2:44 Speaker 1: of course we're here to talk about the Boston Bruins. Yeah,

2:51 Speaker 1: that are happening. A couple of great pieces of news

2:57 Speaker 1: for a variety of our players. We've seen that Jordan

3:00 Speaker 1: Harris has been reactivated. If you recall, I believe it

3:04 Speaker 1: was a broken foot ankle, ankle maybe back in the fall.

3:08 Speaker 1: He had a stellar start to the season, and I

3:11 Speaker 1: have to say, I don't know if you've noticed this, Maria.

3:14 Speaker 1: The Bruins organization must really really believe in this kid,

3:20 Speaker 1: because he had that fantastic start. He basically made the

3:25 Speaker 1: team at a camp, had this thing happen. But if

3:30 Speaker 1: you watch behind the Bee or any of those kinds

3:34 Speaker 1: of things, he's always there. It's like he's travels with

3:39 Speaker 1: the team. He still gets to participate in all of

3:41 Speaker 1: these things like the siblings trip and this, that and

3:44 Speaker 1: the other. And I thought that was really, first of all,

3:47 Speaker 1: nice to be still so inclusive for him because he's

3:51 Speaker 1: been off the ice for three months time. Yeah, I

3:56 Speaker 1: like this kid very much. And let's not forget that

3:59 Speaker 1: when you know Mason laura I was putting his little

4:02 Speaker 1: time out there for a bit. I believe I said

4:06 Speaker 1: on this pot or maybe I said it on another

4:08 Speaker 1: show that I had called into that there was a

4:11 Speaker 1: potential that Mason Laurai could lose his job to Jordan Harris.

4:16 Speaker 1: That's how much I thought of his game, and maybe

4:20 Speaker 1: the organization feels the same way. I'm excited to see

4:27 Speaker 1: what he can bring back to the table if he

4:30 Speaker 1: gets the opportunity to slop back into the lineup at

4:34 Speaker 2: And I hope. I hope that he does. I really

4:39 Speaker 1: Yeah, I just remember thinking I really really liked this kid.

4:43 Speaker 1: And so as part of his reactivation, he's been assigned

4:48 Speaker 1: to Providence for conditioning stint.

4:50 Speaker 2: I believe this happened mid week this week. So he's

4:55 Speaker 2: only he didn't he score the game winning goal in

4:57 Speaker 2: overtime for Providence or having it Yes, just this past

5:04 Speaker 1: So he's only just back and already making a difference.

5:08 Speaker 1: And so it'll be interesting to see when we see him. Obviously,

7:18 Speaker 2: To I believe that Thursday is the last day for

7:22 Speaker 1: The Bruins last game is Wednesday, but Wednesday, he's done

7:25 Speaker 1: on Thursday, So I'm thinking that trade dead Yeah, the

7:30 Speaker 1: freeze is in that week, which is really like in

7:34 Speaker 1: a week and yeah, yeah, and so when everybody comes back,

7:43 Speaker 1: it's going to be a pretty exciting trade deadline season

7:47 Speaker 1: because that's all the business is going to happen. Happen

7:49 Speaker 1: in this short period of time.

7:51 Speaker 2: But it will be quick. Yeah.

7:52 Speaker 1: Yes. Alex Steves also received an extension, a two year

7:57 Speaker 1: deal one point six two five. I've thoughts on that

8:05 Speaker 2: I think it's it's a great deal. I think it's

8:07 Speaker 2: a great deal for the player. I think it's a

8:09 Speaker 2: great deal for the organization. He is a he is

8:15 Speaker 2: a good player, and I think it's it gives Johnny

8:19 Speaker 2: Sweeney too, again some flexibility when it comes to any

8:24 Speaker 2: potential deals that the Bruins want to be involved in

8:28 Speaker 2: where you have a serviceable player like Alex Steves. That's

8:33 Speaker 2: it's been extended for two years at a really good

8:36 Speaker 2: number that someone might be interested in throwing in as

8:41 Speaker 2: part of a package.

8:43 Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I agree, I mean again, as much as

8:46 Speaker 1: I hate to kind of talk about it in the

8:47 Speaker 1: same breadth.

8:48 Speaker 2: I know, but it is a business. We have to

8:50 Speaker 2: look at both sides of it right, exactly exactly. Listen, listen,

8:54 Speaker 2: this team is not finished rebuilding itself urn. So we're

9:21 Speaker 1: Boston Bruins, who have been known to be stingy and cheap.

9:29 Speaker 1: a guy that came from the Toronto organization who didn't

9:35 Speaker 1: get a ton of opportunities there. And if this is

9:39 Speaker 1: another deal that makes Steve dangles head explode, then I'm

9:43 Speaker 1: just here for the entertainment value. And we we we've

9:46 Speaker 1: got more entertainment to add to that, the gift that

9:51 Speaker 1: keeps on giving, which are the Toronto maple leafs.

9:54 Speaker 2: But we'll get to that in our around the rink

9:57 Speaker 2: and then to kind of piggybank.

10:21 Speaker 1: of what kind of happens in the NC Double A sphere,

10:26 Speaker 1: this is like the Heisman Trophy, so to speak, for

10:30 Speaker 1: college hockey. This is the best player. Think Johnny Goodreau

10:36 Speaker 1: has been a winner. I think, I don't want to

10:39 Speaker 1: say maybe Cam mccarr, but basically a lot of these

10:45 Speaker 1: elite players that have played college hockey have won this award.

10:51 Speaker 1: So the fact that the Bruins have three and it's

10:53 Speaker 1: not like there are one hundred nominees, there's finalists, means

10:58 Speaker 1: like these are the guys. So that's pre awesome.

11:00 Speaker 2: And Haigins and Maternal have been on puego since World Juniors.

11:06 Speaker 2: What they've they've taken whatever momentum they had and have

11:11 Speaker 2: carried it forward to their to their teams and they're continued,

11:15 Speaker 2: you know, dynamic play and I'll I'll be really surprised

11:21 Speaker 2: if we don't see James Hagens in a Brandt some

11:25 Speaker 2: point this season.

11:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, exactly, And just a couple of housekeeping notes

11:32 Speaker 1: as we head into the break again, we will still

11:35 Speaker 1: have episodes. We'll be having a little bit of fun.

12:23 Speaker 1: got Connor McDavid being Connor McDavid.

12:28 Speaker 2: Connor mcjesus, there's a reason why he's called honor Nick Jesus.

12:34 Speaker 2: This kid is just like, he's phenomenal there is just

12:41 Speaker 2: no other word to describe the play of Connor McDavid

12:47 Speaker 2: other than phenomenal. Yep.

12:50 Speaker 1: So, if you haven't seen or read, Connor McDavid is

12:53 Speaker 1: the first player this season to hit ninety points, which

12:56 Speaker 1: is actually insane because this happen been I think last week.

13:02 Speaker 1: So it's January and he has ninety points. That's insane.

13:06 Speaker 1: What we're talking maybe like forty eight games played right, right,

13:14 Speaker 1: So he's like the heart trophy, it must be mine.

13:21 Speaker 1: I know, I know. And not only that, but this

13:25 Speaker 1: was a fun fact that I had learned. This is

13:27 Speaker 1: also his tenth consecutive ninety points season, and with this

13:36 Speaker 1: ninety point season, he broke his tie with legend Mike

13:40 Speaker 1: Bossei to claim sole possession of the second longest consecutive

13:44 Speaker 1: streak point streak in NHL history. Absolutely insane, Absolutely insane.

13:51 Speaker 1: A little bit of Olympics news. So far, we've only

13:55 Speaker 1: seen one player really go down the roster announcement, and

14:01 Speaker 1: that's been Seth Jones for Team Canada. He's been replaced

14:07 Speaker 1: by Jackson the Comb And I'm gonna tell you, I'm

14:09 Speaker 1: gonna admit this, I did not know who the heck

14:11 Speaker 1: this guy was.

14:12 Speaker 2: I was just gonna ask you, who is Jackson wound go?

14:18 Speaker 1: You know, look in my defense, Okay, he plays for Anaheim.

14:24 Speaker 1: So that's a double whammy because first of all, it's

14:27 Speaker 1: a West Coast team. It's harder when you are an

14:30 Speaker 1: East Coast person fan of an East Coast team to

14:34 Speaker 1: really stay on top of what's happening out west, right,

14:37 Speaker 1: it's just it's too late whatever. But it's also Anaheim,

14:41 Speaker 1: and they're a team that has been kind of brushed

14:44 Speaker 1: off a lot over the years. And this team, much

14:48 Speaker 1: like the San Jose Sharks, full of a lot of

14:50 Speaker 1: really young kids, and they are a team worth paying

14:54 Speaker 1: attention to. Just because they've been bad over the years

14:57 Speaker 1: doesn't mean that they've never had quigh end legitimate talent.

15:02 Speaker 1: It's just harder to see it in that kind of situation.

15:07 Speaker 1: But regardless, uh, Lacombe, he's an interesting one. And I

15:13 Speaker 1: think or not Team Canada. My apologies, Team USA. I

15:16 Speaker 1: don't know why I said Canada. He's a lefty, which

15:22 Speaker 1: was an interesting choice because Seth Jones is right, but

15:26 Speaker 1: this guy, I'm actually a little bit surprised that maybe

15:29 Speaker 1: he didn't get picked over Seth Jones to begin with,

15:35 Speaker 1: in fifty two games, he's got six goals twenty seven assists,

15:39 Speaker 1: so he's got thirty three points. Yes, your favorite stat

15:44 Speaker 1: plus minus, he is a minus two. However, please remember

15:48 Speaker 1: he plays for nothing. Yeah yeah, yeah, he plays four.

15:51 Speaker 1: But his point share is a four point four, And

15:54 Speaker 1: if you're not familiar with points share, it's really an

15:57 Speaker 1: evaluation of how much has he can contributing when he's

16:01 Speaker 1: on the ice, you know, when goals are happening and

16:04 Speaker 1: things like that. And to have a four point four

16:07 Speaker 1: as a defenseman is actually really good. It means that

16:11 Speaker 1: he has a strong impact both in both directions, both

16:17 Speaker 1: offensively and defensively. So I think he's going to be

16:20 Speaker 1: a surprisingly strong player for Team USA. So very interesting

16:27 Speaker 1: to see, but exciting for him nonetheless. And then, of

16:33 Speaker 1: course former Boston Bruins legend Charlie Coyle one of my

16:38 Speaker 1: favorite players CC. He had a pretty huge milestone this

16:43 Speaker 1: past week. He played his thousandth game and I believe

16:50 Speaker 1: he scored. I should have checked this beforehand, his two

16:54 Speaker 1: hundredth goal. He did get a goal, and I think

16:57 Speaker 1: it was a significant goal. You are you are going

16:59 Speaker 1: to say two hundredth goals, so awesome. We love this

17:03 Speaker 1: for Charlie still great guy. He's a great guy and

17:06 Speaker 1: glad he's doing well in his new home in Columbia.

17:12 Speaker 1: And then Roman Yosi also a thousand games. But Yosi

17:15 Speaker 1: has been in the same.

17:17 Speaker 2: Same Nashville Predator uniform and that was so adorable to

17:24 Speaker 2: see both of his two young kids wearing his little

17:28 Speaker 2: jersey number the named Daddy on the back and they

17:33 Speaker 2: read the the starting lineup that day.

17:37 Speaker 1: So yeah, yep, I love it. I love when they

17:40 Speaker 1: do that. So good for him, good for both of them.

17:43 Speaker 1: We love to see that because this is a tough

17:46 Speaker 1: league and it's hard to get to a thousand a

17:48 Speaker 1: thousand games, it really is. And then you want to

17:52 Speaker 1: share a fun story about thee because this organization is

17:59 Speaker 1: just like, besides, whatever the heck Greg Burubi is doing

18:07 Speaker 1: I don't even know what happens there.

18:09 Speaker 2: But they are such a shit show this season. So

18:13 Speaker 2: the big controversy, there are two apparently big controversies right now.

18:18 Speaker 2: The Maple Leafs have lost four games in a row,

18:22 Speaker 2: and it just these losses between and not just the

18:26 Speaker 2: Maple Leafs but losses at the Bruins have stufford I

18:30 Speaker 2: am convinced that the Stanley Cup is going to be

18:33 Speaker 2: won by a Western Conference team. Okay, there's no doubt

18:36 Speaker 2: about it.

18:38 Speaker 1: Someone in the West is taking the Stanley Cup this

18:41 Speaker 1: season unless something bizarre happens. Right.

18:44 Speaker 2: So we have the apparently Austin Matthews refusing to speak

18:52 Speaker 2: to the media on the day before a big game,

18:55 Speaker 2: which I think I'm guessing it was the game against

18:58 Speaker 2: the Detroit Red Wings. Then William Neelander is dealing with

19:04 Speaker 2: an injury right now and apparently flipped off the camera

19:10 Speaker 2: ye in the press box during the game. Now, that

19:16 Speaker 2: prompted a lot of.

19:20 Speaker 1: Shit, and he has since come out and apologized said

19:25 Speaker 1: it was a moment of frustration.

19:26 Speaker 2: Look, I understand all of that. Okay, it's tough.

19:30 Speaker 1: It's it is. It is a tough market. I mean that,

19:34 Speaker 1: that's not.

19:36 Speaker 2: Okay. I'm going to ask you this, can you can

19:39 Speaker 2: you can you envision a day.

19:43 Speaker 1: Where David Pasternak is sitting up on the ninth floor

19:47 Speaker 1: and I know you're aggravated and frustrated your team is losing.

19:51 Speaker 2: You can't be out there on the ice. Can you

20:31 Speaker 2: take any disciplinary action too. Really, we should remind everyone.

22:11 Speaker 1: a hat and all I saw was the black eye.

22:13 Speaker 1: But my god, then I saw him on the bench

22:15 Speaker 1: and he's got like this horseshoe mark on his head,

22:19 Speaker 1: and I'm like, this guy, what on earth was he doing?

22:22 Speaker 1: Because that looks horrible, Like did he almost die? I know,

22:27 Speaker 1: did the piece of equipment fall on him or what?

22:29 Speaker 1: Oh god. But regardless, we have a couple of games

22:34 Speaker 1: to talk about that the Bruins played two very good games,

22:41 Speaker 1: highly entertaining games, and one game that well it was

22:47 Speaker 1: better left there's nothing, there's not much to talk about.

22:51 Speaker 1: And actually we have three good because we saw them

22:53 Speaker 1: playing in Chicago. They went out and highly entertaining game.

22:59 Speaker 1: They were down sequently, but they came back and they

23:03 Speaker 1: had five unanswered goals, which you love to see. Corpie

23:07 Speaker 1: was in net and he he was solid. He he

23:10 Speaker 1: looked fantastic. So no complaints there. Uh then, I'm only

23:16 Speaker 1: assuming at this point that the players and their siblings

23:19 Speaker 1: probably had a little bit too much fun in between

23:24 Speaker 1: their trip to Chicago and their trip to Dallas, because

23:27 Speaker 1: my god, what a lot of Dallas they do that.

23:32 Speaker 2: That is a very good Dallas Stars team. It is

23:36 Speaker 2: is a very good Dallas Star team. However, how he did.

23:40 Speaker 1: Not show up to play?

23:42 Speaker 2: Nope, not And then and then start then they start

23:45 Speaker 2: their parade to the penalty box, which we've seen this

23:49 Speaker 2: movie countless times this season. When they start that back

23:55 Speaker 2: in and out of the box, in and out of

23:57 Speaker 2: the box, it's a recipe for disaster. It's it's you

25:36 Speaker 2: he's trying to prevent Hucks from going in and you

25:41 Speaker 2: see the guys in front of you doing nothing, and

25:44 Speaker 2: when I tell you nothing, they left Swaymen high and dry.

25:52 Speaker 2: But the majority of that game, yeah, one hundred.

25:56 Speaker 1: I mean, when you are spending that much time on

26:02 Speaker 1: the penalty kill, that means, by the nature of what

26:08 Speaker 1: you're down a player, your defensive players, and of course

26:13 Speaker 1: the ultimate defensive player being your goaltender. They're gonna be

26:17 Speaker 1: worked that much harder. Their job is that much harder.

26:22 Speaker 1: You don't have the same offensive opportunities because your players

26:29 Speaker 1: like Morgan Geeky and David Pasternak are sitting on the

26:32 Speaker 1: bench for excessive right, maybe you can't score goals, the

26:36 Speaker 1: goalie can't score goals. Ever, really loans be realistic, and

26:41 Speaker 1: you your top guys can't can't score goals. So it

26:48 Speaker 1: was another one of those games that you just really.

26:53 Speaker 2: Hate to see.

26:54 Speaker 1: And I mean in that first period, you had tripping

27:00 Speaker 1: by David Pasternak, you had fighting, you had interference, you

27:05 Speaker 1: had cross checking. I mean that just set the tone

27:15 Speaker 2: No, No, you know you know when it's over. I

27:18 Speaker 2: mean when when they start playing in that manner, when

27:20 Speaker 2: they are not interested in playing this structure, when they're

27:26 Speaker 2: not interested in moving their feet or back checking, it's

27:31 Speaker 2: just you just move on.

27:33 Speaker 1: You just save yourself.

27:34 Speaker 2: You know what if these guys don't care, why am

27:36 Speaker 2: I going to stay engaged in this game?

27:38 Speaker 1: Right exactly? Which you know we've also talked about this season.

27:49 Speaker 1: has a game like they had in Dallas, typically they

27:54 Speaker 1: then come back next game a little bit more refocused.

27:58 Speaker 1: And we did see that again. Now this hasn't happen

28:00 Speaker 1: every time, but it did happen. And so they were

28:04 Speaker 1: at home against Vegas and this was this was an

28:09 Speaker 1: interesting game in the sense that there were a lot

28:13 Speaker 1: of penalties in the first period. You know, you have

28:17 Speaker 1: Pablo Zaka with a high stick, Castelick got into it,

28:21 Speaker 1: so he fighting, but you know, again it's matching, so whatever.

28:25 Speaker 2: But you've got Morgan Geeky with roughing.

28:27 Speaker 1: So if you want to look at it from a

28:30 Speaker 1: this perspective, the Bruins had two penalties in the first

28:33 Speaker 1: period really that were stupid. They had one in the second,

28:39 Speaker 1: and then they had two in the third. And I

28:43 Speaker 1: don't know if Boston was just the beneficiary of Vegas

28:51 Speaker 1: kind of just not being I don't know, awake alive

28:56 Speaker 1: because and it's funny because Vegas was the day before

29:01 Speaker 1: I know, I know, and they took a good two

29:06 Speaker 1: periods to show up to that game, and once they did,

29:11 Speaker 1: quite frankly, it was terrifying because Boston it seemed like

29:16 Speaker 1: their energy and ability to be awake and alive really

29:22 Speaker 1: went downhill. And I don't know if again, maybe it's

29:25 Speaker 1: all about maybe their energy level actually stayed the same,

29:30 Speaker 1: and the fact that the Vegas Golden Knights woke up

29:34 Speaker 1: made it look like they had stopped playing. I don't know,

29:37 Speaker 1: It's sometimes hard to tell. But regardless, the fact that

29:39 Speaker 1: the Bruins were able to squeak out a win considering

29:42 Speaker 1: the number of penalties that they had, I mean they

29:44 Speaker 1: had when two, you know, three four, so more than

29:49 Speaker 1: we like. And I guess I'm not surprised then by

29:52 Speaker 1: the outcome of this game. They won, Yes, but by

29:55 Speaker 1: literally the skin of their teeth. They were hanging on

29:58 Speaker 1: by the skin of their yes, Sir, Tie and Yonna's

30:03 Speaker 1: corpor Salo was excellent in this Vegas game. He was

30:08 Speaker 1: He was excellent.

30:10 Speaker 1: I really like seeing him with this frequency because again,

30:15 Speaker 1: I do think that both goalies benefit from this increased

30:21 Speaker 1: frequency of swapping out. I really do. I think that, yeah,

30:27 Speaker 1: they just both benefit from it, you know. And to

30:31 Speaker 1: kind of quote you, the very next game against the Habs,

30:36 Speaker 1: love love, love love to see the rivalry alive and well,

30:42 Speaker 1: highly entertaining game. I watched it yesterday.

30:50 Speaker 2: thrilled with the Bruins first period in that game. No, Now,

30:54 Speaker 2: I didn't think they were ready to play. They didn't

30:58 Speaker 2: look they didn't look as as engaged as I had

31:02 Speaker 2: hoped that they would be. It seemed almost Saturday night

31:08 Speaker 2: against the Bruins and the Habs that the halves were

31:11 Speaker 2: taken it to them in that first period.

31:14 Speaker 1: Well, and it seemed almost like the Bruins were still

31:19 Speaker 1: operating a little bit leftover from their previous game, like

31:25 Speaker 1: if there had been four periods in a game. That's

31:29 Speaker 1: what that fourth period looked like. It was like a

31:31 Speaker 1: little bit of leftover from whatever funk was kind of

31:35 Speaker 1: permeating the team at the end of the Vegas game.

31:39 Speaker 1: And they only had in that first period one penalty,

31:42 Speaker 1: and again it was matching five for fighting, So it's

31:46 Speaker 1: a little bit surprising. I mean, I think they got

31:49 Speaker 1: lucky in that case, because you know, again you saw

31:54 Speaker 1: three penalties in this game, but kolkop Fields nearly won

32:01 Speaker 1: that game single handed. And I didn't realize he had

32:06 Speaker 1: a hat trick. Yes, yes, and almost well, all of

32:12 Speaker 1: the goals in the second period were power play goals,

32:16 Speaker 1: which was also kind of surprising. Uh and Bruins had

32:23 Speaker 1: all but one as.

32:24 Speaker 2: A power play goal, which was great to see. The

32:26 Speaker 2: pen I would argue that first goal by Cole cough Fields.

32:31 Speaker 1: Now, I know he got by a bunch of Bruins players,

32:36 Speaker 1: but to me, the shot itself, I think that's when

32:40 Speaker 1: Swayman should have had And how I know he knows

32:43 Speaker 1: he should have had it because when he does the

32:47 Speaker 1: you know, skate out of the crease to reset himself.

32:50 Speaker 2: He knows that he should have had that.

32:53 Speaker 1: Yes, yep, I agree. But we saw a pretty busy

32:59 Speaker 1: evening from Charlie McAvoy. He got himself three points. We

33:54 Speaker 2: that game was when we all saw Nikita Zadorov down

34:04 Speaker 2: leg injury where he was like hopping down the tunnel,

34:16 Speaker 2: been logging and the way he's been playing, you know,

34:19 Speaker 2: I thought for sure we're not seeing him back in

35:38 Speaker 1: has seven and the Sabers have five. That was huge

35:44 Speaker 1: because of the fact that you've got those two teams

35:50 Speaker 1: ahead of Boston in the standings by the sheer fact

35:55 Speaker 1: that they were able to just make it to overtime

35:59 Speaker 1: and not actually win. Like that's why it's even more

36:07 Speaker 1: right now, because I mean, it's just it's it's stupid.
