1:25 Speaker 3: I mean it's twenty three degrees today warm, it is

1:30 Speaker 3: warmed up, although you were in Florida and it's like

1:41 Speaker 2: that between between the weather and the sub subpar production

1:49 Speaker 2: that I feel the NHL put on for this event. No,

1:55 Speaker 2: I'm thinking that that might be my last outdoor game,

1:58 Speaker 2: and I have been to all of them as as

2:03 Speaker 2: the Bruins have participated them in that that was not

2:06 Speaker 2: one of my favorite events. I'll tell you that.

2:12 Speaker 3: remembering of all the outdoor games that Boston has played in, well,

2:18 Speaker 3: I was gonna say they've hosted most of them. I mean,

2:22 Speaker 3: Lake Tahoe was on kind of neutral territory. I don't

2:26 Speaker 3: remember who they played, Philadelphia. That was like a random one, yes,

2:31 Speaker 3: But so.

2:32 Speaker 2: That's one one. Notre Dame was was a home game

2:36 Speaker 2: for the Chicago Blackhawks. Oh, you're right.

2:38 Speaker 3: I always forget about that one because I always think

2:40 Speaker 3: of that. There's two Fenway, there's Gillette.

2:44 Speaker 2: Notre Dame, Tahoe, and they've got their asses kicked in

2:48 Speaker 2: Gillette at Gillette by the Canadians. Brad marshandmanaged to get

2:52 Speaker 2: himself suspended right before that. So that was not a

2:59 Speaker 2: great showing of the Boston Bruins for that. When a

3:06 Speaker 2: to get to this. Maybe there's a difference between the

3:11 Speaker 2: pomp and circumstance for the Winter Classic as opposed to

3:15 Speaker 2: a stadium series. But I found the in game productions

3:22 Speaker 2: and the whole making your way to the venue and

3:26 Speaker 2: the lines and everything to to suckited.

3:30 Speaker 3: To hear about it from, especially from that perspective, because

3:38 Speaker 3: I mean, I think it was a very different experience

3:40 Speaker 3: from from a TV perspective. But then again, all I

3:42 Speaker 3: had to do was make my way to my couch, so.

3:52 Speaker 2: takes on that that that royally pissed me off how

3:55 Speaker 2: that happened. So we're gonna we're gonna get to all

4:22 Speaker 2: Olympics because the Bruins have nine representatives. Crazy, It's crazy, right.

4:34 Speaker 2: Single Canadian, right, but yeah, and Jonis Corporasalo was the

4:39 Speaker 2: latest and most recent addition to that due to an

4:45 Speaker 2: injury U and his ey carefet team. Yes, yes, okay,

4:52 Speaker 2: so we'll have we'll have episodes to touch upon that.

4:55 Speaker 2: We are also going to record a what we we

5:00 Speaker 2: call a special segment of special episode. We typically do

5:05 Speaker 2: our own awards for the Boston Bruins, so each of

5:10 Speaker 2: us will be filling out our own ballots and then

5:14 Speaker 2: making our case for those we have chosen for awards

5:19 Speaker 2: such as MVP, Seventh Player Award, Rookie Lady bang Selke,

5:26 Speaker 2: and so on and so forth. So you know, sometimes

5:29 Speaker 2: we're on the same page with that and sometimes we're not,

5:31 Speaker 2: but it makes for good, good conversation.

5:34 Speaker 3: Yes, I'm looking forward to our third annual mid season

5:38 Speaker 3: awards ceremony.

5:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it'll be a good one this

5:41 Speaker 2: year because I think we're going to have a good

5:45 Speaker 2: variety of candidates to pick specific to just the Boston Bruins, Folks.

5:53 Speaker 2: be specific to our Boston Bruins. YEP. The other thing,

5:58 Speaker 2: in terms of housekeeping is the status of Elias Lindholm

6:03 Speaker 2: and Pavel Zaka, which apparently they have now missed. They missed,

6:11 Speaker 2: they did not travel to the Stadium Series game with

6:14 Speaker 2: the team. They are going to miss the game that

6:18 Speaker 2: the Bruins are playing tonight, which is their last game

6:22 Speaker 2: before the break. And again we're recording on Wednesday, February

6:26 Speaker 2: fourth against the Florida Panthers. And then I just pulled

6:31 Speaker 2: up a brief quick hit on the internet to see

6:35 Speaker 2: that while they're okay, it sounds like they're holding them

6:41 Speaker 2: out so as to not jeopardize their ability to be

6:46 Speaker 2: able to play in the Olympics. And they'll let those

6:51 Speaker 2: specific national team doctors make that decision. Now, again, I'm

6:58 Speaker 2: likely going to go off on a tangent, but if

7:01 Speaker 2: they're okay and they're able to travel to Milan, Courtina

7:08 Speaker 2: to Milan to play in the Olympics, and correct me

7:12 Speaker 2: if I'm wrong, I could be totally off base, but

7:15 Speaker 2: probably could have used their health in the game against

7:18 Speaker 2: the Tampa Bay Lightning. Yep, the Stadium Series game and

7:22 Speaker 2: the game tonight against the Florida Panthers. Like this freaking

7:26 Speaker 2: bothers me. Yeah, it's.

7:31 Speaker 3: We're playing divisional teams. You know, it's one thing if

7:38 Speaker 3: if it was like two home games and two teams

7:42 Speaker 3: from out west, all right, you know, obviously points or points,

7:46 Speaker 3: and on the East. In the East, things are so tight.

7:51 Speaker 3: It's every point matters, and it is a little frustrating

7:58 Speaker 3: because they are very valuable to the construction of this team.

8:05 Speaker 3: We have talked about it the entire season that this

8:09 Speaker 3: team is that Jenga tower, and we have seen how

8:12 Speaker 3: they can struggle when core pieces are missing. Lately they've

8:17 Speaker 3: been able to be a little bit more robust, and

8:23 Speaker 3: with one or two of these guys out, they've been

8:26 Speaker 3: able to still play well. But again, in a division

8:33 Speaker 3: where we are seeing this team fight tooth and nail

8:37 Speaker 3: for a spot, a single day can either have them

8:42 Speaker 3: be bumped into an actual divisional playoff position, and the

8:48 Speaker 3: very next day, without even playing a game, they're not

8:51 Speaker 3: even in the wild card. I don't love the decision making.

8:57 Speaker 2: I understand. I stn't think it's a good luck, this

9:00 Speaker 2: and and this. Right now, I'm gonna read you exactly

9:03 Speaker 2: what Marko stem said about twenty hours ago after they

9:07 Speaker 2: practiced in South Florida. He was asked the question by

9:16 Speaker 2: Lindholm and Pavel Zaka will be okay for the Olympics,

9:20 Speaker 2: but that it's probably more of a decision for the

9:23 Speaker 2: national team doctors than the Bruins doctors at this point.

9:28 Speaker 2: So who's calling the shots here at this point? Is

9:32 Speaker 2: it our doctors? Is it the Olympic doctors? Who's whose

9:35 Speaker 2: payroll are these two guys on right now? Yeah? Like

9:40 Speaker 2: it pisses me off. This is an important another important

9:43 Speaker 2: two points. The game Sunday was another important two points.

9:49 Speaker 2: They got to lose a point out of it, but

9:51 Speaker 2: we'll get to how they got that loser point. But again,

9:56 Speaker 2: this is and I don't This is what has troubled

9:59 Speaker 2: me about some of this Olympic stuff that has been

10:09 Speaker 2: fanfare and the privilege and the honor to be selected

10:15 Speaker 2: to play for your country, but I'm sorry, your priority

10:23 Speaker 3: Yea well, And it's gonna really suck if Boston finds

10:29 Speaker 3: themselves on the outside of the playoff structure by one

10:35 Speaker 3: or two points, because it could you you might be

10:40 Speaker 3: able to point to one of these games from this

10:45 Speaker 3: past week. I mean, who knows, right, we don't know

10:49 Speaker 3: what's going to happen. Maybe it won't have mattered, but

10:52 Speaker 3: everything is so up in the air. I mean, I

10:57 Speaker 3: find your point valid. I'm a little surprised, and not

12:35 Speaker 2: it comes to him, I've questioned, I've questioned. I think

12:40 Speaker 2: he's a little soft when it comes to injuries.

12:44 Speaker 2: It's just my opinion, my opinion, Okay, although.

12:50 Speaker 3: He's had some pretty horrible luck in the past year,

12:52 Speaker 3: I feel like, hey, you're right, and this again this

12:55 Speaker 3: year is the exception shot, you know, the shot to

12:58 Speaker 3: the face of Grant.

13:15 Speaker 3: You know. Yeah, he only uses a door off when

13:22 Speaker 3: it comes to that. No, no, but it'll be interesting

13:27 Speaker 3: to see in the next twenty four hours. At the

13:31 Speaker 3: time of our recording, it's about to be one thirty

13:34 Speaker 3: in the afternoon. Uh, you know, not to jump too

13:38 Speaker 3: far ahead into around the ring stuff, but to talk

13:41 Speaker 3: a little bit about the Olympics. The break trade freeze

13:47 Speaker 3: starts today at three pm and it goes until February

13:51 Speaker 3: twenty second. Simultaneously, the athletes who are done playing Wednesday

14:01 Speaker 3: or flying out on Thursday, their charter flight from New

14:05 Speaker 3: Jersey heads out, and then the rest of them fly

14:10 Speaker 3: out the next day. I mean they all likely want

14:13 Speaker 3: to get there for the opening ceremonies on Friday.

14:15 Speaker 2: Yeah.

14:16 Speaker 3: Yeah, So I'm curious to see if there will be

14:19 Speaker 3: any other kind of very final dropouts, because we've started

14:25 Speaker 3: to see a few more all of a sudden appear.

14:28 Speaker 3: You know, there's been a handful of guys across the league,

14:31 Speaker 3: not just those two that you mentioned, but Brad Marshan

14:35 Speaker 3: has been out with an injury. Upel of course, Lukapekaalucnin

14:42 Speaker 3: he had to drop out of the Olympics literally, I

14:46 Speaker 3: mean three days before leaving, which is crushing, but then

14:51 Speaker 3: great for corpus Allo. You know, how many more are

14:53 Speaker 3: we going to see? Sorelli also just got yanked from

14:57 Speaker 3: the Olympics because of that, Sam Bennett's taking his place, right. Yeah,

15:01 Speaker 3: so that hit by CASTLEK apparently did a number. Who

15:05 Speaker 3: knows exactly what happened there. We're really not going to

15:08 Speaker 3: know if there are any others until Friday, and even

15:11 Speaker 3: then the teams bring extra guys. Right, It's not like

15:15 Speaker 3: the movie Miracle where they back then all they could

15:19 Speaker 3: take were the twenty guys. Now they are allowed to take.

15:23 Speaker 2: A couple more.

15:24 Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if possibly we see some guys

15:29 Speaker 3: who go out there and they, let's say, for example,

15:33 Speaker 3: Brad marshand. The games are starting pretty quickly once they

15:38 Speaker 3: get there, maybe he sits out part of the preliminary round,

15:42 Speaker 3: right because it's in Canada, they're obviously expected to do

15:44 Speaker 3: really well, and then maybe he steps in. So there

15:47 Speaker 3: still might be guys who are going there actually injured,

15:51 Speaker 3: but close enough that the doctors would say, we're willing

15:56 Speaker 3: to take the risk to bring you to sit for

16:01 Speaker 3: a game or two. We're going to find We're going

16:03 Speaker 3: to see what happens there.

16:04 Speaker 2: We'll find that out sooner a round than later. But that,

16:24 Speaker 2: hockey schedule. The women. The women actually start on Thriday.

16:29 Speaker 2: I believe this is Thursday. Thursday. Oh yeah, that's right, yes, Thursday,

16:34 Speaker 2: that's yeah tomorrow.

16:35 Speaker 4: Yeah.

16:35 Speaker 3: The funny thing about the Olympics, right, it's there's the

16:39 Speaker 3: opening ceremony, but things are already happening. There are already

16:43 Speaker 3: preliminary rounds and things like that. So they've got their

16:47 Speaker 3: preliminaries start. You've got games in Group B and in

16:52 Speaker 3: Group A. So Team USA for the women play on

16:55 Speaker 3: Thursday at ten forty in the morning against chech Ya.

16:59 Speaker 3: Where's Canada. I believe Canada plays for the first time.

17:02 Speaker 3: Maybe on Saturday, no Il. Sorry, they play Thursday as

17:06 Speaker 3: well against Finland. So they start pretty quick and they

17:10 Speaker 3: get moving, and then the men play. They've got a

17:14 Speaker 3: little bit later start they uh, February eleventh, so they

17:18 Speaker 3: need to actually spend some time you know, I don't know, practicing,

17:22 Speaker 3: getting to know one other. Y, Yeah, learn what they're

17:26 Speaker 3: supposed to be doing so, they don't actually start their

17:30 Speaker 3: group preliminary rounds until till next Wednesday. And we've got

17:36 Speaker 3: and that's really only Slovakia and Finland and Sweden and Italy.

17:40 Speaker 3: We don't see Canada get going until next Thursday, and

17:45 Speaker 3: the United States as well next Thursday. So there's a

17:48 Speaker 3: little bit of time there. But they're still going to

17:50 Speaker 3: be hockey because we should all definitely check out the

17:53 Speaker 3: women's Oh yeah, for sure, those games they're going to

17:55 Speaker 3: be They're going to be really intense. And this is

17:57 Speaker 3: the first year that the Olympics have p WHL players,

18:02 Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it. I just not only selfishly

18:06 Speaker 2: for our the nine members of the Bruins organization that

18:10 Speaker 2: are going. I really don't want to see any of

18:11 Speaker 2: these guys come back injured. I really really don't. I'm

18:17 Speaker 2: still I'm still a little annoyed and pissed off the

18:20 Speaker 2: team USA named Austin Matthews as a captain and not

18:24 Speaker 2: one of the Chip boys. I'm sorry. That's just total

18:27 Speaker 2: bs as far as I'm concerned.

18:29 Speaker 3: But yeah, I knew it was nothing was going to change.

18:33 Speaker 3: In fact, I had a conversation with somebody when they

18:35 Speaker 3: when they had posted, oh, I wonder who the captain

18:38 Speaker 3: is going to be? And I thought, wait, I thought

18:40 Speaker 3: they had already made that decision. But maybe I was

18:44 Speaker 3: just confusing it with the four Nations. But then why

18:47 Speaker 3: would they change the team leadership if the core of

18:52 Speaker 3: Team USA? And same thing with Canada, Like, why would

18:54 Speaker 3: they change any of them if it's almost the same roster,

18:58 Speaker 3: right like.

18:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, not surprised, but no, but disappointed Nonetheless, I don't know.

19:06 Speaker 2: Maybe it's just the biased with where it comes to

19:09 Speaker 2: I know, Toronto maple leafs, you know, I mean, I

19:12 Speaker 2: can't even believe that. I'm like making a case for

19:15 Speaker 2: the cutcher boy at this junk but I know, no good.

19:21 Speaker 3: And then the last piece of news around the rink

19:23 Speaker 3: that also I think came out somewhat quietly, very trying.

19:28 Speaker 3: He took over a couple of years ago, maybe three

19:31 Speaker 3: years ago, three years ago, yep, as GM for the

19:36 Speaker 3: Nashville Predators. He's literally only the second GM in Predator's history,

19:42 Speaker 3: because I forget the guy's name, but he the other

19:44 Speaker 3: one was there for like twenty years or whatever. And

19:47 Speaker 3: he's quote unquote retiring, which I think is kind of

19:53 Speaker 3: a funny way of saying he's not done well in

19:59 Speaker 3: that position, and so he's maybe saving face.

20:05 Speaker 2: I mean I thought the same thing. I read something

20:07 Speaker 2: online before we started the podcast that says that's not

20:10 Speaker 2: necessarily the case. That's sixty three years old. He's an

20:16 Speaker 2: actis a really long time, a really long I remember

20:19 Speaker 2: him as the coach when I lived in Portland, Maine,

20:25 Speaker 2: and he had the Portland Pirates. He came in in

20:29 Speaker 2: his first year and coached that team to the championship.

20:34 Speaker 2: And not only that, he and those players were so

20:40 Speaker 2: good to the local hockey organizations, like you couldn't have

20:44 Speaker 2: asked for a better scenario. And the support that the

20:49 Speaker 2: community gave to the Portland Pirates as a result of

20:53 Speaker 2: these players, you know, putting themselves out in the community

20:57 Speaker 2: and making, you know, making us feel welcome into them

21:03 Speaker 2: was awesome. And he's been he's been to me a

21:07 Speaker 2: class act from day one, day one. Oh, he's a

21:11 Speaker 2: favorite of mine.

21:12 Speaker 3: In fact, you know, there was some chatter in our

21:14 Speaker 3: discord group that maybe he'll reappear in a year as

21:19 Speaker 3: a coach again, and I don't think that would be

21:21 Speaker 3: a terrible thing.

21:22 Speaker 2: He's one that I've I've always liked and I just

21:26 Speaker 2: I know when when you're when you're when things are

21:28 Speaker 2: going wrong and you're this is right. The National Predators

21:32 Speaker 2: are in I don't want to say they're in the shambles,

21:34 Speaker 2: but they are on the struggle bus. They're on the

21:37 Speaker 2: struggle bus. That contract for Steven Stamposts looks really bad

21:42 Speaker 2: right now, right, And so yeah, all those guys. So

21:46 Speaker 2: Barry Trumps is going to stay in the role while

21:50 Speaker 2: they're searching for a replacement to help with the transition.

21:55 Speaker 2: And then after they do find a replacement, he is

21:58 Speaker 2: going to stay on as a team advised.

22:01 Speaker 3: Hopefully he gets to enjoy retirement well deserved. I highly recommended, Barry.

22:13 Speaker 3: So when last we met, Yes, we have three actual

22:19 Speaker 3: real LEGITI hockey games to talk about.

22:22 Speaker 2: I know. And on January twenty sixth, we had an

22:27 Speaker 2: overtime four to three loss at the New York Rangers.

22:31 Speaker 2: Then the Bruins came home and faced the Nashville Predators

22:36 Speaker 2: and luckily won that game three to two. Now correct

22:39 Speaker 2: me if I'm wrong, is was that the game that

22:42 Speaker 2: the Bruins had challenges getting home, yes, because of weather,

22:47 Speaker 2: and they actually had to come home and bust bus, yes,

22:52 Speaker 2: on buses, right, So yeah, but it's three over times

22:56 Speaker 2: in a row. It's a lot of extra time. Yeah,

22:58 Speaker 2: a lot of extra times. But that game, if they

23:00 Speaker 2: had lost that game, that might have been the excuse,

23:03 Speaker 2: but built an excuse. But yeah, they eked it out.

23:07 Speaker 2: And then we have the Stadium series game, which was

23:11 Speaker 2: a real game, a real game, despite all the corny

23:14 Speaker 2: pirates and the fireworks and all of a sudden bullshit.

23:18 Speaker 3: I loved the Pirates. It looked so much better on TV, Marie.

23:21 Speaker 2: I don't know, just like it was.

23:25 Speaker 3: You know what, though I wish it was very family

23:27 Speaker 3: It was very family friendly. However, then have this game

23:32 Speaker 3: on when my family can watch the whole thing, right,

23:36 Speaker 3: Why have it as a seven o'clock game then?

23:39 Speaker 2: And did the puck even might drop right at seven?

23:41 Speaker 2: Because I'm not sure that it did. I don't know.

23:43 Speaker 3: They advertised it at six thirty, and I was like,

23:46 Speaker 3: I feel like that's suspicious.

23:49 Speaker 2: But everything said six thirty I was. I was not

23:53 Speaker 2: a fan of the state. First of all, there's nothing

23:57 Speaker 2: in our in and around this football stadium. So there

24:00 Speaker 2: wasn't even like a bar that you could go to

24:24 Speaker 2: it that you could have pregained at. Then once you

24:27 Speaker 2: get inside, the merchandise tent was a total unmitigated ship

24:34 Speaker 2: show debacle. First of all, they had only one merchandise

24:37 Speaker 2: tent for sixty seven thousand people at the FanFest. I

24:41 Speaker 2: don't know how many they had inside the building. We

24:44 Speaker 2: found one inside the building where we stood in line

24:49 Speaker 2: for over an hour to buy get some merch. Now

24:54 Speaker 2: again you could say, well you should have bought your

24:56 Speaker 2: merch ahead of time. No, but you like to go.

24:59 Speaker 3: It's like I would go to the pro shop when

25:00 Speaker 3: I go to a Bruins game.

25:02 Speaker 2: Who does it like to go and look? And just

25:05 Speaker 2: like the feeding of the crowd to get into the

25:08 Speaker 2: FanFest or into the building, I thought it was his

25:12 Speaker 2: poor Of all the outdoor games that I have been

25:16 Speaker 2: to and I have been to all of them that

25:18 Speaker 2: have involved the Bruins, right, and Notre Dame was a blast.

25:25 Speaker 2: Just the pomp and circumstance and the venue that we

25:29 Speaker 2: were in. Just do want to give a shit about

25:31 Speaker 2: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers building, Right, and then the and

25:36 Speaker 2: I understand, I understand that it was a home game

25:41 Speaker 2: for the Tampa Bay Lightning, so that you know, the

25:46 Speaker 2: production and the crowd surfing and all that stuff was

25:51 Speaker 2: swaying towards the Tampa Bay Lightning. But you couldn't show

25:55 Speaker 2: me replace of all the plays. There were no minimal

26:01 Speaker 2: replace on any goals that the Bruins scored. And then

26:06 Speaker 2: the key, the key play that happened in was it

26:10 Speaker 2: the overtime when Pastor thought, Okay, we're sitting there waiting, waiting,

26:16 Speaker 2: like I want to see what happened. Never once was

26:18 Speaker 2: shown on the jumboat front. Never once. Instead, I see,

26:23 Speaker 2: you know, all the people in the pirate stuff and

26:27 Speaker 2: the pirate ships, and I just found it to be

26:30 Speaker 2: a frustrating experience. Yeah, a frustrating experience.

26:38 Speaker 3: And it sounds like it was definitely one of those

26:41 Speaker 3: productions that was really more so for TV than the

26:48 Speaker 3: people who were there.

26:48 Speaker 2: I think you're I think you're right, you know, and

26:51 Speaker 2: I mean the fan fest was fine. There were like

26:54 Speaker 2: the highlight was being able to have your picture taken

26:57 Speaker 2: with the Stanley Cup. Thank god, you've got in there

27:01 Speaker 2: very very early and with the help with a friend

27:04 Speaker 2: of the pod mb skis Marybeth, who was able to

27:08 Speaker 2: get us in. But later on, like within an hour

27:12 Speaker 2: or so after that, it was a two hour wait

27:14 Speaker 2: in line to have your picture it again with the

27:17 Speaker 2: Stanley Cup. Now again there's only one Stanley Cup, so

27:20 Speaker 2: there's nothing you can do about that, but the merchandise.

27:24 Speaker 3: Spending two hours in line, geez, I mean, this.

27:26 Speaker 2: Is what, like is mind boggling to me. You know

27:29 Speaker 2: that you could potentially have over sixty thousand people flooding

27:33 Speaker 2: into this event. They ran out of a particular Seltzer

27:39 Speaker 2: drink that the crowd was drinking well.

27:42 Speaker 3: And I saw the prices, My god, eighteen dollars for

27:46 Speaker 3: chicken tenders.

27:47 Speaker 2: Nineteen no, no, no, nineteen nineteen dollars. A spike hot

27:52 Speaker 2: chocolate inside the stadium was twenty six dollars. Twenty six dollars.

27:58 Speaker 2: We didn't buy it, but that's what the price.

28:01 Speaker 3: Was So what you're telling me is the entire thing

28:04 Speaker 3: goes in the penalty box for me. Yes, that's just

28:08 Speaker 3: my personal opinion. The game itself goes in the penalty

28:12 Speaker 3: box too, because the fact that you blew a five

28:17 Speaker 3: to one league.

28:18 Speaker 2: In that game pissed me off to no end. As

28:22 Speaker 2: I'm sitting there shivering. Now. The weather conditions didn't help.

28:27 Speaker 2: It was cold, right, it was cold. Mean, can't control

28:31 Speaker 2: the weather. You know, we thought we were going, you know,

28:34 Speaker 2: to Tampa, Florida to watch a game outside where you know,

28:37 Speaker 2: the temperatures might drop to fifty at night, not thirds. Yeah, exactly.

28:44 Speaker 2: The way that they blew that game really pissed me off,

28:49 Speaker 2: really pissed me off. And I said to myself at

28:51 Speaker 2: one point when it was five to one, I wonder

28:56 Speaker 2: how long it's going to take the officials to start

28:59 Speaker 2: feeling bad. This game is looking to be a runaway,

29:03 Speaker 2: because I'm not sure if fans would have stayed in

29:09 Speaker 2: their seats, given how cold it was in there to

29:14 Speaker 2: watch their team get the leap kicked out of them.

29:19 Speaker 2: And I blame one person, m I blame one person

29:26 Speaker 2: for that momentum swing and changing it in the wrong direction,

29:33 Speaker 2: and that is Jeremy Swayman. I was I'm I'm so

29:39 Speaker 2: pissed off. I was so pissed off at this kid

29:43 Speaker 2: for being selfish and self centered at that moment in time,

29:48 Speaker 2: because up until that point, Tampa looked lifeless unlessen were bad.

29:56 Speaker 2: They get off to a hot start, right, and the

29:59 Speaker 2: building flodes because there's a goal within like we're just

30:04 Speaker 2: you know, wrapping our blankets around ourselves and it's one

30:07 Speaker 2: to nothing. And this is where I give this Bruin's

30:11 Speaker 2: team a ton of credit. They don't really quit and

30:15 Speaker 2: they don't give up. And so they came back and

30:19 Speaker 2: Tampa looked like, what the hell is happening here? The

30:23 Speaker 2: Bruins scored five on the answered goals. That should put

30:27 Speaker 2: things to bed. You have things in hand. You know

30:32 Speaker 2: what happens The Bruins get emotional, they let their emotions

30:37 Speaker 2: get ahead of them. Then this this our goalie who

30:42 Speaker 2: has been wanting a goalie fight for how long, decides oh,

30:46 Speaker 2: this is a good time. This is a good time.

30:49 Speaker 2: That energized Basileski, woke him up. Yes, what you did,

30:55 Speaker 2: Jeremy Swayman, is what we tell other teams not to do.

30:59 Speaker 2: To us. Don't poke the fucking bear, and that's what

31:03 Speaker 2: you diant, that's what you did. The officials were garbage,

31:09 Speaker 2: absolute garbage.

31:11 Speaker 3: My biggest complaint ultimately, like the most generalized complaint, aside

31:17 Speaker 3: from the fact that there were certainly missed blatant calls

31:22 Speaker 3: and that happens, I get it, But this game was

31:25 Speaker 3: one of those situations where the referees did not manage

31:32 Speaker 3: the game appropriately or correctly. And what I mean by

31:37 Speaker 3: that is the on ice officials their job isn't just

31:43 Speaker 3: to call oh trip penalty whatever, blah blah blah. They

31:47 Speaker 3: have to understand the dynamics of what's happening on the ice,

31:52 Speaker 3: and historically with hockey teams where there is high energy

31:58 Speaker 3: and high emotion and maybe a rivalry, it's a big game.

32:02 Speaker 2: Whatever it is.

32:05 Speaker 3: They're gonna chirp more, they're gonna push and shove a

32:09 Speaker 3: little bit more, they're gonna poke and needle at each

32:12 Speaker 3: other a little bit more, and it is the on

32:16 Speaker 3: ice officials responsibility to correctly manage that. And you could

32:23 Speaker 3: tell first half of the game there was a lot

32:28 Speaker 3: of what we like to call the extracurriculars happening, but

32:33 Speaker 3: nothing really seemed to be addressed.

32:38 Speaker 2: And so when you all of a.

32:40 Speaker 3: Sudden started to see the kind of idiotic multiple penalties

32:46 Speaker 3: being called against the Bruins, regardless if they were accurate

32:51 Speaker 3: or not. Maybe they were sure, they probably were. There

32:54 Speaker 3: were some that certainly were. Some of them were bad luck.

32:57 Speaker 3: But what you end up have happening is you've got

33:01 Speaker 3: these two teams. They're kind of doing a little mild

33:04 Speaker 3: put shoving and pushing, and then all of a sudden,

33:07 Speaker 3: you're only giving one side penalties. The other side is

33:13 Speaker 3: gonna get mad and they're gonna and they're gonna take

33:15 Speaker 3: matters into their own hands because the referees refused to

33:19 Speaker 3: manage the game correctly. And that's when things can go sideways.

33:23 Speaker 3: Either one team that feels aggrieved and frustrated loses their

33:29 Speaker 3: cool and you start to then see penalty after penalty,

33:35 Speaker 3: or you just end up with a situation where you've

33:38 Speaker 3: got both teams just, you know, in some kind of

33:41 Speaker 3: massive fight, and you've got ten guys from each team

33:45 Speaker 3: in the box. And unfortunately for the Boston Bruins, it

33:48 Speaker 3: was one sided response on their part. And you know,

33:53 Speaker 3: I'm not saying that their response was appropriate, that they

34:00 Speaker 3: should have done it. And again some of them were

34:02 Speaker 3: very stupid mistakes. But like I'm not surprised, Like this

34:10 Speaker 3: is what happens when you don't manage a game.

34:13 Speaker 2: And they were undisciplined, right, they were, They did become undisciplined,

34:19 Speaker 2: but they weren't.

34:22 Speaker 3: There was and I'm sorry if you were blowing your whistle.

34:25 Speaker 3: If you were blowing your whistle, it wasn't even Why

34:30 Speaker 3: was it not heard by the people who need to

34:32 Speaker 3: hear it?

34:32 Speaker 2: I don't know. I do not understand that. I do

34:35 Speaker 2: not understand that, right, I don't know. I don't understand.

34:39 Speaker 2: And and they're they're they're claiming that the crowd was

34:43 Speaker 2: so loud that I don't hear the whistle. I don't know.

34:48 Speaker 2: But any stick taps, Yes, I'm giving stick taps to

34:57 Speaker 2: all of our Olympians. Yeah, from the Boston Bruins, right,

35:02 Speaker 2: And I also want to give a stip tack to

35:05 Speaker 2: the Toronto Mad Beliefs management.

35:08 Speaker 4: The management, yes for giving up on Fraser missus. Thank

35:12 Speaker 4: God for that Holy Caw Rookie of the month, right,

35:16 Speaker 4: I mean, Don Swayney looks like he fleeced. It's pretty unbelievable.

35:21 Speaker 4: It's pretty unbelievable that that happened. And in the penalty box,

35:24 Speaker 4: I am putting. I put Jeremy Swayman squarely in there,

35:29 Speaker 4: just and I explained more than once. I explained it

35:32 Speaker 4: in the snapshot, and I explained it more thoroughly here.

35:36 Speaker 4: And also, you know, the NHL Stadium Series team, just

35:41 Speaker 4: I thought the production was not up to standards.

35:46 Speaker 2: And I really do think that the NHL needs to

35:48 Speaker 2: start like relooking and rethinking these games and how they're,

35:53 Speaker 2: where they do them, how they do them, and the

35:56 Speaker 2: timing of them. Because the other disaster that place in

36:00 Speaker 2: Tampa was it was the weekend of something called Gasparrella,

36:04 Speaker 2: where's this huge pirate parade and it's just an influx

36:09 Speaker 2: of you know, a lot of people, which makes it

36:12 Speaker 2: even more challenging to try and get car rides to

36:17 Speaker 2: and from places and getting into restaurants. So just not

36:21 Speaker 2: not there's not my ideal outdoor game. But sounds like

36:26 Speaker 2: I'm whining, and maybe I am. And I don't care

36:29 Speaker 2: who thinks I'm whining because it's my body and I'll

36:32 Speaker 2: cry if I can want. Well that's true.

36:35 Speaker 3: Yeah, So well here we are. We're at the end

36:39 Speaker 3: of the pod. We're at the end before the break.
