Speaker 1: Can you start a podcast with me?
Speaker 2: Please? I need something to do.
Speaker 3: Plastrac send it out.
Speaker 4: A press about to.
Speaker 5: Say hello, what's today?
Speaker 6: Here's a chance?
Speaker 4: Pops right on the goalie scar Oh my one a
Speaker 4: move by the rookie.
Speaker 7: Two on one plaster not marshak of toucht.
Speaker 6: On the zone, oil dances in backcast, Wait right way
Speaker 6: corners past?
Speaker 2: Not get there?
Speaker 8: What's that for?
Speaker 9: My Welcome in everyone to our first ever United experience
Speaker 9: of the NHL Draft Lottery. I don't know if that's
Speaker 9: a good or bad thing, but I'm your host this evening,
Speaker 9: Caroline and I am joined by a plethora of special
Speaker 9: guests tonight to talk about.
Speaker 3: The draft lottery.
Speaker 9: Of course, first and foremost, my fabulous co host, Hello, Maria,
Speaker 9: how are you today?
Speaker 2: Hello?
Speaker 10: Hello, I'm a little I'm a little ill at ease
Speaker 10: here today where we're walking into some uncharted waters. As
Speaker 10: as a bruinsed fan, it's been a very very long
Speaker 10: time since we have been in this position.
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it is, it is.
Speaker 9: And of course, our next special guest, she's been on
Speaker 9: the pod, but it's been a minute. Anna from well
Speaker 9: what we're from a multitude now of platforms as well,
Speaker 9: you have also been growing with Prism, Hockey and a
Speaker 9: whole host of other fantastic spot not Spotify, Substack.
Speaker 3: Publications, and even some others.
Speaker 9: But we want to welcome you in because I guess
Speaker 9: I don't This is not meant to sound mean whatsoever,
Speaker 9: but you're a little bit more experienced in this realm,
Speaker 9: So we wanted to welcome you in as a Columbus
Speaker 9: Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings fan, two teams that
Speaker 9: the Bruins were really going neck and neck with, So
Speaker 9: welcome in.
Speaker 3: How are things?
Speaker 4: You know, the world is as it is and hockey
Speaker 4: is as miserable as usual, So yeah, well you.
Speaker 3: Know you're waiting for the lottery.
Speaker 4: It's all normal for me, of course.
Speaker 9: And then, of course our two other favorite regulars we've
Speaker 9: got Momo and Adrian has come up from the depths
Speaker 9: of his trade deadline depression to make an appearance and
Speaker 9: see what's going to happen.
Speaker 11: So I, guys, I might go back in Bellow Groundhog's Day,
Speaker 11: Like if I might just go turn right around and
Speaker 11: go back in.
Speaker 2: Can we Yeah?
Speaker 10: Can we can we crawl back into the whole? If
Speaker 10: we don't, we don't like the number we don't like
Speaker 10: the number.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, well it better be worth it because at
Speaker 9: eight o'clock.
Speaker 3: Tonight, I am going to be cheering for the Panthers.
Speaker 10: So I knew you'd come around to my line of
Speaker 10: thinking at a girl at just this round, though, Maria,
Speaker 10: just this round.
Speaker 9: Because also I have to share, because I promised I
Speaker 9: would do I would bring this up.
Speaker 3: Uh, and then and then we want to we'll talk.
Speaker 9: But I wanted to do a special shout out because
Speaker 9: there's a creator out there who creates some pretty fantastic
Speaker 9: and hilarious hockey related merch for all teams double hockey sticks.
Speaker 12: So I had to get this. Everyone is welcome here
Speaker 12: except oh my god, I had to get that. They
Speaker 12: had to get that, you know, so everyone should check
Speaker 12: out their uh their march.
Speaker 13: It's pretty hilarious regardless if it makes it feel better.
Speaker 10: I heard the Spit and Chicklets podcast today and the
Speaker 10: only one.
Speaker 3: Who believes that the Leafs have a chance is Leaf himself.
Speaker 11: Was it was Bill Arnette, the guest on that.
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a big leaf fan.
Speaker 11: He's a huge Leafs fan, and I appreciate the fact
Speaker 11: that he's like he doesn't have faith in it. Because
Speaker 11: that's the only true true state of a Leaf fan,
Speaker 11: is that you don't actually believe you're gonna win.
Speaker 3: Everyone else as well. Brad Marshan owns that franchise.
Speaker 9: But anyways, so let's catch up a little bit with
Speaker 9: uh divisional rivals, the Detroit Red Wings and then also
Speaker 9: you know, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and how did you
Speaker 9: feel about the.
Speaker 3: End of your season? Uh, for either of them?
Speaker 9: Because I think red Wings seemed like they were a
Speaker 9: little bit close and then kind of fell by the wayside,
Speaker 9: and then Columbus, I think it came down to literally
Speaker 9: what the last game, last two games?
Speaker 3: How are you feeling as it.
Speaker 4: Came it came down to the second to last today
Speaker 4: for the Blue Jacket my answer is simple, for it
Speaker 4: is the same for both. Why does it like my
Speaker 4: teams loved tortured me? But I mean I actually torture
Speaker 4: myself by having chosen the Bluejackets. Reddings I was born into,
Speaker 4: but Blue Jackets I chose for because I hate myself apparently.
Speaker 8: But.
Speaker 4: But no, I mean I experienced this last year where
Speaker 4: the Red Wings were literally the last day and like
Speaker 4: if you remember last season, the Blue they literally got
Speaker 4: eliminated because the Capital scored an empty net goal on
Speaker 4: the Flyers while they were playing while the Red Wings
Speaker 4: were playing in completely unrelated games. And then it can
Speaker 4: even worse. When the Flyers were still leading the Lucas Raymonds,
Speaker 4: it was David Prawn scored with three seconds left in
Speaker 4: regulation to tide a game and give the Red Ruings home.
Speaker 4: It's like, I've serisay native of the Blue Jackets. You
Speaker 4: know it's wrong, but Reddings I had already signed off
Speaker 4: a long time ago. I stopped believing in the Red
Speaker 4: Wings back in like I don't know that late February,
Speaker 4: the funeral had already gone I did. That's the second
Speaker 4: funeral of the season. The first funeral was in December.
Speaker 4: Because they looked like James Hagen. At this time, we
Speaker 4: thought it was James Saintanks would probably universal role. But
Speaker 4: you know no, we were like like in December, running
Speaker 4: stands were all already making up for for mock at
Speaker 4: jerseys for all the top five pick and debating over
Speaker 4: who we wanted the draft at first or second overall,
Speaker 4: Like people forget we are literally into bottom four in December,
Speaker 4: Like we were literally one of the worst teams.
Speaker 3: I thought that they were doing better. Maybe No, I
Speaker 3: don't know.
Speaker 2: It wasn't.
Speaker 4: It wasn't until it wasn't until we finally fire Lane,
Speaker 4: who I wanted to be fired well over a month ago.
Speaker 4: They actually started playing und Yeah, and then we got
Speaker 4: some hope and then they collapsed again. It looked like
Speaker 4: they did under the line again.
Speaker 3: Do you think that they took a step backwards this season?
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this was this was like this was a
Speaker 4: just this wasn't just a step back. This was several
Speaker 4: steps back. They were worse in literally every single way.
Speaker 4: I mean, there is not a single thing that they're
Speaker 4: even close to touching from last year. The defense was
Speaker 4: somehow okay, it's not for the defense. I will say
Speaker 4: the defense was a bit better, and that's only because
Speaker 4: the defense could not be worse than last year when
Speaker 4: but it was still a marine cider and and maybe
Speaker 4: half a defenseman like Resider was the only consistently good
Speaker 4: one shot is good if he's on the bottom two pairings,
Speaker 4: but if he's on the top pairing, it's a disaster.
Speaker 4: And they kept putting him up up on the top
Speaker 4: pairing because he's the only defenseman with a pulse who
Speaker 4: was consistently, at least with a pulse that's familiar.
Speaker 3: Spoiler for next week's.
Speaker 9: Podcast episode where we talk about defensive pairings and inappropriately.
Speaker 3: Staff position.
Speaker 2: Like a forward playing defense.
Speaker 3: You have to have to set him up.
Speaker 9: You have.
Speaker 3: If you would spend an hour talking about that, Are
Speaker 3: you kidding me?
Speaker 2: Frederick?
Speaker 10: There's a method too, is madness, and I'm not going
Speaker 10: to disagree.
Speaker 3: No, I don't disagree.
Speaker 10: That's going to be our next uh, our next episode.
Speaker 10: So I'm here for it. I'm here for the rationale.
Speaker 3: So does anybody?
Speaker 14: Uh?
Speaker 9: Has anybody heard any names popping up for this particular
Speaker 9: draft class, because you know, the last couple of seasons,
Speaker 9: by this point we already had, you know, a name
Speaker 9: for the draft lottery, right like it was the Badard
Speaker 9: lottery two years ago.
Speaker 3: Uh, and the Celebrini lottery last season. So has anyone
Speaker 3: heard anything of anyone? Yeah?
Speaker 10: Today NHL dot com has a couple of you got
Speaker 10: a cobjected to go number one, and then I know
Speaker 10: we've mentioned the kid's name, Mesa. It was also projected
Speaker 10: to go on the higher on the higher side.
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's looking at tanking.
Speaker 8: They've they've kind of tiered everybody out, So they got
Speaker 8: two tier one prospects in Matthew Schaeffer, who's the left defenseman,
Speaker 8: and then Misa, who's either a center or a left wing.
Speaker 8: And I don't know what you guys think, but hopefully
Speaker 8: you know, if the Bruins get a high pick, they
Speaker 8: don't go defense. So maybe they get the top pick
Speaker 8: and they trade it. Who knows, I don't know.
Speaker 4: Shafing is the best player in the draft pretty easily,
Speaker 4: but Misa potentially could go number one solely because he's
Speaker 4: a forward and a potential center. Oh. I think people
Speaker 4: are starting to come around to him being a winger
Speaker 4: in the NHL, but still forwards usually get taken higher
Speaker 4: than defenseman at the top of the draft. But Schaefer
Speaker 4: is the best player in the draft, Like, that's not
Speaker 4: really disputable.
Speaker 2: At this point.
Speaker 3: Where is he coming out of college?
Speaker 2: Job?
Speaker 4: Uh jor junior?
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's what I would say.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, Well, I don't know who any of these
Speaker 9: folks are, so I will be paying attention and learning
Speaker 9: and this summer we'll get to know more of them
Speaker 9: when they show up in the development camps. But go ahead, Adrian, Yeah,
Speaker 9: I mean I'm looking at it. It seems like outside
Speaker 9: of Schaefer, nearly everybody in like the top seven or
Speaker 9: eight are forwards. So it bodes well for us.
Speaker 11: Yeah, it does where we need to be forward heavy
Speaker 11: draft behooves us.
Speaker 9: Really, is there anybody who seems like they could start
Speaker 9: in the NHL? Or is that not going to be
Speaker 9: the case this this draft years?
Speaker 3: Bananas face, I'm thinking no way.
Speaker 4: I mean maybe if Safer goes to the Sharks, yes,
Speaker 4: maybe the preditive we're desperate enough, depending what they do
Speaker 4: this off season. Outside of that, I mean, maybe there's
Speaker 4: a small chance of Mesa if he gets drafted by
Speaker 4: the by the Blackhawks. But other than that, like that's
Speaker 4: really it. There's yeah, I mean, yeah, it's not too
Speaker 4: likely for not any help.
Speaker 3: There there from.
Speaker 10: And again I haven't been paying as much attention as
Speaker 10: all the rest of you have, but from what I've
Speaker 10: seen and read and heard, there doesn't seem to be
Speaker 10: a generational talent coming out of this draft. And I
Speaker 10: guess when we use that phrase, you know, we're looking
Speaker 10: at you know, you know, players like you know, Sydney Crosby, Connibradards,
Speaker 10: you know, I don't even know, to be honest with
Speaker 10: you that I would call Jack Hu and Connor Badadde
Speaker 10: generational talents, you know, not Connor Bdard.
Speaker 3: I mean, I don't watch the Blackhawks.
Speaker 2: And no one does.
Speaker 4: Territory.
Speaker 13: But yeah, yeah, I mean I understand, I mean I
Speaker 13: hear in terms of like, you know, you look at
Speaker 13: you look at a guy like McDavid, Right, That's there's no.
Speaker 10: Disputing that that is a franchise altering player that changes,
Speaker 10: you know, the trajectory of your franchise. Have you seen
Speaker 10: that happen in these other instances yet?
Speaker 11: No, I don't think. I don't think Chicago is the
Speaker 11: depth to put around Bedard at all. So I think
Speaker 11: is as good as he is developmentally, he's been hindered
Speaker 11: a bit by the complete lack of of the support
Speaker 11: system that around him. And then whether when out I
Speaker 11: don't remember how Ichael or or David Fairred in their
Speaker 11: first or second seasons. I mean, I know what they
Speaker 11: are now, I know, I go floundered a little bit obviously.
Speaker 2: Now look where he was.
Speaker 11: I do wonder whether or not there is a correlation
Speaker 11: to be drawn between someone like Badard and Ikel based
Speaker 11: on the team they landed with.
Speaker 9: Right, So you know, yeah, that could be a fair
Speaker 9: a fair thing that ends up happening. But we've talked
Speaker 9: about it even just as outsiders. I can't wait for
Speaker 9: Don to go off the board and draft a projected
Speaker 9: third rounder in the top two probably probably well.
Speaker 10: And there's the other other, you know, sort of damnicles
Speaker 10: that's hanging over our head. Do we trust this management group?
Speaker 4: No?
Speaker 11: I mean no, I actually I actually have been thinking
Speaker 11: about that, and I kind of I kind of do.
Speaker 11: I mean, I think like it's because I think if
Speaker 11: you're drafting in the first round, you're it's it's easier,
Speaker 11: you know, so loose. There's like there's a lot more
Speaker 11: like like here's the list of the scouting reports that
Speaker 11: are the best people. You're picking among them, right, It's
Speaker 11: not like you're you're starting in the second or third
Speaker 11: round and being like, I don't know, what do you
Speaker 11: think this guy? So now, I I kind of am
Speaker 11: like if if you tack what the twenty fifteen draft
Speaker 11: or the one that everyone no one seems to want
Speaker 11: to like go of off the table, like I don't know,
Speaker 11: I'm not I'm not really I'm not really beating up
Speaker 11: about it. You know, we haven't drafted well over the
Speaker 11: last years because we haven't had the picks. We've been
Speaker 11: too good to get good picks, and we've traded those
Speaker 11: picks to stay competitive. So you can't stay competitive by
Speaker 11: trading picks and then turn around and be like, well
Speaker 11: we've got no one in the pool. Like that wasn't
Speaker 11: the plan. So, you know, now it's kind of a reset.
Speaker 11: We'll see how it goes. But I kind of I'm
Speaker 11: not you know, this management team for weird decisions they make.
Speaker 11: They're not necessarily in neckt at their jobs. They're actually
Speaker 11: pretty shrewd. We just have a tendency to get pissed.
Speaker 4: True.
Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't trust them, you know, And I mean
Speaker 10: I respect and understand what you're saying. I just have
Speaker 10: seen too long and too big of a sample size
Speaker 10: at this juncture.
Speaker 1: You know.
Speaker 10: I think they are good at certain things. Don Sweeney
Speaker 10: is good at making hockey trades. I will grant him
Speaker 10: that he's good at making hockey trades. They are cutthroats
Speaker 10: and ruthless when it comes to negotiating contracts with their players,
Speaker 10: and I don't believe that they are above board and
Speaker 10: honest during the course of those negotiations. And I don't
Speaker 10: think that they have of the expertise that they need
Speaker 10: to identify what players they want, what players will fit,
Speaker 10: and what players they are actually going to spend time
Speaker 10: to develop. We've seen this countless times now, but you
Speaker 10: know there's always there's always next year, as the saying goes, right.
Speaker 9: Look, so I was gonna share my screen, but because
Speaker 9: it kept crashing, we're gonna try something.
Speaker 3: I will let you guys all know you can't see
Speaker 3: you very well. I'm there, you go, there it is.
Speaker 3: We've got it.
Speaker 11: But nothing happening right now.
Speaker 9: Volume up, all right, Bruins fans, If you're thinking about
Speaker 9: picking up some new gear, now's the time. I'm already
Speaker 9: planning to grab a fresh poster neck jersey this fall.
Speaker 9: Who knows, maybe he's rocking a new letter on the front.

Speaker 9: It is nothing happen in right now. All the gms
Speaker 9: are sitting in their little boxes.
Speaker 10: And I think Johnny Boy is at Warrior Ice Arena
Speaker 10: and TD Garden because the Celtics are getting ready to
Speaker 10: tip off Game one of the.
Speaker 3: Second round of the NBA Finals.
Speaker 9: Ye well there, their offices are in Warrior anyways. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 9: so that would make sense. But nothing's happening yet. They're
Speaker 9: just explaining how it'll work with If you haven't listened
Speaker 9: to Front of the Pod Maribeth's explainer, I definitely recommend
Speaker 9: even if you're not a Ruins fan, go back and
Speaker 9: listen to it because it can help really clarify and
Speaker 9: make it all make sense, because again this is new
Speaker 9: to all of us. But basically they're gonna just like
Speaker 9: the old lotto ball out of the machine.
Speaker 10: So don there's the illustrious commissioner.
Speaker 8: Yeah, Caroline, there was what like a lookup table of
Speaker 8: like a thousand numbers and there's like four rand numbers
Speaker 8: and each team is assigned ex percentage.
Speaker 3: Right, yeah, it is kind of cool, right yep, so
Speaker 3: at least know what's.
Speaker 2: Going to complain that you know a team was rigged.
Speaker 9: I mean I like that they're doing it this live
Speaker 9: for real because I never then understood prior to this,
Speaker 9: why would somebody watch this?
Speaker 3: Like this makes sense? This is more fun. I mean, I,
Speaker 3: like I said in that episode with Mary Beth, like
Speaker 3: I grew up in New York State.
Speaker 9: At eleven o'clock every night, Lande Vega comes on the
Speaker 9: TV and she pulls the five balls for the New
Speaker 9: York State Lottery.
Speaker 3: So like, this is what it makes me think of,
Speaker 3: and I think it's hilarious. Come on, guys, let's get
Speaker 3: started here.
Speaker 2: No, they gotta build it up, build it up.
Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing, Like how long does this actually take?
Speaker 2: I don't know, half an hour.
Speaker 9: I'm thinking, don't let it be an hour, because otherwise
Speaker 9: that would be painful to draw.
Speaker 10: I'm gonna grab my guide and see because i mean
Speaker 10: the game thirty minutes.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're.
Speaker 10: Going toourny minutes, So have some pre game because ESPN
Speaker 10: has being one of the Leafs Panthers.
Speaker 11: Yes, that's a series. Hagen's is a BC guy, so
Speaker 11: you know that that's probably sparking interest.
Speaker 3: Don loves his. He likes more than we are. There
Speaker 3: any BU guys in there.
Speaker 11: Adrian, I'm checking them scrolling through. I'm not seeing any
Speaker 11: right off the off the top off the ones featured, But.
Speaker 8: Wasn't Hagan's like touted pretty highly early in the year
Speaker 8: as like the next kind.
Speaker 2: Of number one Yeah mm hmm, which the Bruins can
Speaker 2: get him left wing play on the up line.
Speaker 9: I mean anything with I know the famous iSER plan
Speaker 9: and that he is famously tight lipped, Like did he
Speaker 9: mention at all anything that's on their shopping list either
Speaker 9: in the draft or and free agency this year?
Speaker 3: Or is it still him saying I'm not going to
Speaker 3: tell you anything, just come to the games.
Speaker 4: The only thing we got was that Patrick Kane wants
Speaker 4: to come back, and they want Patrick Kane back, So
Speaker 4: it looks like we're getting number ear of Kine. That's
Speaker 4: really the only scene. How we know, so.
Speaker 2: Kind of old.
Speaker 4: He's like thirty seven or something, but he's really good still.
Speaker 4: But he's performed well.
Speaker 2: No, no, he performed well.
Speaker 10: And you know, we talked about having you know, the
Speaker 10: need to have like kind of that you know, veteran
Speaker 10: leadership presence. And you know, he's won how many times
Speaker 10: is two three Cups he's won with the black Hawks,
Speaker 10: So you know there's something to be said for that
Speaker 10: when you're trying to build a team with you know,
Speaker 10: younger players to understand, you know.
Speaker 4: So yeah, for me though, if I mean, I obviously
Speaker 4: I'm not Iserman. Over Wise, this team would be built
Speaker 4: a whole lot differently than it is. Believe me on
Speaker 4: that there would not be just in Tol on this team.
Speaker 4: But I think, honestly, like the thing is, I don't
Speaker 4: think unless a defenseman who is just that highly tounded
Speaker 4: is available where the Red Wings are like, yeah, I
Speaker 4: don't think there really is any like I don't see
Speaker 4: as distracting the defenseman. I honestly think even Bove saving
Speaker 4: the best player available at all times. You're so loaded
Speaker 4: on defense defensive prospects at this point. That's like unless
Speaker 4: they are convinced one of them is a future star,
Speaker 4: like legit star, you know, household name. I think we're
Speaker 4: going forward, no matter was it's just you know, are
Speaker 4: you going winger or center? I want them to go center,
Speaker 4: but I think they're just going to take best forward available,
Speaker 4: no matter the position. But I just don't see them
Speaker 4: going defense this year. I think that I think those
Speaker 4: things are over at least it's a top tick.
Speaker 3: Yeah, interesting do you find in Detroit?
Speaker 9: Well, first of all, I guess, uh, how do people
Speaker 9: fans feel about Iserbin? And then secondly, is he has
Speaker 9: he what's the word I'm trying to think of, wedged
Speaker 9: himself in there so that way no one can ever.
Speaker 4: Get rid of him. It's basically the kind of the
Speaker 4: ledged himself anything. The thing is, we have a we
Speaker 4: have a negligent owner. Chris Ilitch does not care at all.
Speaker 4: He's basically like he's basically star struck. My man, you're
Speaker 4: not gonna touch.
Speaker 3: Hold that they're putting something in there.
Speaker 2: They were going in.
Speaker 3: They were in a briefcase. Was it Price Waterhouse Cooper?
Speaker 2: I don't know if it was.
Speaker 4: All right, quickly, who do you all think is gonna
Speaker 4: get first? Overall? Oh?
Speaker 3: I am the worst person to ask.
Speaker 11: Nobody's super guy.
Speaker 2: I don't know.
Speaker 4: About ten shows? Are the lowest? King Crab.
Speaker 3: And you think you think, yeah, thinks it's Boston.
Speaker 2: We're gonna get last? Who do we not want to
Speaker 2: get the top pick? Buffalo?
Speaker 4: I don't like the Rangers? Notes to the Rangers or Blackhaw?
Speaker 10: I was gonna say the black I think I'm off
Speaker 10: set league. The league has done enough to help the
Speaker 10: Chicago Blackhawks.
Speaker 2: Yep.
Speaker 9: No, we're going to get in last. Whatever the lowest
Speaker 9: we could possibly get is what we will because it's
Speaker 9: just our.
Speaker 3: Luck this year.
Speaker 11: We can only go seventh. That's as we can.
Speaker 3: That's the lowest. All right, I guess.
Speaker 4: You will draft seventh and you will like it?
Speaker 6: Yeah?
Speaker 2: Right?
Speaker 4: In Redding Sands and dropping to six is so iconic
Speaker 4: that there's literally a Red Wings fan blow called drafting sixth.
Speaker 9: Oh my god, I can't I remember the last time
Speaker 9: the Bruins drafted in the first round.
Speaker 2: Yeah, well their last first overall pick was Thornton.
Speaker 11: I was going to say, I think it was Thornton, right, yep,
Speaker 11: because that was right.
Speaker 10: There was the year, the Taylor Hall Tyler Sagan year.
Speaker 10: But you could have called them a one A and
Speaker 10: A one B.
Speaker 3: But all right, who's got the spreadsheet? Who's that number?
Speaker 2: Boston dropped a couple percentage points?
Speaker 9: Oh, just yeah, because of the way that the numbers started.
Speaker 9: They don't own a number with that or a series
Speaker 9: of numbers.
Speaker 2: That's start with seven, or they do, and it's just less.
Speaker 3: It's very exciting.
Speaker 11: The one thing I'm not clear on is like who
Speaker 11: these numbers actually correlate to.
Speaker 2: Right, I know that seems yeah, each team has their
Speaker 2: own most.
Speaker 9: Been assigned a percentage of all the possible number combinations
Speaker 9: you can get.
Speaker 4: Apparently the Flames got eliminated, not to Bluejackets. Put us
Speaker 4: to Blue Jacket's number. I'm confused.
Speaker 3: Well, it's just the first number of the of the
Speaker 3: sea of like the row of numbers.
Speaker 11: This really is like mega millions, it really and.
Speaker 3: Powerball? Why can they Oh, because they don't have any
Speaker 3: of those numbers.
Speaker 8: They got eliminated, right, that's how that so okay, mmm,
Speaker 8: holy how another thirty seconds?
Speaker 3: Jesus is that really necessary?
Speaker 2: Yes?
Speaker 3: All right, you got to make sure they're mixed real well,
Speaker 3: all twenty of them.
Speaker 11: Sweeney looks like he's having a stroke.
Speaker 3: You might as well have those glasses with the eyeball
Speaker 3: printed on them, Like yeah, just.
Speaker 10: I'm seeing like social media and everyone's like, what the
Speaker 10: theft does any of this mean?
Speaker 3: Right?
Speaker 2: This is awesome.
Speaker 11: I love this.
Speaker 3: He's got the matching Powerball numbers. It's exactly what it is.
Speaker 2: Eleven. Well, Chicago is still in this.
Speaker 3: Oh we're done. We're not getting the is this is
Speaker 3: just for first for first overall?
Speaker 8: Pick right, yeah, and Buffalo to Pittsburgh Islanders.
Speaker 11: Chicago is eighteen point at this point.
Speaker 3: Jesus, No, Noburg does not need.
Speaker 11: A number one of all these. I would go Seattle
Speaker 11: would be interesting to see.
Speaker 4: I would.
Speaker 3: I wouldn't be mad.
Speaker 10: They are my West Coast teams for Seattle. I'm betting
Speaker 10: putting my money on Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2: Yeah, what the hell are you going to go over everybody?
Speaker 3: They're taking a break. They're taking a break, aren't they
Speaker 3: You're taking a break.
Speaker 11: Unbelievable.
Speaker 3: Yeah, so so does everybody then understand how this is working?
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we didn't win. We got chobbed. Yeah.
Speaker 3: Basically, do you expect anything less?
Speaker 2: Smw mo, No, it never goes our way.
Speaker 9: So Adrian, does it say on your little print out?
Speaker 9: I guess the percentages there. It's not just the odds
Speaker 9: of them getting the first one. It's actually they own
Speaker 9: what eight percent of all of the possible number.
Speaker 11: Of comminations, right, yeah, I mean it doesn't I think
Speaker 11: it's just going to land in each position. And so
Speaker 11: we are we are like eight and a half pretty
Speaker 11: much for the first and second we had eight point
Speaker 11: five percent. For number the number three pick we had
Speaker 11: point two percent. So you know, it's it's we're not
Speaker 11: the odds are highly stocked against us moving up into
Speaker 11: one or two. But you know, somebody's got to win.
Speaker 11: But you know, my whole thing is is like, it
Speaker 11: would be great if we just didn't fall too far.
Speaker 4: Yeight wow.
Speaker 3: So and it has to be uh, it has to
Speaker 3: be in that order, right or does it? Is it
Speaker 3: actually like the lottery?
Speaker 11: That's a that's a very fair question.
Speaker 2: I know it has to be in order, it has
Speaker 2: to be in the order.
Speaker 3: It has to because I'm like, that doesn't make sense.
Speaker 4: It has to be that order.
Speaker 11: The percentage changed based on what happened in the first round.
Speaker 11: None of these percentages would.
Speaker 15: Matter, would matter, right, It would be almost like receding everything,
Speaker 15: you know exactly, So our it seems as though our
Speaker 15: odds are pretty identical for first and second is percent
Speaker 15: so you know, it's not great, but it's also not awful.
Speaker 11: Yeah, so you know, we'll see how it goes, but.
Speaker 2: Go ahead.
Speaker 11: But uh yeah, I mean it's like we've got a
Speaker 11: we've got a thirty four point six percent chance of
Speaker 11: getting the number fIF five spot, and forty four point
Speaker 11: seven getting number six and thirteen point five getting number seven.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Right, because once whoever gets picked first gets their number,
Speaker 9: they're out of it, and so all of their numbers.
Speaker 3: Well that's an interesting thing, right, what happens to all
Speaker 3: of their unused numbers?
Speaker 11: I mean basically what I mean, I don't know. But
Speaker 11: what's interesting is that, based on what Mary Beth said
Speaker 11: that I think that if somebody jumps and everyone else
Speaker 11: just gets pushed down, right, so like say the Blackhawks
Speaker 11: or the or the Sharks get the first pick, like
Speaker 11: we don't move right, because they were already any of us.
Speaker 11: But if someone jumps all five of us, then we
Speaker 11: slide down to six.
Speaker 4: Right.
Speaker 2: Yeah, So I don't know.
Speaker 4: We'll see how it goes.
Speaker 3: We're gonna find out, because no one's ever seen this
Speaker 3: done before. They usually just walk out and hold up
Speaker 3: a card and say this is who won. Yeah, and
Speaker 3: they had on TV. They had the commercial and the
Speaker 3: the lotto balls. Still going to prove.
Speaker 11: That is all about where are the balls now, Caroline.
Speaker 11: All I'm seeing is.
Speaker 3: I know, I don't see it. All I see are feeling.
Speaker 11: Off the balls and then bringing in new balls that
Speaker 11: just give it to Chicago.
Speaker 2: We don't know.
Speaker 8: Yeah, First, it looks like basically the first top two
Speaker 8: picks are done by the lottery, which is the four
Speaker 8: digit the four number combination of the four numbers, and
Speaker 8: then whoever, and then the last teams. Basically their draft
Speaker 8: order is inversed based on their regular season point standing.
Speaker 3: So this only matters for first and second.
Speaker 8: Yeah, so everything else, And that's why it depends who
Speaker 8: gets I think second.
Speaker 3: Yes, nine seconds, everybody here you go.
Speaker 2: Oh jeez, almost fell got it? Thirteen thirteen, Okay, So
Speaker 2: it's not who wins.
Speaker 3: It's who is it?
Speaker 11: It's not Buffalo. I don't think it's Chicago either, because
Speaker 11: it was two or three.
Speaker 3: I think actually, like manually the Island, we had all
Speaker 3: these a second ago. Who is it?
Speaker 4: Okay, so I know who? Ellen Freeman just said, who
Speaker 4: want a lottery?
Speaker 11: Oh?
Speaker 3: Did he really?
Speaker 1: Yeah?
Speaker 4: It's all Twinter right now. Friedman just said.
Speaker 11: Really, yeah, my god, this dude's in his living room.
Speaker 2: I love this. Oh my god, that's fun.
Speaker 4: And he just to New York boy, when is it
Speaker 4: not a New York or New Jersey?
Speaker 3: So that wasn't that they.
Speaker 4: No, yeah, they fired Lou.
Speaker 3: They fired Lou. Yeah yeah, oh that was still only
Speaker 3: for the first Yeah.
Speaker 2: Now they do the whole thing all over again. I
Speaker 2: love it.
Speaker 4: I love it, manures come on, oh if.
Speaker 2: We went second, that would be amazing.
Speaker 14: You know.
Speaker 9: I feel like I'm supposed to be more mad that
Speaker 9: the Islanders got it, but I'm just glad it wasn't
Speaker 9: Chicago or San Jose.
Speaker 4: Absolutely Islanders is a nothing team pretty much like yeah, yeah,
Speaker 4: I'm heardly in New York and I can't see in
Speaker 4: New York teams, but it's like it does like two
Speaker 4: years here, good.
Speaker 11: I'd rather be the Islanders two years ago?
Speaker 3: Who would you rather be?
Speaker 11: Islanders and Rangers? Mm hmm, this is going to go
Speaker 11: to a New York team, not the Ringers.
Speaker 3: Come on, booh Kenmorrow. Oh he's not even he's just
Speaker 3: the director of pro scouting. That's not the GM.
Speaker 10: They don't have one right now, I don't I'm.
Speaker 9: Sorry, not GM president. I was thinking president. Why wouldn't
Speaker 9: I don't know, all right, they didn't have an assistant GM.
Speaker 9: I guess not every place has one, and I'm.
Speaker 4: Looking up Island our staff right now.
Speaker 9: Yeah, like I would have then expected the president or
Speaker 9: an assistant GM. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean it makes sense.
Speaker 9: Director of schedule.
Speaker 4: Fired for let me see if he fired for assistant GM.
Speaker 4: If it's is he is he king Lamorello orbed the
Speaker 4: assistant GM.
Speaker 3: Build a new ring.
Speaker 4: M Lambrella with her president and GM?
Speaker 3: He that makes sense. Then I didn't know he was both.
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's just become quick coming now these days.
Speaker 2: So is that what is man?
Speaker 4: And then don Waddle in the blue jacket? O?
Speaker 3: God, can you imagine if Cam decided he was going
Speaker 3: to be both?
Speaker 9: Oh my god, No, he would never do that because
Speaker 9: then he can't blame someone else for when yes, wait
Speaker 9: comes the first first number.
Speaker 2: They just did it. Oh they've done three numbers.
Speaker 10: They are.
Speaker 11: Seriously just flowing through.
Speaker 10: We had someone in the in our chat just say,
Speaker 10: Hooper drives the boat. I know, billed build a new rink,
Speaker 10: you win draft.
Speaker 11: To ask boilers clever, clever, not wrong?
Speaker 3: Well look at the didn't the devils have a top pick?
Speaker 3: Not too long ago?
Speaker 1: And look at that we got We got a chance
Speaker 1: to get to whoa? Oh oh all right, we're still
Speaker 1: in it. Oh this, yeah, we are pretty good.
Speaker 2: All right, Calgary, Holy crap in Utah. We need a
Speaker 2: seven or fourteen. That's just out right, write that down.
Speaker 7: We need a seven or fourteen, a seven or fourteen,
Speaker 7: come on seven, let's go lucky seven, Come on, balls
Speaker 7: seven or fourteen. Brant, you're talking about future legend, Bruins legend.
Speaker 2: She first fit for thirty seconds. Jesus Christ, what come on?
Speaker 11: They went through three numbers and then just yeah, yeah,
Speaker 11: all right, said we want a seven or fourteen, but
Speaker 11: we don't want a ten.
Speaker 8: Because that's why who's ten? Chicago is ten, seven, fourteen, seven, fourteen.
Speaker 11: Seven or fourteen? It is wait a minute, Wait.
Speaker 2: A minute, I think it's a three. Ah, it's a three.
Speaker 3: Damn it's a three. Who gets that?
Speaker 11: Someone? Clearly someone's none of us screamed about the list.
Speaker 4: I mean, nobody's posted it yet. When I follow, I
Speaker 4: keep refreshing, literally like every other second. Wait, okay, wait,
Speaker 4: what why is that anything?
Speaker 14: Call twenty five draft lottery and now the fourth overall
Speaker 14: selection in the twenty twenty five NHL.
Speaker 2: You tay, you know what.
Speaker 3: I don't hate that, all right? Okay?
Speaker 2: Oh wait, San Jose got the second Ah?
Speaker 3: Wait, how did that happen?
Speaker 2: Wait? Sef, I know, I don't you know.
Speaker 11: We take time to try to learn these things and
Speaker 11: then stuff like this happens.
Speaker 2: Okay, I don't understand you.
Speaker 3: I got it.
Speaker 4: I got it. Okay, I remember how to roos now
Speaker 4: for something, now that this happened, I remember how to
Speaker 4: rule work. You can only move up ten so you
Speaker 4: can still win the lottery. So like if you were
Speaker 4: if you draft fifte teams and you win the lottery,
Speaker 4: you draft fifth.
Speaker 3: Oh but we had would How did the Sharks get it?
Speaker 9: Then? Oh?
Speaker 4: Because the Fox because he moved up. Because continue we're
Speaker 4: the next team in line.
Speaker 3: I think because now they finished, Oh you should have dropped.
Speaker 11: That's what it is, right, So what happened to us?
Speaker 9: We?
Speaker 4: Where are we? Now? That's my question.
Speaker 2: We we'll find out in the next I think we dropped.
Speaker 2: Would we dropped?
Speaker 3: We dropped two spaces? I think so to our worst?
Speaker 3: What did I say to the worst?
Speaker 2: We could possibly finish seventh?
Speaker 11: Yeah, well, two people jumped this, that's what happens. So
Speaker 11: if anybody ended up getting it that wasn't in the
Speaker 11: top four, then we would adopt two spaces.
Speaker 2: Yeah you know, yeah?
Speaker 3: Who oh, well, we knew that was I knew that
Speaker 3: was going to happen. So when then, where does that put?
Speaker 3: Do they have them? The final list? Let's do a
Speaker 3: real quick rundown of uh where everyone finished?
Speaker 11: Islanders? Hold on, it's gonna go Islanders, Sharks, Blackhawks, Utah, Predators, Flyers,
Speaker 11: Ruins seventh. So we wound up, we wound up going
Speaker 11: to seven, seven, then cracking Wall.
Speaker 3: Yeah, then cracking Sabers and then wait, so where does
Speaker 3: Detroit end up?
Speaker 1: Uh?
Speaker 11: Fourteenth?
Speaker 4: I I called it to some friends. I called it
Speaker 4: earlier to some friends. I'm not just they always moved
Speaker 4: down to like they always moved out every damn your half, how.
Speaker 3: Even worse to maybe get a chance.
Speaker 4: We literally had one of the worst seasons at NHL history,
Speaker 4: and they ended up picking fourth.
Speaker 11: But yeah, well, I mean this is why I finished
Speaker 11: as in the regular season standings.
Speaker 4: No back back in twenty nineteen. In twenty nineteen, they
Speaker 4: had literally one of the worst seasons ever and drafted fourth. Never,
Speaker 4: no matter how bad we are, we will always in
Speaker 4: the draft.
Speaker 9: This.
Speaker 10: This is why when I hear talk about the you know,
Speaker 10: teams should tank, teams should tank?
Speaker 3: No, I mean, what's the point, right you can guarantee
Speaker 3: that you'll get anything? Is no guarantee, right right?
Speaker 4: And then outgation. We weren't even find so we were
Speaker 4: just out that. Holland.
Speaker 3: No, I didn't. I didn't think the Boones were either.
Speaker 2: The season.
Speaker 3: It just kind of manifested itself that way.
Speaker 4: Look, you have you have your own can Holland.
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, dear, well this was a lot of fun.
Speaker 8: We've all want to hear some fun news. Yes, news,
Speaker 8: So the Bruins have the sixty ninth pick of the draft.
Speaker 4: Now, Jesus.
Speaker 2: Nice, I'm done, all right.
Speaker 3: All right, Well, this was very exciting. Uh, to never
Speaker 3: do this again with you people. Sorry, thank you.
Speaker 4: Shot the blue jacket.
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, well.
Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what this means that Dawn and Cam have
Speaker 10: to sign some big name free agents, right veteran.
Speaker 3: Yeah, we need to need some veteran leaders because they
Speaker 3: gave all of ours away.
Speaker 9: But uh, anyways, so I want to thank everybody for
Speaker 9: hopping on. You know, it's Monday night, it's rainy here
Speaker 9: in the Northeast, so it's kind of gloomy and chili yep,
