Bruins Rise from the Ashes (At Least for a Night) | Snap Shots Episode 55
Liner notes
🎙️Just two games after their worst loss of the season, the Boston Bruins actually remembered how to play hockey — and delivered a much-needed 5–2 win over the New York Islanders. After a nightmare first period, Boston stormed back with five unanswered goals, powered by Elias Lindholm on the power play, Pastrnak’s spark, and Morgan Geekie’s continued hot streak. Hampus Lindholm’s return stabilized the blue line, while Mason Lohrei watched from the press box — raising questions about his role going forward. Was this the turning point the Bruins needed, or just a brief break in the chaos before facing Buffalo? We’ll find out Thursday when they take on the Sabres and try to build something resembling consistency.✨Join the Patreon for Ad Free Listening✨Get Our Merch ✨

Speaker 1: Just two games after their worst game of the season,
Speaker 1: the Boston Bruins said hold my beer and showed all
Speaker 1: of us just how things could be even worse in Ottawa.
Speaker 1: But there was no time to think as the Bees
Speaker 1: were back in the garden on Tuesday night against the Islanders.
Speaker 1: Hampus Linholm was back on the ice and Mason Laurai
Speaker 1: was a healthy scratch. With last night's win and improvement
Speaker 1: on the blue line, it begs the question, what is
Speaker 1: going to happen to Mason Laurai moving forward? This is
Speaker 1: a Bruins tape the tape snapshot.
Speaker 2: Well, all right, all right, all right, the Boston Bruins
Speaker 2: actually do know how to play a hockey game. After
Speaker 2: the dismal performance against the Ottawa Senators on Monday evening,
Speaker 2: where they gave up seven goals to the Senators, the
Speaker 2: Bruins played the New York Islanders on Tuesday evening at
Speaker 2: the TD Garden, and even though the first period started
Speaker 2: off as poorly as you could have predicted that it
Speaker 2: would start off, with the Bruins down two to nothing,
Speaker 2: and the Islanders scored on their very first shot of
Speaker 2: the game. Even though the Bruins started that game on
Speaker 2: time and with relatively good jump and offensive firepower. Unfortunately,
Speaker 2: that was not to be. In the first period, they
Speaker 2: couldn't maintain any type of pace of play. They weren't
Speaker 2: able to generate any offense, and one thought to oneself
Speaker 2: in watching that game, here we flip and go again.
Speaker 2: Are we going to do this again against another team
Speaker 2: that you should be able to beat. I don't know
Speaker 2: what was said in between the first and second period
Speaker 2: and who said it, but whatever occurred between that period,
Speaker 2: the Bruins came out looking like a totally different team.
Speaker 2: In the second period, they scored three unanswered goal, one
Speaker 2: of which came on the power play by Elias Lindholme,
Speaker 2: and he has only scored power play goals, but we'll
Speaker 2: take the goals as we get them. David Pasternach and
Speaker 2: Mikey Isimont added to the Bruins lead, so they went
Speaker 2: in to the third period with a three to two lead.
Speaker 2: They added goals in the third period to seal the deal,
Speaker 2: goal by Morgan Geeky, who has been on fire of late,
Speaker 2: and Fraser Mitton. So all in all, it was a
Speaker 2: much needed two points and a much needed boost in
Speaker 2: confidence for the Boston Bruins. This game also saw the
Speaker 2: return of Hampus lind Home, and although he had a
Speaker 2: bit of a rocky start in his first couple of shifts,
Speaker 2: he seemed to get better and better as the game
Speaker 2: went along. And I think we can all see now
Speaker 2: why it is that is it's so important for Hampus
Speaker 2: to be the stallworth back on defense for this team.
Speaker 2: In addition, this game had Mason Laurai sitting on the
Speaker 2: eighth and ninth floor wherever they had him sitting watching
Speaker 2: the game, and that, for me, is a good move.
Speaker 2: As far as I'm concerned by the coaching staff, I
Speaker 2: think he needs to take a breather watch what's happening.
Speaker 2: I don't know if he is struggling along with many
Speaker 2: other players and picking up this new defensive structure, but
Speaker 2: it was time for him to take a break, so
Speaker 2: to speak. All in all, a good effort by the
Speaker 2: Boston Bruins. Two points. Now. The million dollar question is
Speaker 2: can they continue building on this. I don't know the
Speaker 2: answer to that question, but I'm hoping that they are
Speaker 2: going to put all of their effort in into making
Speaker 2: it a more consistent showing for themselves and for our
Speaker 2: fan Base.
Speaker 1: Boston is back in action on Thursday, October thirtieth against
Speaker 1: the Sabers. This is already their second matchup and much
Speaker 1: has changed since they first played on October eleventh. Both
Speaker 1: teams have become more similar in their stat lines, with
Speaker 1: Buffalo finally nabbing four wins to find themselves in sixth
Speaker 1: place in the division to Boston's eighth. The Bruins are
Speaker 1: in no position to poo pooh this Sabers team. Tyson Kozak,
Speaker 1: Joshua Dunn, and Jason Zucker have started to make themselves
Speaker 1: known on this cellar dwelling team, so the Bruins' leaky
Speaker 1: defense is going to have to make sure that these
Speaker 1: three skaters are neutralized at every opportunity. Alex Lyon has
Speaker 1: been carrying this team, starting eight games while Ukapeka Lucanin
Speaker 1: made his return for the sword Cows on the twenty fifth,
Speaker 1: and it was not a great return. At this point,
Speaker 1: it seems that the starter job is lions to lose.
Speaker 1: He's holding on to a decent two point seventy seven
Speaker 1: goals against average and a nine to nineteen save percentage,
Speaker 1: and he's definitely underpaid on this team. Swayman had a
Speaker 1: rough outing in Ottawa, a team that has had his
Speaker 1: number for quite a while, and that seven to two
Speaker 1: loss did some damage to his stats, pushing him up
Speaker 1: to a three point one point one goals against average
Speaker 1: and lowering his save percentage down to an eight ninety two.
