Bruins Bamboozle us Again | Snap Shots Episode 46
Liner notes
🎙️ Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice—well, that's Bruins hockey in a nutshell right now. They showed real promise with an impressive win against Carolina, led by Pastrnak’s incredible 5-point performance and a standout effort from Morgan Geekie. But any optimism was quickly crushed the next night in Buffalo, as Boston completely unraveled during yet another painful second period. Jeremy Swayman gave us brief moments of hope, but don’t be fooled—consistency just isn't there. The Bruins head to New Jersey Tuesday night to face a Devils squad looking to lock down their playoff spot. With New Jersey riding a three-game win streak, expect this one to get ugly fast.📲 Follow us on X, Instagram & Blue Sky ➡️ @TapetoTapeMK

Speaker 1: As they say, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The Bruins tease their skills with a surprisingly solid win against the Carolina Hurricanes, but they couldn't keep it up long enough into the second half of a back to back against the Buffalo Sabers. We should have known better than to get excited. This is a Bruins tape to tape snapshot.
Speaker 2: If we're all looking for a reason to continue watching the remainder of the Bruins games this season after they have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, I'm here to tell you that the newly formed line of David Pasternach, Morgan Geeky, and Elias Lindholm is becoming much must watch TV. I'll start with the game against the Carolina Hurricanes, and who saw this coming, Folks, certainly not me. The Bruins beat a very good Carolina Hurricane by a Hurricanes team, excuse me, by a score of five to one, and the stars of the show were David Pasternach, Eliaslundholm, and Morgan Geeky.
Speaker 2: They single handedly dismantled the first line and one of the top defensive pairings in the league single handedly, with David Pasternach netting a natural hat trick, and his name is now being spoken in the same sentences of records with held by Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, which is pretty damn good company in my book. Jeremy Swayman was also extremely solid in this game, and the Bruins played one of the best games that they have played since the trade deadline. And they also finally snapped their losing streak and treated the Boston Garden crowd with the Ted Garden crowd, to a much needed entertaining game.
Speaker 2: Now fast forward to Sunday night against the Buffalo Sabers, where the Bruins lost by a score of six to three, and once again their demise was the second period. It has become befuddling, frustrating, mind boggling as to what happens to the Boston Bruins in the second period of hockey games. They made things for the Sabers so easy, extremely easy, too easy. You had instances of two Bruins players covering the same Sabers player and other players being left alone and unattended. It's unfortunate that they weren't able to build on the good things that they did in the game against Carolina, but the one steadying force was once again the trio of Morgan Geeky, Elias Lindholme and David Pasternach.
Speaker 2: This newly put together line is doing magical things on the ice together, and in my opinion, they are likely going to be one of the few reasons that we will continue tuning in to watch the rest of this very disappointing and frustrating season for the Boston Bruins.
Speaker 1: Maybe all this adversity will help bring the new team leaders together. It's certainly been evident in the play of Pasternach, Geeky and Linholm. The Bees play next on Tuesday night down in New Jersey against the Devils. The last time the Bruins played the Devils, they were spanked five to one. Not surprisingly, in game one of the season, the Bruins started out strong with a goal just shy of six minutes in by Morgan Geeky, assisted by Pasta and Zaka. They then fell apart during this second period, which is clearly the theme and likely the epitaph on the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season Tombstone.
Speaker 1: Jeremy Swayman has shown some improvement over the weekend, but as I said at the top of the snapshot, don't get fooled and assume that there will be any consistency in this department. We've been hoodwinked too many times this year. New Jersey will be looking to punch their ticket to the playoffs as soon as possible. The Devils have eighty nine points and are five four and one in their last ten with a three game win streak. They are breathing a sigh of relief that the two wild card teams are both in the Atlantic Division.
Speaker 1: Ottawa currently has ninety points and Montreal has eighty five. The Ranger are still very much so a threat to the Devils at this time, even though it's not likely that they will catch New Jersey by midnight next week. Regardless, expect a hungry and focused Devil's team to come out and try to take care of business. This one might be rough.
