Bruins Rise from the Ashes (At Least for a Night) | Snap Shots Episode 55

0:00 Speaker 1: Just two games after their worst game of the season, the Boston Bruins said hold my beer and showed all of us just how things could be even worse in Ottawa. But there was no time to think as the Bees were back in the garden on Tuesday night against the Islanders. Hampus Linholm was back on the ice and Mason Laurai was a healthy scratch. With last night's win and improvement on the blue line, it begs the question, what is going to happen to Mason Laurai moving forward? This is a Bruins tape the tape snapshot.

0:36 Speaker 2: Well, all right, all right, all right, the Boston Bruins actually do know how to play a hockey game. After the dismal performance against the Ottawa Senators on Monday evening, where they gave up seven goals to the Senators, the Bruins played the New York Islanders on Tuesday evening at the TD Garden, and even though the first period started off as poorly as you could have predicted that it would start off, with the Bruins down two to nothing, and the Islanders scored on their very first shot of the game.

1:12 Speaker 2: Even though the Bruins started that game on time and with relatively good jump and offensive firepower. Unfortunately, that was not to be. In the first period, they couldn't maintain any type of pace of play. They weren't able to generate any offense, and one thought to oneself in watching that game, here we flip and go again. Are we going to do this again against another team that you should be able to beat. I don't know what was said in between the first and second period and who said it, but whatever occurred between that period, the Bruins came out looking like a totally different team.

1:58 Speaker 2: In the second period, they scored three unanswered goal, one of which came on the power play by Elias Lindholme, and he has only scored power play goals, but we'll take the goals as we get them. David Pasternach and Mikey Isimont added to the Bruins lead, so they went in to the third period with a three to two lead. They added goals in the third period to seal the deal, goal by Morgan Geeky, who has been on fire of late, and Fraser Mitton. So all in all, it was a much needed two points and a much needed boost in confidence for the Boston Bruins.

2:40 Speaker 2: This game also saw the return of Hampus lind Home, and although he had a bit of a rocky start in his first couple of shifts, he seemed to get better and better as the game went along. And I think we can all see now why it is that is it's so important for Hampus to be the stallworth back on defense for this team. In addition, this game had Mason Laurai sitting on the eighth and ninth floor wherever they had him sitting watching the game, and that, for me, is a good move. As far as I'm concerned by the coaching staff, I think he needs to take a breather watch what's happening.

3:20 Speaker 2: I don't know if he is struggling along with many other players and picking up this new defensive structure, but it was time for him to take a break, so to speak. All in all, a good effort by the Boston Bruins. Two points. Now. The million dollar question is can they continue building on this. I don't know the answer to that question, but I'm hoping that they are going to put all of their effort in into making it a more consistent showing for themselves and for our fan Base.

3:58 Speaker 1: Boston is back in action on Thursday, October thirtieth against the Sabers. This is already their second matchup and much has changed since they first played on October eleventh. Both teams have become more similar in their stat lines, with Buffalo finally nabbing four wins to find themselves in sixth place in the division to Boston's eighth. The Bruins are in no position to poo pooh this Sabers team. Tyson Kozak, Joshua Dunn, and Jason Zucker have started to make themselves known on this cellar dwelling team, so the Bruins' leaky defense is going to have to make sure that these three skaters are neutralized at every opportunity.

4:37 Speaker 1: Alex Lyon has been carrying this team, starting eight games while Ukapeka Lucanin made his return for the sword Cows on the twenty fifth, and it was not a great return. At this point, it seems that the starter job is lions to lose. He's holding on to a decent two point seventy seven goals against average and a nine to nineteen save percentage, and he's definitely underpaid on this team. Swayman had a rough outing in Ottawa, a team that has had his number for quite a while, and that seven to two loss did some damage to his stats, pushing him up to a three point one point one goals against average and lowering his save percentage down to an eight ninety two.
