the most sense. And then

12:32 Speaker 1: that kind of reaffirmed that general assumption and reaffirmed right.

12:36 Speaker 2: So glad, glad, everything is okay. Named macavoy household. He

12:41 Speaker 2: does look like from that photograph that he basically swallowed

12:45 Speaker 2: a bag of acorns. It does not look comfortable in

12:48 Speaker 2: any way, shape or form.

12:50 Speaker 1: Hopefully he has quick healing powers. Yeah, and I would

12:54 Speaker 1: have to imagine he his jaw like probably a wired

12:58 Speaker 1: shut and as you alluded, his normal chipmunk cheeks are

13:02 Speaker 1: on steroids at this point, right. But in other news,

13:07 Speaker 1: you know, the Bruins also said goodbye to a player

13:12 Speaker 1: last week. Johnny Beecher was placed on waivers. When we

13:14 Speaker 1: actually spoke a week ago, Bye Johnny. Yep, we when

13:19 Speaker 1: we last spoke he was we were in the middle

13:21 Speaker 1: of that time period and he did get claimed by Calgary.

13:25 Speaker 1: He was placed on waivers, presumably because of cap compliance issues,

13:30 Speaker 1: as we had discussed. And you know, when you get

13:32 Speaker 1: put on waivers, the GM is going in fully.

13:36 Speaker 2: Aware of the fact that is the potential.

13:38 Speaker 1: Someone may claim him. And it was definitely going in

13:41 Speaker 1: that direction, whether it was because he wasn't going to

13:44 Speaker 1: be getting the playing time that he probably needs as

13:47 Speaker 1: a young player or whatnot. But Johnny Beacher, we hardly

13:50 Speaker 1: knew you golf clap to Marco Sturm, who was very,

13:55 Speaker 1: very on point and very honest and open when you

13:58 Speaker 1: said about Johnny b Tea that he had been given

14:01 Speaker 1: numerous opportunities, numerous opportunities at the start of the season,

14:06 Speaker 1: including training camp, and if I'm remembering correctly, he was

14:10 Speaker 1: one of the few guys I think who played pretty

14:13 Speaker 1: much every preseason game with the hope that, you know,

14:16 Speaker 1: something would pop for this kid. But how many opportunities

14:21 Speaker 1: do you afford someone if they are not going to

14:24 Speaker 1: take whole and complete advantage of those opportunities. So, yes,

14:29 Speaker 1: maybe we can criticize John Sweeney or you know, another

14:33 Speaker 1: potential high draft pick that didn't pan out, for whatever

14:36 Speaker 1: the case may be. But in this instance, it isn't

14:40 Speaker 1: as if the opportunities weren't provided to John Beecher to

14:44 Speaker 1: make a case to stay as a regular member of

14:48 Speaker 1: the big Boy roster, for sure. And I also wonder

14:53 Speaker 1: if earlier in the season we were hearing from Marco

14:56 Speaker 1: Sturm saying people have to buy in, people have to

14:58 Speaker 1: buy in, and we stopped hearing that when we stopped

15:03 Speaker 1: seeing the likes of Mason Laurie and Jod Beecher. And

15:08 Speaker 1: I'm just again, I don't know anything in particular, but

15:12 Speaker 1: I'm just making an assumption, And so yeah, the message

15:16 Speaker 1: might have gotten through Mason's head. These younger players either

15:21 Speaker 1: can't or won't learn this new system, and that these

15:25 Speaker 1: older players who are maybe a little bit more veteran

15:30 Speaker 1: or have more experience, or just simply right up right,

15:35 Speaker 1: like simply buy in because you see Marqueest like he's

15:38 Speaker 1: a pretty young guy. Although in my mind I keep

15:42 Speaker 1: I keep equating him to Nick Felino for some reason,

15:45 Speaker 1: and so I think he's older than he is, But

15:47 Speaker 1: he's actually quite young. He's he's bought into the system.

15:52 Speaker 1: He's flourishing under Storm's system. So I don't know, that's

15:56 Speaker 1: just me kind of making a general assumption based on

15:59 Speaker 1: the fact that Stam said these comments.

16:02 Speaker 2: Those people don't play. We don't hear these comments anymore.

16:05 Speaker 2: And we've also heard a great deal about accountability, and

16:11 Speaker 2: there was an issue in the past with this team

16:14 Speaker 2: and referring again to last season, lack of accountability. And

16:18 Speaker 2: so for me, I like the fact that players are

16:22 Speaker 2: being held accountable and being held to a standard of

16:26 Speaker 2: this is what we need from you. If we don't

16:29 Speaker 2: get it from you, there's a potential that someone else

16:33 Speaker 2: is going to step into that role. No, there's no

16:38 Speaker 2: time to joke about that anymore.

16:40 Speaker 1: No, no, no, especially this season, especially this season, there's

16:44 Speaker 1: no time switching gears to players who are really taking

16:50 Speaker 1: off and taking advantage of every minute they have out

16:52 Speaker 1: on the ice. One year ago, if you told me

16:55 Speaker 1: that a Boston Bruin player would be leading the NHL

17:01 Speaker 1: and goals scored right, whose name is not David Pasternak,

17:05 Speaker 1: My guess would not have been Morgan.

17:08 Speaker 2: Geeky because this it's it's amazing, it's I know, I know,

17:12 Speaker 2: and you know we talked about him during our preview

17:15 Speaker 2: shows and the fact that we all we both agree

17:20 Speaker 2: that in order for this team to be successful, we

17:23 Speaker 2: needed to get more out of certain players and that

17:26 Speaker 2: included Morgan Geek and Pavel Zaka and Elias Lindholm to date,

17:32 Speaker 2: to date, in my view, Morgan Geek has been the

17:35 Speaker 2: only one of those three that has far exceeded thus

17:39 Speaker 2: far what we thought he could bring to the table.

17:42 Speaker 2: Now Elias has been injured, so I'll take that, and

17:46 Speaker 2: you know, we take that into consideration. I'm not sure

17:49 Speaker 2: what is going on with Pavlaka, but do we need

17:53 Speaker 2: more from you? Like we absolutely need more from you,

17:57 Speaker 2: certainly in terms of boring.

18:00 Speaker 1: He's been doing a good job in terms of the

18:05 Speaker 1: playmaking silent aspect of what it means to be a center.

18:10 Speaker 1: So I'm not dissatisfied with him on that front. Because

18:14 Speaker 1: from a general job description, I think he's doing that

18:17 Speaker 1: job well, but you're one hundred percent right in that

18:21 Speaker 1: right now. In addition to doing that basic job, we

18:25 Speaker 1: also do need him to be scoring right now because

18:30 Speaker 1: that's become a little bit of an issue. It's getting

18:35 Speaker 1: difficult to find the back of the net and we

18:38 Speaker 1: just need some of these other guys to be able

18:40 Speaker 1: to get it in on that front. I agree we

18:43 Speaker 1: just need him a little bit more from him in

18:45 Speaker 1: that regard.

18:46 Speaker 2: But I think Geeky is pretty He is stunning the

18:50 Speaker 2: hockey world, in the hockey league.

18:52 Speaker 1: He is. He is my favorite step from this weekend.

18:57 Speaker 1: It kind of made me laugh. It's not a very

18:59 Speaker 1: puzzive stat, but it is positive for him. On this

19:02 Speaker 1: road trip, the Bruins scored a grand total of six goals.

19:07 Speaker 2: Yes, five of them were by handiki yep. And so

19:12 Speaker 2: while that is wonderful for Morgan Geeky, it lends itself

19:17 Speaker 2: to a further conversation that we're going to have where

19:21 Speaker 2: the hell is everybody else? Because going back to the

19:24 Speaker 2: player we were just talking about avel Zaka. In that

19:28 Speaker 2: same period of time, Zaka has one assist and he's

19:31 Speaker 2: a minus three. Now, I do know, folks that does

19:35 Speaker 2: spend time on the penalty kill as well, and that

19:38 Speaker 2: has been another mounting thorn in my side.

19:42 Speaker 1: Yep, well, why don't you take us down that path then, Maria?

19:46 Speaker 1: What's bugging you about the Bruins this week? Okay?

19:49 Speaker 2: So I have been giving them their flowers, right, and

19:52 Speaker 2: we are trying to preach patients because we understand what

19:57 Speaker 2: this roster is and we understand that we're trying to

20:01 Speaker 2: play both sides of defence with this team. However, you

20:05 Speaker 2: cannot continue, You cannot continue to take as many goddamn

20:10 Speaker 2: penalties as you do in the course of a game

20:13 Speaker 2: and expect to come out ahead in those games. Because

20:17 Speaker 2: while your penalty kill has been tremendous this season, you're

20:21 Speaker 2: now raging five on three, five to three penalty minutes

20:26 Speaker 2: and last night's game against San Jose that cost you

20:31 Speaker 2: the game. They scored two power play goals because you

20:35 Speaker 2: are all undisciplined with your sticks and you're letting the

20:40 Speaker 2: speed of opposing teams get the better of you. The

20:45 Speaker 2: Bruins currently are second in the league in the number

20:49 Speaker 2: of penalty minutes they accute. They have accumulated, only behind

20:53 Speaker 2: the Calgary Flames. The Bruins are the number one team

20:56 Speaker 2: in the league in affording or providing play opportunities to

21:01 Speaker 2: the opposing team. Second behind them is the Calgary Flames. Now,

21:06 Speaker 2: I don't know how you'd think that you're going to

21:08 Speaker 2: stay in a potential playoff scenario when you're constantly going

21:15 Speaker 2: in and out of the box and you're not allowing

21:18 Speaker 2: your skilled players to stay on the ice consistently. It's

21:22 Speaker 2: starting to tick me off, and I'm sure it's starting

21:26 Speaker 2: to tick off the coaching staff as well.

21:29 Speaker 1: Get your shit together, Yeah, you can't have what happened

21:35 Speaker 1: last night in the San Jose game happen every single

21:39 Speaker 1: game in that every game. Now we're killing off five

21:43 Speaker 1: on threes, right, but not even just the constant penalties.

21:47 Speaker 1: But what ends up happening is in the final six

21:52 Speaker 1: minutes of a game, you finally finally get David Poster

21:57 Speaker 1: knock out there, and they finally are a to make

22:00 Speaker 1: a big push, and a good push, a very concerted effort,

22:05 Speaker 1: I would say, of sixty minutes of hockey, the final

22:09 Speaker 1: eight minutes of the game were the only exciting interesting

22:14 Speaker 1: minutes of this game because they finally had their best

22:20 Speaker 1: players out there making the push. I mean, there were

22:23 Speaker 1: some beautiful plays that happened in those eight minutes, but

22:27 Speaker 1: you cannot rely on the pressure of the clock running

22:31 Speaker 1: out to win your game. You cannot do that. But

22:36 Speaker 1: they had to in this case, not because of game

28:08 Speaker 1: A couple of players to keep an eye on got

28:11 Speaker 1: Chris Pelosi. He was drafted in twenty twenty three. He's

28:15 Speaker 1: currently a sophomore at Quinnipiac and he's right now second

28:19 Speaker 1: in goals in the ECAC and thirty fifth overall in

28:22 Speaker 1: the entire nc DOUBLEA. So he's the highest of all

28:25 Speaker 1: the Bruins prospects, and he actually had a hat trick

28:28 Speaker 1: the other night. He's a guy definitely to keep an

28:31 Speaker 1: eye on. Again, ECAC is not as competitive, but they've

28:37 Speaker 1: had national champions in recent years. Cooper Simpson is another

28:42 Speaker 1: one that we've talked about. He was drafted in twenty

28:45 Speaker 1: twenty five. He's playing in the USHL, and he's actually

28:48 Speaker 1: committed to the University of North Dakota, so we won't

28:50 Speaker 1: likely see him for a little bit, at least probably

28:54 Speaker 1: a couple of years. He's currently he's third in points

28:58 Speaker 1: in the entire USA, and he is eighth in all

29:02 Speaker 1: time goals scored in Minnesota high school hockey history, with

29:06 Speaker 1: one hundred and thirty nine in four seasons, averaging a

29:08 Speaker 1: goal a game. So this is the guy who's got

29:10 Speaker 1: a lot of potential that we need to keep our

29:12 Speaker 1: eyes and ears open for. Of course, James Hagens, this

29:17 Speaker 1: is the guy that everybody is chomping at the bit

29:20 Speaker 1: waiting for him for his time to come. He's our

29:22 Speaker 1: twenty twenty five first round pick. He's seventh overall, he

29:25 Speaker 1: just turned nineteen. He's at BC still for his second season,

29:30 Speaker 1: and he's doing everything we want to see him doing.

29:33 Speaker 1: He's got his point per game this season, for the

29:36 Speaker 1: past two years. Right now, he's their top player. Just

29:39 Speaker 1: in the past week he's scored twice against last year's

29:43 Speaker 1: Hockey East Champs. Humane He's consistently a good player, shows

29:47 Speaker 1: incredible hockey sense, and he's taking the lead both as

29:51 Speaker 1: a goal leader and a playmaker. And last year he

29:53 Speaker 1: played on a line with Brian Leonard and Gay Pirot,

29:56 Speaker 1: who obviously both went on to sign with their respective

29:59 Speaker 1: NHL teams after two seasons. He's been playing at wing

30:04 Speaker 1: this season, although I guess officially technically he's a center,

30:08 Speaker 1: and he's projected to be chosen for the second year

30:11 Speaker 1: in a row for the US World Juniors. And what

30:15 Speaker 1: would be key is if you recall Maria, last year,

30:19 Speaker 1: Boston Bruins were the only NHL team that did not

30:23 Speaker 1: send a prospect to juniors that was officially tied to them. Yes,

30:27 Speaker 1: that's right, that's right, and actually this year we might

30:31 Speaker 1: have four. In addition to Hagen's, will Zellers is another one.

30:35 Speaker 1: He was drafted in twenty twenty four actually by the Avalanche,

30:38 Speaker 1: and his rights were acquired by Boston in twenty twenty

30:41 Speaker 1: five as part of that coiled Parade, so he was

30:43 Speaker 1: originally committed to be U, but then he reopened his

30:46 Speaker 1: recruitment and then went to North Dakota. He's also almost

30:50 Speaker 1: a point per game player this season in his freshman year,

30:53 Speaker 1: second on the on the roster, and it's important to

30:56 Speaker 1: note that he's number one for North Dakota. Senior Ben

30:59 Speaker 1: s Dringd is having a record year since Zeller joined

31:02 Speaker 1: the team, and Stringden has already matched his stats from

31:04 Speaker 1: thirty eight games played last season. So it's not a

31:07 Speaker 1: coincidence that Zeller's is really lifting this other player up.

31:11 Speaker 1: Dean Laturno is a name that we've been hearing for

31:14 Speaker 1: the last couple of years. He was drafted in twenty

31:17 Speaker 1: twenty four. They moved him up to second line center

31:20 Speaker 1: at BC and right, and his first year was a

31:22 Speaker 1: little bit of a disappointment. I think things happened and

31:25 Speaker 1: it didn't quite work out in the way that we

31:26 Speaker 1: were all hoping. But this is finally his year. He's

31:30 Speaker 1: the third leading scorer, number one in shots, number three

31:33 Speaker 1: in faceoff wins, so massive improvement over last year, mostly

31:37 Speaker 1: because space opened up. As you know, Maria Hockey East,

31:41 Speaker 1: especially BUBC, those are stacked teams of guys who are

31:48 Speaker 1: really probably only there for one to two years before

31:52 Speaker 1: they make that leap up to the NHL. And so

31:55 Speaker 1: last year there just wasn't as much room for him,

31:59 Speaker 1: so he didn't have as much opportunity, so he didn't

32:01 Speaker 1: really produce as much. This year, with all that space,

32:04 Speaker 1: he's able to get things done. So like last year,

32:06 Speaker 1: he had planned on playing in the USHL, but a

32:09 Speaker 1: space had opened up at PC for him when Will

32:12 Speaker 1: Smith ended up signing with the Sharks. And how how

32:16 Speaker 1: fun of those two kids to watch, Celebrening and Will Smith? Like,

32:21 Speaker 1: you know, if if if Hagins fans out to be

32:24 Speaker 1: anything like either one of those kids, be fun fun

32:28 Speaker 1: to watch, I know. So another name possible World junior

32:32 Speaker 1: spot as Cole Chandler. He's in his second season with

32:36 Speaker 1: the Shewinigan.

32:38 Speaker 2: Oh my god, I can't even say this, but he's

32:39 Speaker 2: in the He's in the queue.

32:42 Speaker 1: French name Cataractus was probably completely butchered. Isn't he placed

32:47 Speaker 1: in the queue? This year he continues to develop offensively.

32:51 Speaker 1: He's always shown himself to be a playmaker, but this

32:54 Speaker 1: year he's improved his scoring as well, and he seems

32:57 Speaker 1: to have a pretty high season ceiling and he's only eighteens.

33:03 Speaker 1: very very much in the fall was because of his age.

33:07 Speaker 1: And he's committed to Northeastern for the twenty six twenty

33:09 Speaker 1: seven seasons. Again, we won't see him for a little bit.

33:12 Speaker 1: He's got a little bit more cooking to do, but

33:15 Speaker 1: hopefully we'll see him at World Juniors. And then Elliot Groenwald,

33:19 Speaker 1: he's a defenseman, drafted in twenty twenty four. This is

33:22 Speaker 1: also his second year at Quinnipiac. Another one to keep

33:25 Speaker 1: an eye out as a possible for World Juniors, as

33:28 Speaker 1: he was part of Team USA's Summer showcase. A super

33:32 Speaker 1: quick rundown on some of our guys. There are more

34:09 Speaker 2: lost to the Bruins. Yeah, that's Saturday matinee game. They

34:37 Speaker 1: this thirty three year old Maria, he's thirty three, not

34:42 Speaker 1: quite the spring Chicken, just a little bit, just a

34:46 Speaker 1: touch pass peak goalie age. He's played seventeen games already,

34:52 Speaker 1: he's got thirteen wins. Like you just don't see goalies

34:57 Speaker 1: played like this anymore. The curious to see if any

35:01 Speaker 1: of that slows down as Mackenzie Blackwood gets going again,

35:06 Speaker 1: because he was out for a while with some with

35:08 Speaker 1: an injury. So I mean, I'm not following the Abs

35:11 Speaker 1: close enough at this point to know what their plan

35:13 Speaker 1: is with him.

35:14 Speaker 2: Do you want to know what he's getting paid this

35:16 Speaker 2: season to do what he's doing for the Avalanche?

35:20 Speaker 1: Scott Wedgwood, what is he getting paid? One point stop.

35:49 Speaker 1: under paid, under valued position in the NHL. Because that's

35:57 Speaker 1: highway robbery. I think of him, I think Alex Lion.

36:04 Speaker 2: right into the lap of pundits who say, oh, you

36:07 Speaker 2: don't need to pay eight million dollars, eleven million dollars,

36:11 Speaker 2: twelve million dollars to a goalie. Wedgwood is hot right now.

36:16 Speaker 2: Why would you take him out of your lineup when

36:19 Speaker 2: your team is a wagon right now?

36:22 Speaker 1: I wouldn't do it. Well. And what's astonishing too, Scott

36:25 Speaker 1: Wedgwood is currently only making one point five. He had

36:28 Speaker 1: a contract extension, one year extension that only for next season,

36:33 Speaker 1: bumps him up to two point five. Meanwhile, meanwhile, and

36:38 Speaker 1: this is the guy they signed. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Blackwood is

36:42 Speaker 1: currently let's see one two. He's in the first year

36:47 Speaker 1: of his five year contract. They acquired him via trade,

36:51 Speaker 1: and he's making five point twenty five.

36:54 Speaker 2: So make it make sense? Any I mean, and again,

36:57 Speaker 2: that's not crazy money, right a starting goalie given what

37:03 Speaker 2: you know we have seen transpired here in Boston and

37:07 Speaker 2: New York with Chasterkin, with Chasterkin, but what what a

37:12 Speaker 2: freaking bargain? Now, yeah, you have the likes of Kill

37:15 Speaker 2: mccarr playing in front of you as well, you put

37:18 Speaker 2: a really good team in front of your goaltender. But

37:23 Speaker 2: even still talk about a freaking bargain.

37:26 Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I mean, if we want to even go

37:29 Speaker 1: so far as to look at goals save above expected.

37:33 Speaker 1: Now we've been talking, we've been talking about that in

37:35 Speaker 1: our last couple of snapshots, which is a really good

37:38 Speaker 1: way to determine just how good a goalie is independent

37:43 Speaker 1: of the guys in front of him. He has a

37:45 Speaker 1: plus nine goals saved above expected, which is just that's

37:51 Speaker 1: an insanely good number. That's an insanely, insanely good number.

37:55 Speaker 1: It means he's able to stop nine more goals than

38:01 Speaker 1: you would have expected an average goalie to be able

38:03 Speaker 1: to stop in any given game at this point. And

38:05 Speaker 1: he's played seventeen games, so it's a positive trend.

38:08 Speaker 2: I mean, again, you know we can talk about right,

38:11 Speaker 2: is this a sustainable pace.

38:14 Speaker 1: It's not a fluke at least right now. Is it sustainable?

38:17 Speaker 1: I don't know, because that's a lot of games already

38:20 Speaker 1: for a goalie.

38:20 Speaker 2: We've experienced firsthand seeing a team that's an absolute wagon

38:26 Speaker 2: in the league. We know how that story ended. But

38:28 Speaker 2: for the time being, when you're looking to find some

38:33 Speaker 2: separation in the league and pinpoint, okay, what are the

38:37 Speaker 2: teams that you want to aspire to have the same

38:40 Speaker 2: type of standard that the Avalanche? I mean, crazy good

38:44 Speaker 2: right now? Crazy good?

38:46 Speaker 1: Yeb now, speaking of goalies, also some around the rink

38:49 Speaker 1: news this kind of flu a little under my radar.

38:53 Speaker 1: I only kind of vaguely heard about this, but Connor

38:55 Speaker 1: Hellibuck is going to be out for a few weeks

38:58 Speaker 1: for quote unquote minor niecey four to six, right is

39:55 Speaker 1: consecutive regular season league games. He's got to sit out

40:08 Speaker 1: a game misconduct against the Islanders after boarding Alexander Romanov.

42:04 Speaker 1: San Jose game, the Anaheim game, it was frustrating.

42:16 Speaker 1: last week the expectation was you got to get three points,

42:21 Speaker 1: you can and should get six points, and the Bruins

42:29 Speaker 1: Not great, frustrating as hell because of all the reasons

45:26 Speaker 2: have them coming into your house the day after Thanksgiving.

45:29 Speaker 2: The Islanders are on a tear themselves right now. And

45:34 Speaker 2: for the love of God, can someone make sure that

45:38 Speaker 2: Kyle Paul Mary isn't left alone in front of our

45:41 Speaker 2: net because he has been a pain in the Bruins.

45:44 Speaker 1: Ass no matter what team he has played on.

45:48 Speaker 2: So I'm a little worried about this this stretch of games.

46:20 Speaker 1: have secondary scoring. Like you said, we've seen the secondary scoring.

46:26 Speaker 1: Why it's not producing, I can't tell you because I.

46:31 Speaker 2: Think I think Victor Person and Casey Middle being out

46:36 Speaker 2: of the lineup has had an impact on that because

46:39 Speaker 2: oh well, yeah, I forgot about him. They were developing, Yeah,

46:43 Speaker 2: some really really good chemistry. Arbudson was starting to heat up. Now, yes,

46:48 Speaker 2: can you can you keep the dam from breaking until

46:51 Speaker 2: you get those guys back. We don't know when those

46:54 Speaker 2: guys are coming back or what their status We don't know,

46:57 Speaker 2: And I don't know if you can continue know what

47:00 Speaker 2: the injury was to Casey Middle, We don't see it.

47:03 Speaker 2: Can you tread water or can right. You may be

47:07 Speaker 2: able to tread water, but you have got to friggin

47:10 Speaker 2: state out of the penalty box, and that's the key

47:15 Speaker 1: I think that they, in spite of not having Arvidson

47:23 Speaker 1: point how critical they are to this team reaching its

47:26 Speaker 1: full potential. Like as much as the talking heads were

47:29 Speaker 1: complaining about Casey Middlestat being this you know, waste of space, now,

47:33 Speaker 1: clearly we're kind of a little worse off without him,

47:37 Speaker 1: but I think we're okay as long as we're not

47:39 Speaker 1: in the box. You just cannot be in the box

47:42 Speaker 1: because if we have to see this Bruins team rely

47:45 Speaker 1: on top guys to get them through this rough injury stretch,

47:51 Speaker 1: those top guys have to be on the ice right period,

47:56 Speaker 1: end of sentence. And you're not getting a lot of

48:00 Speaker 1: offensive contribution from the defenceman on this team no right now.

48:05 Speaker 1: And again it's because those key defensemen who could potentially

48:08 Speaker 1: contribute offensively are either injured or they having to play

48:13 Speaker 1: twenty six twenty seven minutes a night because you can't

48:17 Speaker 1: stay out of the freaking penalty box. And in some

48:19 Speaker 1: instances those key defencemen are the perpetrators of said penalties.

48:25 Speaker 1: So like it's just this vicious cycle, and I'm sure

48:30 Speaker 1: it's driving the coaching staff.

48:32 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, crazy. Then you can see the look on

48:34 Speaker 2: Maco Sturm's face when these penalties are being called against

48:38 Speaker 2: the Bruins, the look.

48:39 Speaker 1: Of if steam could be coming out of his ears,

48:42 Speaker 1: it would right right, right, right right. So aside from

48:46 Speaker 1: those things, I mean, I think one stat that you

48:50 Speaker 1: pointed out to me was that against the La Kings,

48:53 Speaker 1: the Bruins were also destroyed in the faceoff dot. I

48:57 Speaker 1: think they.

48:58 Speaker 2: On the whole, the Ruins do pretty well in the

49:02 Speaker 2: faceoff dot.

49:03 Speaker 1: They've they recovered relatively nicely in their post Bergeron era

49:08 Speaker 1: without him. But this is a team that is also

49:12 Speaker 1: very reliant on as long as the faceoff wins are good,

49:18 Speaker 1: then you will see positive results kind of come out

49:21 Speaker 1: of that. Otherwise they're going to be struggling for much

49:23 Speaker 1: of the game. And while I'm not saying that the

49:26 Speaker 1: King's game was was definitely not a slog fest, I mean,

49:30 Speaker 1: it was a very very good, like great matchup. It was.

49:34 Speaker 2: It was a very good game it was, But again,

49:37 Speaker 2: we're not for more the Morgan Geeky Show.

49:41 Speaker 2: The rest of the team was not able to produce.

50:10 Speaker 2: statistical category of that game. So, but they lost it

50:18 Speaker 2: nothing quickly. Yes, and again, is it more kink geeky

50:22 Speaker 2: She scores you know, two power play goals in that game.

50:25 Speaker 2: You're in really good shape in the third period of

50:29 Speaker 2: that game, where you're looking at Okay, you can come

50:33 Speaker 2: out of this game with a point at a minimum
