2:35 Speaker 1: They're slated to play the Ducks before they head more

2:39 Speaker 1: back east and stop in Detroit before coming back home

2:42 Speaker 1: on Tuesday next week, on April Foolsday, which feels like

2:47 Speaker 1: a cruel, cruel joke. But needless to say, this has

2:53 Speaker 1: not been a particularly spectacular road trip. The team's falling apart. U.

3:09 Speaker 2: This has been one big bucket of suck from day one.

3:16 Speaker 2: From day one, it started in training camp. It has

3:20 Speaker 2: not gotten any better. We have been teased with you know,

3:26 Speaker 2: a two or a three game run, and then we

3:31 Speaker 2: have had the cold bucket of water splashed on our

3:35 Speaker 2: faces and reality has hit that this team was just

3:42 Speaker 2: never going to be a good team and it is

3:45 Speaker 2: not a good team. And then when I read today

3:49 Speaker 2: and here today that Brad Marshand is likely to make

3:55 Speaker 2: his debut in a Florida Panthers jersey on Friday, almost

4:02 Speaker 2: three weeks exactly, almost three weeks exactly from the injury

4:07 Speaker 2: that he suffered, that was going to be you know,

4:09 Speaker 2: three to six weeks. And again, I hate to sound

4:13 Speaker 2: like a broken record, but I'm going to keep saying

4:16 Speaker 2: it until someone proves me wrong. Something stinks about that trade.

4:22 Speaker 2: It was never right from when it was announced, and

4:27 Speaker 2: I will never be right with it because it makes

4:31 Speaker 2: still no sense to me.

4:53 Speaker 5: It's been tough to watch because we're not finding bright spots.

5:07 Speaker 5: fun things, and lately the entire team is just a mess,

5:14 Speaker 5: each one, each person, each line, each combination, each game,

5:21 Speaker 5: and it's just getting harder and harder to watch. You're

5:25 Speaker 5: you're not getting excited about any piece of it. The

5:29 Speaker 5: Sharks game, to me, was really the epitome of where

5:32 Speaker 5: we are. I was away, so I was watching it

5:35 Speaker 5: on ESPN plus. Somehow it switched over to the Sharks

5:41 Speaker 5: broadcast instead of the Bruins, and it was just full

5:43 Speaker 5: of love and light and joy and happiness. And you

5:47 Speaker 5: can see how much one of those kids were having

5:49 Speaker 5: on the ice now they've been knocked out a playoff contention.

5:53 Speaker 5: There a ball playing together. And I went back to

5:57 Speaker 5: the Bruins. The Bruins brought cast and there's just like

6:01 Speaker 5: this cloud, even over the announcing, even the broadcast. You know,

6:08 Speaker 5: we're feeling it and it's it's a new place for

6:12 Speaker 5: a lot of Bruins fans. Yes, well we haven't been,

6:18 Speaker 5: frankly since you know, the twenty eleven Stanley Cup Finals.

6:24 Speaker 5: Because there has been a long standing history of competitiveness

6:31 Speaker 5: and good teams. You know where were you know where

6:35 Speaker 5: we were we short or shy of closing the deal

6:39 Speaker 5: during that period of time. Yes, but you still can't

6:44 Speaker 5: take away from the fact that they were always a

6:48 Speaker 5: contending team.

6:49 Speaker 6: They were always at the top of the league.

6:53 Speaker 2: You expected them to make the playoffs at a high

6:58 Speaker 2: seed or you know, a decent seed, Whereas now you're

7:02 Speaker 2: being talked about in the same sentences with the San

7:06 Speaker 2: Jose Sharks.

7:08 Speaker 6: That's yeah, that's you know, I mean, I don't.

7:12 Speaker 2: Want to say rock bottom, but that's not a place

7:16 Speaker 2: that any Boston Bruins franchise should find themselves in.

7:21 Speaker 1: Yeah, And I have to say I hate to be

7:25 Speaker 1: right in these kinds of instances, but if you've been

7:28 Speaker 1: listening to the podcast for even just the last two

7:33 Speaker 1: months when the rumors really got started about Brad Marshan

7:37 Speaker 1: possibly being traded, and you know, I don't think that

7:41 Speaker 1: his trade is the only reason why things have happened

7:46 Speaker 1: the way that they've happened. Right, Like, when you do

7:49 Speaker 1: get rid of I think if you get rid of

7:51 Speaker 1: a lot of these veterans, even if they didn't trade

7:53 Speaker 1: marshand him not being there because he was injured, but

7:57 Speaker 1: then just really cutting off. You know, one leg by

8:01 Speaker 1: shipping out two pretty significant voices in the room would

8:06 Speaker 1: have done damage. But the fact that then Marshan was

8:11 Speaker 1: sent away on top of this, you've effectively cut both

8:14 Speaker 1: legs off of this team. And you know, I got

8:19 Speaker 1: some questionable responses when I put out there, like, what's

8:25 Speaker 1: gonna happen is you're going to have a subpar product

8:29 Speaker 1: out on the ice, Your locker room is going to tank.

8:33 Speaker 1: Your fans are gonna be despondent. Oh well, if you

8:36 Speaker 1: think that the product is any good now, No, but

8:40 Speaker 1: they were mediocre before. Now they're garbage. So, once again,

8:44 Speaker 1: I hate to say it, in this case, I was right.

8:47 Speaker 1: They got worse. It is painful to watch. Quite frankly,

8:52 Speaker 1: if I didn't have to watch because of our podcast

8:57 Speaker 1: and the conversation that I so thoroughly enjoy with, you know,

9:01 Speaker 1: the two of you and the folks in the discord,

9:04 Speaker 1: I wouldn't be watching this product. Why would I want

9:07 Speaker 1: to watch this? It is? It's not just bad. It's

9:10 Speaker 1: depressing because you can tell the psychology of what's happening

9:17 Speaker 1: out there. It's bad.

9:20 Speaker 6: They don't want the nadir of mine. Tell me today

9:23 Speaker 6: that her brother and sister in law went to a

9:29 Speaker 6: game with their children just recently. Two kids, two parents,

9:34 Speaker 6: one thousand dollars. They spent in total one thousand dollars

9:40 Speaker 6: to watch what we have been enduring. Now again they

9:45 Speaker 6: make the choices to purchase the tickets, and I understand

9:50 Speaker 6: all of that. I understand all of that, but it's

9:54 Speaker 6: not a fair.

9:54 Speaker 2: You have not been subjected to any type of consistent

10:00 Speaker 2: quality hockey throughout the course of this season.

10:07 Speaker 2: I think it's going to take the franchise a really

10:10 Speaker 2: long time to recover from trading Brad Marshand.

10:14 Speaker 1: I really do agreed, very damaging. So let's talk about

10:21 Speaker 1: the one thing I think that everyone kind of was

10:25 Speaker 1: all a twitter about that did come out of this

10:29 Speaker 1: road trip thus far. We've seen Jeremy Swayman looking to

10:38 Speaker 1: get involved in extracurriculars for some time now. This is

10:42 Speaker 1: not new, This is definitely part of his personality.

10:45 Speaker 6: No one, let's let's get this on the record.

10:48 Speaker 2: He himself has said yes previously, that he wants to

10:53 Speaker 2: score a goal and he wants to get.

10:55 Speaker 1: Into a fight, right, you know, and certainly not surprising

11:02 Speaker 1: to hear in previous years from a young man who was,

11:07 Speaker 1: you know, twenty five or younger. But when you take

11:12 Speaker 1: on the position of full time starting goaltender and you

11:18 Speaker 1: become a little bit older, the expectations that you know,

11:23 Speaker 1: the mantle of responsibility that is now placed on you.

11:26 Speaker 6: You are now.

11:29 Speaker 1: In the position, in the role that many many Hall

11:35 Speaker 1: of famers have been in, right, and so there is

11:37 Speaker 1: this expectation because there's only one goalie on the ice

11:41 Speaker 1: at a time for these games, like all eyes are

11:43 Speaker 1: on you. There is a very specific expectation of what

11:46 Speaker 1: your job is and what your job is not. Now

11:50 Speaker 1: what we're we won't kind of debate the role of

11:57 Speaker 1: the extracurriculars, the fisticuffs, if you will, in general in

12:01 Speaker 1: the NHL, because that's its own hot topic. But when

12:06 Speaker 1: it comes to a goaltender and having them get involved

12:12 Speaker 1: in a fight, what is your take on that, What

12:19 Speaker 1: is your interpretation of what the rules are around that?

12:27 Speaker 5: Whereabeth I think that a goalie has a specific role

12:34 Speaker 5: and it lives in the crease a little bit outside

12:38 Speaker 5: of it sometimes but that makes us uncomfortable, but that's

12:42 Speaker 5: their space. I think of it like alignsman or even

12:46 Speaker 5: an umpire and baseball. They look at each Each person

12:50 Speaker 5: has one thing that they watch. They're not watching the

12:53 Speaker 5: whole field of play. They're not watching the entire rink.

12:56 Speaker 5: They're watching this place right here to see what happened bins.

13:00 Speaker 5: The goalie's job is to stay in the crease and

13:03 Speaker 5: watch for pucks flying at them. That's their job.

13:06 Speaker 1: Their job is not to see what are they doing

13:08 Speaker 1: over there?

13:09 Speaker 6: And do I need to be participating in that now?

13:14 Speaker 5: I would say if there's a fight taking place somewhere

13:17 Speaker 5: right around your crease and you're there, and okay, maybe

13:21 Speaker 5: that's when you are participating in those sorts of extracurricular activities,

13:27 Speaker 5: but you're not looking to go all the way across

13:30 Speaker 5: the ice now. Should somebody have stepped in, probably, But

13:37 Speaker 5: if they didn't, it's not your job as the goalie

13:39 Speaker 5: to do it, And you shouldn't actually be watching that

13:41 Speaker 5: far over to see what's going on.

13:43 Speaker 1: So that's where I stand on it. And I'm a

13:45 Speaker 1: Swayman fan.

13:46 Speaker 5: Or I was. I don't know now, but I generally

13:51 Speaker 5: I'm generally a Swayman fan. But I do think you

13:55 Speaker 5: know what kind of this is one of those stay

13:57 Speaker 5: in your lanes.

13:59 Speaker 2: This this to me, I have no problem with a

14:04 Speaker 2: goalie protecting his or her own end of their house.

14:08 Speaker 2: You you have a forward or anybody coming in to

14:12 Speaker 2: your crease who's jabbing a stick at you, or you

14:17 Speaker 2: know who was a Sean Avery doing.

14:21 Speaker 1: Right? You want to you wanna you want to pop

14:23 Speaker 1: that guy. I have no issue at all with that.

14:29 Speaker 2: Okay, But in this circumstance and the way this season

14:35 Speaker 2: has gone, let me just say I too feel that

14:41 Speaker 2: Swayman is a relatively important part of the future of

14:46 Speaker 2: this franchise. And I had said early on that when

14:50 Speaker 2: we were discussing trades he would been one of the untouchables.

14:55 Speaker 6: Where my patience with him is starting to reach its

15:01 Speaker 6: last line of defense is I'm sick of hearing him talk,

15:07 Speaker 6: and I'm sick of seeing him on the end of

15:13 Speaker 6: these blow up games every single time. Five goals, six goals,

15:20 Speaker 6: seven goals, eight goals against Carolina, Right, they weren't all his,

15:25 Speaker 6: but you contributed to that. And in this particular circumstance

15:31 Speaker 6: with Darcy Kemper and Who'stadenova?

15:37 Speaker 1: Okay, Kemper was getting a penalty for what he did.

15:42 Speaker 2: It was a one goal game at that point in time,

15:48 Speaker 2: and so you, Jeremy Swayman, are going to do what?

15:51 Speaker 2: Skate out to center ice, fight the other goalie who's

15:55 Speaker 2: already going in the box, and then one of your

15:58 Speaker 2: teammates would likely have to go in the box to

16:01 Speaker 2: serve a five minute major penalty for you for fighting

16:07 Speaker 2: and wrong time, wrong place.

16:10 Speaker 1: Then you just imploded.

16:12 Speaker 2: Then you just imploded after that, And you know what,

16:17 Speaker 2: I know, Nikita Zadora walked back his comments that he

16:23 Speaker 2: made after the game, and maybe somebody got to him

16:27 Speaker 2: or somebody told him he needed to walk I don't know,

16:31 Speaker 2: but my take on what Nikita Zadora said was, you

16:37 Speaker 2: can't even do your job right now, swaming.

16:42 Speaker 1: Don't tell me how to do mine.

16:44 Speaker 6: You're going to try to do my job for me.

16:48 Speaker 1: Yep.

16:48 Speaker 6: And I'm not the only one who felt this way.

16:52 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, morning brew and Andrew Raycroft, who is the

16:57 Speaker 2: very definition of optimism and you know, trying to put

17:03 Speaker 2: a positive spin on everything.

17:06 Speaker 1: Even he.

17:08 Speaker 6: Was questioning, what are you doing, Swayman? What i you

17:13 Speaker 6: actually doing?

17:15 Speaker 1: So I agree with you.

17:17 Speaker 2: Your role, Jeremy is to maintain your end of the house. Now,

17:25 Speaker 2: if you're talking about you know, a bench clearing brawl,

17:29 Speaker 2: or you know, everybody's pulling at everybody else and the

17:32 Speaker 2: other goalie is getting in on one of his guys

17:38 Speaker 2: and he's sitting back there watching it all happen at

17:40 Speaker 2: the other end of the ice. Yeah, I would probably

17:43 Speaker 2: skate out there too, But in this specific instance, you

17:47 Speaker 2: guys got bigger problems to worry about, then you wanting

17:51 Speaker 2: to get into a fight and then say it was

17:54 Speaker 2: because you were protecting your guy. Now, I think Ustadenoff

17:58 Speaker 2: could take care of himself and figured that out, or

18:02 Speaker 2: one of your guys right would have figured that out exactly.

18:07 Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, to your point of is it

18:11 Speaker 1: or when is it appropriate for a goalie to cross

18:15 Speaker 1: that red line? I think everyone's favorite example was when

18:20 Speaker 1: the Blues were playing wild and Jordan Binnington was being

18:24 Speaker 1: Jordan Bennington and being a menace and getting involved in

18:28 Speaker 1: the fight and Marc Andre Fleury crossed the line and

18:35 Speaker 1: wanted to fight him, and the refs wouldn't have it

18:40 Speaker 1: totally absolutely one acceptable reason, and you know, like, let's

18:47 Speaker 1: be honest, there are also other scenarios where there's kind

18:52 Speaker 1: of an in between, right, so I can't remember who

18:55 Speaker 1: the opponent was, but I know this season fairly recently,

18:59 Speaker 1: the Ottaway Senators were playing against a team where something

19:02 Speaker 1: was happening down at that end, and Lena's Allmark approached

19:07 Speaker 1: the red line and was kind of like saying words

19:11 Speaker 1: right that is also I think, kind of an in

19:15 Speaker 1: between area where he's just saying, hey, watch yourself. He

19:20 Speaker 1: didn't take his I don't believe he took his uh,

19:22 Speaker 1: his hat, his mask, off, his gloves or anything like that,

19:27 Speaker 1: but you know, like skating out saying words basically making

19:31 Speaker 1: sure like you stay where you are and I will

19:34 Speaker 1: stay where I am, you know.

19:38 Speaker 6: Okay, all right, I will.

19:40 Speaker 1: There are certain scenarios I think where that can be acceptable,

19:42 Speaker 1: but and I think I almost wonder if that's what

19:46 Speaker 1: Kemper was doing was the because he didn't shed any equipment,

19:51 Speaker 1: but Swimen was just like taking it all off right away.

19:54 Speaker 1: It's like, dude, what are you doing?

19:56 Speaker 5: Like?

19:57 Speaker 6: Can you not like this?

19:58 Speaker 1: This an? This game already sucks. You are not making

20:04 Speaker 2: And I don't want to call him a fake because

20:07 Speaker 2: you know, I don't know, but in that circumstance, you

20:12 Speaker 2: just have to look at him and say, what the

20:14 Speaker 2: hell did you think you were doing?

20:16 Speaker 6: What did you think you were going to accomplishly by that?

20:20 Speaker 1: Nobody?

20:21 Speaker 2: And it makes it bothers me now that the spin

20:25 Speaker 2: is being turned around and you know, the door I

20:28 Speaker 2: was saying, that was not what his intention was. He

20:32 Speaker 2: wasn't expecting the question from the person who asked. And

20:36 Speaker 2: you know the tone and the tenor it was right

20:38 Speaker 2: after a bad loss. I'm like, no, that's when you

20:41 Speaker 2: speak your truth. I'm sorry, I agree, that's when you

20:45 Speaker 2: speak your truth. You're pissed off and you've let everybody

20:49 Speaker 2: know that you were pissed off.

20:52 Speaker 1: Well, and I think this entire situation is also just

20:57 Speaker 1: ultimately a symptom of the large your problem right with

21:06 Speaker 1: not excusing Swaman whatsoever, but like, who in that room

21:11 Speaker 1: is gonna teach him? That's not how we do this.

21:14 Speaker 1: That's not your job, right, Who Who's gonna mentor him?

21:18 Speaker 1: And be that veteran to say, get your head out

21:20 Speaker 1: of your ass? What are you doing? Don't you ever

21:22 Speaker 1: do that again? You know who's who else is on

21:26 Speaker 1: the ice to respond in that situation? Why did no

21:33 Speaker 1: one then respond after that happened with who's Nadinov. Why

21:39 Speaker 1: that's that's a bigger problem.

21:40 Speaker 2: Why did no one on the team feel like they've

21:44 Speaker 2: checked out?

21:46 Speaker 5: And that comes down to the problem of the whole

21:48 Speaker 5: season is the lack of leadership and and that's been

21:53 Speaker 5: a problem really from day one one.

21:55 Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree with you again and.

21:58 Speaker 5: Again I think with Marshanghon McAboy out hampus Lynn Home out.

22:06 Speaker 6: Carrying the team on his back. But he can't.

22:10 Speaker 2: And I think I said it from the early stages

22:14 Speaker 2: of the season that I called it a disconnect. There

22:18 Speaker 2: has been a disconnect in that room from day one,

22:23 Speaker 2: and there has been no chemistry that we have seen

22:28 Speaker 2: on the ice. There was a line that had chemistry

22:31 Speaker 2: and that was the fourth line when they were playing

22:33 Speaker 2: over their heads the nowadays you know we had, yeah,

22:40 Speaker 2: and you know revisionist history. And but this speaks to management.

22:44 Speaker 6: Now you you.

22:48 Speaker 2: Shipped out Bruce Cassidy, believe the stories or not, because

22:53 Speaker 2: the players were complaining about his coaching style. Then you

22:58 Speaker 2: bring in a player's coach in Jim Montgomery and give

23:03 Speaker 2: him support the three of us. But given the team

23:07 Speaker 2: and given how they played and given their roster, the

23:09 Speaker 2: three of us could have coached that team and had success. Okay,

23:15 Speaker 2: all right, but be that as it may. He's a

23:17 Speaker 2: player's coach. You bring in the players coach, you fire

23:20 Speaker 2: the players coach. And what has he turned around to do?

23:24 Speaker 4: Now?

23:25 Speaker 2: He has the Saint Louis Blues in a playoff spot.

39:36 Speaker 1: please enlighten us. When did the draft lottery get going?

39:40 Speaker 1: How does it work? Because it's it's it's if you're

39:44 Speaker 1: from New York state, this this is gonna you're gonna

39:47 Speaker 1: laugh at this joke. If you're not, then I'm sorry.

39:49 Speaker 1: But it feels a little bit like the eleven o'clock

39:52 Speaker 1: lotto call with Yolanda Vega with the little balls and

39:57 Speaker 1: they pick out who goes first, and I that's the

40:04 Speaker 2: So and I asked in question, did the NHL adopt

40:08 Speaker 2: a bit of the NBA's policy with their lottery balls?

40:12 Speaker 6: You know, it's almost like a bingo wheel.

40:15 Speaker 5: Well, we actually we have a literal lottery machine with

40:18 Speaker 5: ping pong balls. That's actually our thing. So the NHL

40:23 Speaker 5: started the draft lottery in nineteen ninety five, whateen, But

40:29 Speaker 5: they've changed the rules here and there like every few

40:32 Speaker 5: years they've changed it. The current structure has been in

40:35 Speaker 5: place since twenty twenty one, so sometimes they've had bigger

40:40 Speaker 5: like more draft picks, more teams were able to do

40:45 Speaker 5: different things with it, so it's changed. The NHL, the NBA,

40:49 Speaker 5: and Major League Baseball all have a draft lottery. The

40:54 Speaker 5: NFL does not. So I'm going to give you just

40:57 Speaker 5: a little bit just going back to sort of how

40:59 Speaker 5: the draft works for people who don't know how the

41:01 Speaker 5: draft works. Essentially, how in a perfect draft. In a

41:06 Speaker 5: pure draft, every team gets one pick per round and

41:10 Speaker 5: there are seven rounds, so that's without trading around, without

41:15 Speaker 5: moving things around. Players need to be between eighteen and

41:20 Speaker 5: twenty if they're from North America. If they're international players,

41:24 Speaker 5: they can be up to age twenty one if they

41:26 Speaker 5: have not yet played in the NHL, and then basically

41:30 Speaker 5: anybody who goes undrafted, they're eligibly to be drafted till

41:34 Speaker 5: age twenty one or.

41:35 Speaker 1: They become a UFAs.

41:38 Speaker 5: So the draft lottery came about for the non playoff

41:44 Speaker 5: teams to give them the best chance to select players.

41:49 Speaker 5: But it was supposed to avoid tanking, and that's actually

41:55 Speaker 5: why they have the lottery. Because otherwise, let's take the

41:59 Speaker 5: Bruins for instance, We're not going to make the playoffs.

42:02 Speaker 5: I mean, technically, mathematically there's a chance, but we all

42:05 Speaker 5: know we're not going to make it. So now, if

42:08 Speaker 5: there wasn't a draft lottery, theoretically the Bruins, now I

42:13 Speaker 5: feel funny saying this, they would stop playing. Well they are,

42:16 Speaker 5: but it's not you know, Hank on purpose to try

42:22 Speaker 5: and be the worst team in the league, so they

42:25 Speaker 5: would get the top player, right, because it's umast to

42:29 Speaker 5: the bottom of all these teams who weren't going to

42:31 Speaker 5: make the playoffs. So that's actually why the draft lottery exists.

42:36 Speaker 5: The draft lottery decides the first sixteen picks because thirty

42:41 Speaker 5: two teams, there's sixteen, you know, half of them make

42:43 Speaker 5: it into the playoffs, half of them don't. But it

42:47 Speaker 5: is it's literally a lottery machine with ping pong balls. Now,

42:53 Speaker 5: each team that is part of the draft lottery is

42:56 Speaker 5: assigned a random set of four numbers of a combination

43:01 Speaker 5: of four numbers. If you've got a worst record, you

43:05 Speaker 5: have more combinations. So essentially, right now San Jose is

43:10 Speaker 5: the worst team in the league. They have an eighteen

43:13 Speaker 5: point five percent there's eighteen point five percent odds, an

43:18 Speaker 5: eighteen point five percent chance that they're going to get

43:21 Speaker 5: the number one draft pick, so they get one hundred

43:24 Speaker 5: and eighty five combinations. Is essentially how it works. Now,

43:32 Speaker 5: within these these sixteen teams, only number one and number

43:38 Speaker 5: two are determined by the lottery. The rest are in

43:42 Speaker 5: order of the regular season standings. So this season ended

43:47 Speaker 5: right now, the San Jose Sharks are number one in

43:51 Speaker 5: the worst at number eight right now, so it's all

43:56 Speaker 5: going to you know, we still have a number of

43:57 Speaker 5: games left, you know, ten, eleven, twelve, depending on your season,

44:02 Speaker 5: so this could change a little bit, but basically it

44:05 Speaker 5: goes in the order of regular season standings. Now, no

44:11 Speaker 5: team can win the lottery more than twice in five

44:13 Speaker 5: years starting right now, from twenty twenty two, because that's

44:17 Speaker 5: when they change the rules.

44:18 Speaker 1: Right because what happened. Chicago won two years in a row.

44:22 Speaker 5: So ago one, Yeah, Chicago won, and they could win

44:24 Speaker 5: two years in a row, but they cannot win again

44:28 Speaker 5: within the five years, so Chicago, So if we go

44:32 Speaker 5: back a few years, Chicago won one year. San Jose

44:36 Speaker 5: Sharks won last year, so I so if the Sharks

44:40 Speaker 5: won again, this year. Great, they could do that, but

44:43 Speaker 5: then they're out for the next three years as far

44:45 Speaker 5: as far as winning the draft lottery.

44:48 Speaker 2: So if we look at this, just because I just

44:52 Speaker 2: pulled up the standings in the league, right right now,

44:56 Speaker 2: Chicago's thirty one.

44:58 Speaker 6: San Jose is thirty two, two worse teams in the leagues.

45:01 Speaker 2: Yep, So by logic, they would they would have the

45:06 Speaker 2: better odd So if we didn't have a draft lottery,

45:10 Speaker 2: San Jose would pick first, Chicago would pick second, and

45:13 Speaker 2: right now, then it would be Nashville Flyers and on down.

45:18 Speaker 6: Because of the draft lottery, the.

45:20 Speaker 5: Sixteen worst teams right now, the sixteen teams who aren't

45:24 Speaker 5: going to be making the playoffs all have a chance

45:27 Speaker 5: to go in there. Now, there's one caveat, and this

45:31 Speaker 5: was one of the things they change in twenty twenty

45:33 Speaker 5: one is you can only move up ten spaces. So

45:38 Speaker 5: right now Calgary is in the sixteenth space. Yes, they

45:42 Speaker 5: cannot get the number one draft pick. Okay, they can't

45:47 Speaker 5: move up that high, but they can move up, so

45:49 Speaker 5: depending on how high up somebody. Now the Bruins are

45:52 Speaker 5: an eighth. So let's just say we end up winning

45:55 Speaker 5: the draft lottery, we move up to number one. San

45:59 Speaker 5: Jose ups to number two. Now again this is then

46:03 Speaker 5: there's one more pick. Whoever gets number two, let's just

46:06 Speaker 5: say it's Seattle. Well, now San Jose drops to the

46:10 Speaker 5: third pick, so it really determines the first three, even

46:13 Speaker 5: though the first two are part of the lottery.

46:21 Speaker 1: two years ago? They got on TV and they were

53:40 Speaker 5: the playoffs, the full order of the draft.
