How the Mighty Bruins Have Fallen | Snap Shots Episode 42
Liner notes
🎙️The Bruins are spiraling, and it’s getting hard to call this anything but a full-blown collapse. Questions are mounting about management’s direction, the team’s culture, and whether key players even want to stick around. With free agents unsigned, morale in the basement, and the losses piling up, we’re wondering if Boston could challenge the Sabres’ infamous losing streak. Don Sweeney’s shaky draft history adds to the unease, especially with little to look forward to in free agency. As the road trip continues in Anaheim and Detroit, is there any hope left in this season—or are we watching a once-proud team hit rock bottom?📲 Follow us on X, Instagram & Blue Sky ➡️ @TapetoTapeMK

Speaker 1: Yikes, Bruins fam, we are in deep trouble at this point.
Speaker 1: Nobody in their right mind can call this a retool,
Speaker 1: and I seriously question the business decisions being made by
Speaker 1: management and ownership with regards to this team. Could the
Speaker 1: Bruins beat the Sabers record of most street losses this season?
Speaker 1: This is a Bruins tape to tape snapshot.
Speaker 2: I'm going to start the snapshot by sharing the definition
Speaker 2: of a retool and rebuild. A retool is to change
Speaker 2: something in order to improve it or make it more
Speaker 2: suitable for a particular purpose. A rebuild is to make
Speaker 2: big changes to a company, organization, or system that is
Speaker 2: no longer effective. Now, before I go into what's been
Speaker 2: transpiring for the Bruins since the trade deadline, retool is
Speaker 2: the word that was used by Cam Nealey, and I
Speaker 2: just shared with you the definition of rebuild. Given what
Speaker 2: has been occurring in the two games past the trade deadline,
Speaker 2: you tell me if the Bruins are in rebuild mode
Speaker 2: or retool mold, because currently on this recent road trip swing,
Speaker 2: and including the two games against Ottawa and Tampa, they
Speaker 2: have been outshot by their opponents to a tune of
Speaker 2: one seventy eight to one twelve. They have been outscored
Speaker 2: by their opponents to the tune of thirty goals to
Speaker 2: eleven goals. Their shot differential is a minus nineteen minus nineteen,
Speaker 2: which is the worst in the Eastern Conference currently. This
Speaker 2: recent West Coast swing has been nothing short of, I
Speaker 2: guess disastrous for lack of a better word. Maybe I'm
Speaker 2: being a bit dramatic, but to me, we are not
Speaker 2: in a retool mode, folks. We are in a rebuild mode.
Speaker 2: And where this team goes for the rest of the season,
Speaker 2: I'm sure that we all know that this team will
Speaker 2: be going nowhere for the rest of this season. But
Speaker 2: for Cam nearly to insult those of us with a
Speaker 2: semblance of intelligence that can check facts and figures for
Speaker 2: ourselves to say that you are doing a retool as
Speaker 2: opposed to a rebuild, Sir, you are delusional if you
Speaker 2: believe that your fan base is buying into the fact
Speaker 2: that you are doing a retool as opposed to a rebill.
Speaker 1: Have you ever had a job at a company that
Speaker 1: was struggling financially and they opt for some seriously deep
Speaker 1: layoffs and then the atmosphere for the remaining employees so
Speaker 1: depressing and abysmal that more people jump ship because it's
Speaker 1: not the same place anymore. That's the vibe we are
Speaker 1: getting from this current Boston Bruins team. The fact that
Speaker 1: the remaining players who are about to be free agents
Speaker 1: haven't signed makes us wonder if the Bruins have any
Speaker 1: intention of doing so, and even if they were, do
Speaker 1: they want to stick around after experiencing some of the
Speaker 1: worst hockey of their careers. Don Sweeney has a terrible
Speaker 1: draft record, and just thinking about him choosing all of
Speaker 1: those quote unquote valuable picks is terrifying. And with a
Speaker 1: free agency class that is met at best, who is
Speaker 1: going to want to come to Boston? The cure is
Speaker 1: certainly no longer what it once was. Take a listen
Speaker 1: to this comment from Nikita Zadora after the Bruins lost
Speaker 1: to the Kings, when asked about Swayman's defense of his teammate,
Speaker 1: You guys appreciate that Jeremy.
Speaker 2: Is all what it is.
Speaker 1: For common yikes. So where do we go from here?
Speaker 1: Is there anything worth looking forward to as we suffer
Speaker 1: through the final ten games of the season. That's to
Speaker 1: be determined. Boston has two more games to go on
Speaker 1: this interminable road trip with Anaheim on Wednesday and Detroit
Speaker 1: on Saturday. Keep your chins up, Bruins fam. We've been
Speaker 1: here before, and we'll be here again. The important thing
Speaker 1: is to know that this organization has become too profitable
Speaker 1: for the ownership to let it wallow at the bottom
Speaker 1: of the NHL pool for too long. Make sure you
